An Everyday Motherhood Traveler’s Notebook with Tessa Buys

We are so excited about how popular our Everyday Adventures Mini Album Class has been with you all, and our design team has been inspired to put the class ideas and supplies to good use on their own projects. Today, Tessa Buys is with us to share a beautiful traveler’s notebook celebrating motherhood, documenting everyday “selfie” photos with her kids. Let’s see what she created.

When I think of my everyday adventures, they almost always have something to do with my role as mother. When I decided on what photos and stories to document inspired by the Everyday Adventures Mini Album Class, I decided on “mom selfies”. Every year on Mother’s Day I wrangle my kids together for mother-son and mother-daughter selfies. This year’s photos are the focus of my traveler’s notebook pages and the inspiration for everyday stories about our crazy life.

I set aside a few pages for each of my four kids and started with the one who made me Mom first. While every page is different, they all consist of some patterned paper (either 3.75 inch wide pieces, or pennants cut from the leftover scraps). On this particular page, I used my typewriter to add a quote and then embellished the pennant with a wood veneer heart. The other side is a mix of washi tape stickers, cut outs from the class printable, and die-cuts.

For boy number two I filled one side with patterned paper and the other with white space. The Jonah stamps are my favorite alphabet stamp right now, so I loved stamping out his name. The cluster of die-cuts, wood veneer, printable die cuts, washi tape and enamel dots is simple, but fun.

I loved playing up the pink elements of the Live Laugh Love Collection for my daughter’s pages. I started by cutting out the printable tulip and basing my color choices on that. I copied my patterned paper design from earlier pages. The other side became a stack of washi tape stickers, labels, die-cuts and stamps. I seriously love the Everyday Adventures Stamp— it’s definitely a top Elle’s Studio fave!
