Go See Do with Guest Designer Tegan Skwiat

Today we welcome Tegan Skwiat back to the blog to share another beautiful layout. Tegan loves using digital cut files to create her layouts, and she paired them perfectly with the Live Laugh Love Collection to create a magical page! Let’s see what she created.

Hi everyone! I am so happy to be back today sharing another layout with you using the gorgeous Live Laugh Love Collection! I am in love with this new line and I just can’t put it down!

Supplies | Live Laugh Love 12″x12″ Paper Collection, Live Laugh Love Word Labels, Live Laugh Love Bits & Pieces, Live Laugh Love Puffy Stickers, Live Laugh Love Wood Veneers, Live Laugh Love Enamel Dots, Bike Ride Stamp, April 2017 Digital Cut File, May 2017 Digital Cut File

I love that Elle’s Studio also offers digital cut files that I can use on my layouts each month! First, I used the April 2017 Digital Cut File to cut out a few circular designs from my white background paper. I backed these cut outs with the white grid paper from the Live Laugh Love Collection. I like that this paper adds a little interest to the background, but isn’t overwhelming.

I then used the May 2017 Digital Cut File to cut out the “Go,” “See,” and “Do” arrows from three different colors of my favorite patterned papers, and of course I had to choose my photos to coordinate with each word! The coordinating Live Laugh Love Puffy Stickers make perfect little accents for my title arrows too, don’t they?

I have to admit that I am not much of a stamper. I was afraid to stamp “Notes From Our” and “Adventure” from the Bike Ride Stamp on the background of my almost finished layout. But I quickly learned that Elle’s Studio stamps are so easy to use! This beginner was able to get perfectly stamped images on the very first try. I can’t wait to use more Elle’s Studio stamps on my layouts!

The green “Priorities” Word Label was a perfect little accent to my photo here. Riding the bumper cars at California Adventure was definitely my niece’s top priority that day. I then embellished my layout with the fun Live Laugh Love Wood Veneers and Enamel Dots. I added a small black enamel dot after each word on my title arrows to emphasize the title.

Thanks for joining me today everyone! I hope I have inspired you to document your latest family trip or mini adventure using the fun new Live Laugh Love Collection!

Hi crafty friends! My name is Tegan and I live in northwest Indiana with my husband and my fur kid, Pixie. I’ve loved stickers for as long as I can remember. I had a sticker album that I collected tons of stickers in when I was just a little girl. About 15 years ago my sister suggested we try this thing called “scrapbooking” that her friends’ mom did. I have been hooked on scrapbooking ever since!

When I am not papercrafting, I love to walk the dog and watch movies or football with my husband.

Wow, Tegan really rocked those cut files! If you want to see more of Tegan’s work, please visit her at her blog and her Instagram profile, and stay tuned for Tegan’s final project coming to the blog next week.

A Die Cut Heavy Layout and Process Video with Jen Schow

Each of our monthly kits include two 4″ x 6″ sheets of pre-punched die cuts, perfect for using as embellishment on your projects. Today Jen Schow is with us to illustrate how she made those die cuts front and center on her layout, and we couldn’t love the finished product more! Let’s take a look.

Hey there! It’s Jen here to share a new layout and process video with you using the May 2017 Kit. More specifically I wanted to make a dent in the die cuts that are included this month, and I did!

Supplies | May 2017 Kit, Puffy Heart Stickers, Black Puffy Alphabet Stickers, Arrow Stickers, Adventure Sticker Labels, Sights and Sounds Stamp, Today Stamp, Live Laugh Love 12″ x 12″ Paper Collection

Using the die cuts from the May 2017 Kit, I created a line of embellishment along the bottom of a strip of patterned paper from the Live Laugh Love 12″ x 12″ Paper Collection. I love the impact the die cuts give the layout by clustering them. I added a title using a cut up journaling tag and the Black Puffy Alphabet Stickers— I love them!

I finished it off with some journaling (using the line stamp in the new Today Stamp) and some Puffy Heart Stickers!

If you want to see how the whole thing came together, you can watch the process video.

I hope you’re inspired to use up some of the die cuts in your stash!

An Everyday Motherhood Traveler’s Notebook with Tessa Buys

We are so excited about how popular our Everyday Adventures Mini Album Class has been with you all, and our design team has been inspired to put the class ideas and supplies to good use on their own projects. Today, Tessa Buys is with us to share a beautiful traveler’s notebook celebrating motherhood, documenting everyday “selfie” photos with her kids. Let’s see what she created.

When I think of my everyday adventures, they almost always have something to do with my role as mother. When I decided on what photos and stories to document inspired by the Everyday Adventures Mini Album Class, I decided on “mom selfies”. Every year on Mother’s Day I wrangle my kids together for mother-son and mother-daughter selfies. This year’s photos are the focus of my traveler’s notebook pages and the inspiration for everyday stories about our crazy life.

I set aside a few pages for each of my four kids and started with the one who made me Mom first. While every page is different, they all consist of some patterned paper (either 3.75 inch wide pieces, or pennants cut from the leftover scraps). On this particular page, I used my typewriter to add a quote and then embellished the pennant with a wood veneer heart. The other side is a mix of washi tape stickers, cut outs from the class printable, and die-cuts.

For boy number two I filled one side with patterned paper and the other with white space. The Jonah stamps are my favorite alphabet stamp right now, so I loved stamping out his name. The cluster of die-cuts, wood veneer, printable die cuts, washi tape and enamel dots is simple, but fun.

I loved playing up the pink elements of the Live Laugh Love Collection for my daughter’s pages. I started by cutting out the printable tulip and basing my color choices on that. I copied my patterned paper design from earlier pages. The other side became a stack of washi tape stickers, labels, die-cuts and stamps. I seriously love the Everyday Adventures Stamp— it’s definitely a top Elle’s Studio fave!

Do you have Mother’s Day photos and everyday motherhood adventures to scrap? I encourage you to take the Everyday Adventures Class, get inspired, and document this special role. Happy creating!

Be sure to check out the Everyday Adventures Mini Album Class in either the class-only or class + stamp options. For easy one-click shopping, you can find the class supplies in a specially priced bundle, too! We know it will inspire you to create your next miniature sized album to document your everyday memories!

Traveler’s Notebook Advice with Andrea Gray

Today Andrea Gray is with us to share a touching traveler’s notebook spread just for her son. Her project is a great reminder that you can create meaningful layouts with very few supplies—showing that the photos + words are what really matter. Let’s take a look.

Hey crafty friends! I hope May has been treating you well! I’m excited to share a new project with you today, a spread in a traveler’s notebook that will eventually be a gift for my teenage son. I made a list of topics I want to give him advice about and when there is a photo that deserves to be documented, this is what happens.

Supplies | May 2017 Kit, Adventure AcrylicApril Labels, Little Moments Blank Labels

While playing at the park with our puppy, I caught him walking away and I couldn’t help but capture his silhouette against the setting sun. The image nearly made me cry just thinking about what little time we have left with him in our house. He’s growing up and I wanted to write a little something to him before he walks away toward his own life.

The top half of the photo was perfect for the Adventure Acrylic, so I adhered that to the photo and left it at that.

I chose the “best things in life” journaling tag from the May 2017 Kit, a sentiment that really nailed the theme of this layout, but I also wanted to make sure I used my own voice so I added my own journaling above it.

Even though the card had a great blue color to compliment the blues in the photo, I also wanted to pull out the pink, yellow and orange of the sunset. To do this I used yellow and orange labels to layer under the card with a little pink die cut from the May 2017 Kit.

This spread is my reminder to my man-child to go on adventures and to not be afraid to step toward something bigger, because the experiences are all going to end up being memories and life is the most important adventure!

A “Happy Accident” Layout with Maggie Massey

It’s often been said that there are no “accidents” in crafting, only opportunities, and today Maggie Massey is here to share a layout that completely backs up that statement, using our May 2017 Kit and add-ons. We know you will love her clean, yet colorful design. Let’s take a look at what she created.

Hello, hello everyone! Maggie here with a look at a layout I created with the May 2017 Kit & extras!

A few days ago, I was sitting down with the May 2017 Kit, waiting for inspiration to hit. I had already picked the photo I wanted to use, and I had been going through some of the tags, looking at them, and then just sort of tossing the tags I thought might look good off to the side.

I’d gotten through the kit and I turned to grab the tags I’d chosen when I noticed that they had fallen into a kind of pattern—a little stack of tags, with some of the designs showing slightly off balance, but also sorta cool. And right then I knew how I’d design my page.

I picked up the stack of tags, exactly how they lay, moved them around just a bit, and added my photo on top.

I loved the way it looked! Slightly messy and a little off-kilter, disheveled… and perfect.

I added this stack to a white cardstock background, backed with a few strips of patterned paper from the Live Laugh Love Collection 12″ x 12″ Paper Collection, and then just popped on a splash of ink and few embellishments.

The Dated Stamp, my very favorite, and a small little piece of typed journaling rounded out the page.

Supplies | May 2017 Kit, Fun Outdoors Wood Veneer Words, Stars and Hearts Mixed Acrylic, Live Laugh Love 12″ x 12″ Paper Collection, Dated Stamp

This may just be my new favorite page, and to think, it happened all by “accident!” Thank you so much for taking a look! I hope I’ve inspired you to take a look at the messy little stacks on your desk. Maybe that’s where your next design inspiration will lie!

A Tranquil Pocket Page Layout with Laura Hager

Our new May 2017 Kit features so many amazing colors, but with a predominance of blue and green, it was perfect for Laura’s pocket page spread, documenting a trip to a garden. We LOVE how she created a custom filler tag using our new Today Stamp, and we know it will inspire you! Let’s take a look at what she created.

Hey there! It’s Laura here again! I love all things creative! I love listening to podcasts and audiobooks about creativity. I love watching YouTube videos about it. But what I love most is talking to friends about their creativity and what is inspiring them. I started a Facebook group a few months ago and we meet up to do crafts, field trips, and go out to eat and talk about creativity. It’s the best! I made this layout to document our most recent outing to the Desert Botanical Garden in Phoenix, AZ.

Supplies | May 2017 Kit, Adventure Sticker Labels, Bike Ride Stamp, Today Stamp, Live Laugh Love 6″ x 6″ Paper StackLetter and Number Stickers – White

I was my first time to the DBG and it was amazing! I knew I wanted to include multiple photos to show off all the pretty plants we saw. I wanted to keep the main color of the page green, so I pulled out some fun journaling tags from the May 2017 Kit. I cut down a 6″ x 6″ patterned paper from the Live Laugh Love 6″ x 6″ Paper Stack for my title card, then I just added white alphabet stickers to create my title. I love the contrast of the white on the green.

The little die cuts in the monthly kits are some of my favorite things to use. There are so many to choose from and they are small enough to add over photos or journaling tags. I used several of the die cuts from the May 2017 Kit to embellish my photos. As always, I used my tiny stapler to attach the embellishments. I also used the “We Were Here” sticker from the Adventure Sticker Labels.

For the bottom filler tag, I stamped “Sunday” from the Today Stamp in a repeating pattern. To create a level pattern, I chose a different letter to start the next line. So after I stamped the top line, I started the next line on the “D’s” in Sunday. I continued until the whole card was filled up. Then I stamped “weekend” and “adventure” from the Bike Ride Stamp onto cardstock, cut them out, and stapled them to the card.

This layout is simple, but I love how it captured the peaceful day of walking around the garden. It was such a beautiful day with such amazing friends. What will you be documenting with your May Kit? Be sure to share your creations on Instagram using the hashtag #EllesStudio!

One Product, Three Ways: Wood Veneer Hexagons

Thanks for joining us for the May edition of One Product, Three Ways. This month we are featuring our new Wood Veneer Hexagons, and our three designers playing along in the challenge this month have used them on three different projects to inspire you! Let’s see what they have created.

Supplies | May 2017 Kit, Wood Veneer HexagonsMay 2017 Digital Cut File, Adventure Sticker Labels, Live Laugh Love 12″ x 12″ Paper Collection, Live Laugh Love Stamp, Pink Puffy Alphabet Stickers

Meghann Andrew | I love these hexagons, especially for the fact that they are different sizes and some contain images or sayings. I paired them with the 3″ x 4″ colorful hexagon tag from the May 2017 Kit to document my favorite fizzy beverage, Ale 8. It’s customary for us to buy one at the end of a long hike in my home state, so it was perfect that this month’s May 2017 Digital Cut File included the word “hike.”

I wanted to arrange the wood veneer pieces so that they resembled the effervescence from a fizzy drink, so I turned them different ways and lined them up in a vertical line, going right through my photo. I decided to paint some of them with acrylic paint, matching the red, green and yellow on my layout and in my photo. To mask off some of the hexagon, I used washi tape before painting. For a different texture, I paired these up with hexagon enamel shapes to finish up my layout.

Supplies | May 2017 Kit, Wood Veneer HexagonsToday StampSpring Sequins

Daniela Dobson | I used the Wood Veneer Hexagons as part of the embellishment on my card. I wanted there to be a variety of textures, so I traced three of the smallest hexagon onto my cardstock base with a black pen and colored the shape in with markers. I stamped “Hello” from the Today Stamp with three different ink colors on the sun 3″ x 4″ tag from the May 2017 Kit, and adhered it to the card base using foam adhesive. To finish off the card, I outlined the base with a thin, black border with and added sequins.

Supplies | May 2017 Kit, Wood Veneer Hexagons, Spring Sequins, Today StampArrow Stickers

Jamie Leija | I’m super excited about hexagons these days. They’re so different from you typical basic shape! I love how they interact with each other and can nestle alongside each other so neatly. I created two 3″ x 4″ pocket page filler tags using the awesome Wood Veneer Hexagons. I love that there was a mix of plain, shapes and words decorating the veneer. I also love that the May 2017 Kit came with two journaling tags featuring this awesome shape. Also, if you look closely, the middle of each Spring Sequin is a hexagon, so they were perfect to pair alongside the veneer and the journaling tags.

Be sure to pick up the Wood Veneer Hexagons in the shop today before they’re gone, and if you have a great idea on how to use them, we’d love to see your project on Instagram using the hashtag #EllesStudio!  Just by doing so, you could win a $10 gift certificate to the shop, and be featured here on our blog and our Instagram account.

Creating a Bold Title with Guest Tegan Skwiat

We are so excited to welcome May’s guest designer, Tegan Skwiat, to the Elle’s Studio blog this month. Tegan’s amazing use of color and pattern always have us wanting to see more from her, and we know that she will inspire you with her three projects this month, using the latest Elle’s Studio products. Let’s see what she has for us today!

Hi everyone! I am beyond excited to be a guest designer for Elle’s Studio this month. I have always loved Elle’s Studio products because they are so colorful and fun! I am excited to share my first project with you all. As soon as I saw the Live Love Laugh Collection, I knew it would be perfect for documenting my family’s trip to California last year!

Supplies | Live Laugh Love 12″ x 12″ Paper Collection, Live Laugh Love Word Labels, Live Laugh Love Bits & Pieces, Live Laugh Love Puffy Stickers, Live Laugh Love Wood Veneers, Live Laugh Love Washi Tape Stickers, Live Laugh Love Enamel DotsApril 2017 Digital Cut File

I love that Elle’s Studio offers cut files each month that coordinate with the monthly kit! My layout is about our fun family trip so of course I had to use the “family” and “fun” from the April 2017 Digital Cut File! I enjoy using my die cut machine to make bold titles using fun patterned papers like the one on this layout. I first cut my titles from my favorite patterned papers in the Live Laugh Love 12″ x 12″ Paper Collection, and then cut a second set from dark gray cardstock. I then adhered the patterned paper cut outs onto the gray cardstock cut outs slightly off center to add interest to the title.

I can’t get enough of the Bits & Pieces embellishment pack! I love that it includes lots of different shaped and colored tags that I can quickly add my journaling to. I accented the tag with the “right now” word label cut out and the “currently” die cut piece from the Bits & Pieces pack. A strip of the yellow Live Laugh Love Washi Tape Sticker peeking out from behind the tag adds a pop of color.

I wanted to convey that we had lots of fun so I repeated the “fun” portion of my title two more times. I love the graphic punch of color it adds to the layout! I finished accenting the title with more Bits & Pieces and Live Laugh Love Puffy Stickers, and Live Laugh Love Wood Veneers—isn’t that scalloped border so cool?!

I had a blast working with the Live Love Laugh Collection! I can not wait to use it to document more fun times from our family trip, and I hope I have inspired you to use a fun bold title on your next layout!
