Everyday Adventures-Inspired with Tessa Buys

We are loving the feedback that we’ve received from the Everyday Adventures Mini Album Class, and today we’re lucky to have Tessa Buys back on the blog with us to share more of her class-inspired traveler’s notebook; as well as give us tips on how to use up the paper scraps from the Live Laugh Love 6″ x 6″ Paper Stack in our mini albums!
 
Hello, Elle’s Studio friends! I’m back with more pages from my Everyday Adventures Mini Album Class-inspired traveler’s notebook. In my first post, I shared how I used the Everyday Adventures Product Bundle to create pages about my adventures in being a mom, and today I’m sharing how to use every scrap to create unique pages.

I love the Live Laugh Love 6″ x 6″ Paper Stack. It’s a great size for a travelers notebook, and after you’ve trimmed the papers to size, the leftover pieces can creatively be used to create more layouts. For example, I had two narrow pieces left in these teal polka-dot and gray star papers. I cut each one into strips and then overlapped the strips across the page spread, bordering my photo.
 

 
On this page spread, I used more leftover strips to create side borders. The wide striped pattern of the paper made this technique especially fun.
 

 

 
On these pages, I didn’t use a bit of patterned paper. Instead, I aligned all my photos to the center and filled in spaces with labels, die cuts, and a border Live Laugh Love Puffy Sticker cut in half.
 

 

 
I love the  Live Laugh Love Washi Tape Stickers, and to make them go farther, I cut them into pieces. Some I cut in half long-wise to create narrow strips.

Layered together, and stamped over with the class’ exclusive stamp set, The grouping of tapes make a great top and bottom border on this page.

A Field Trip Pocket Page with Andrea Gray

Sometimes instead of covering a week or a month, a pocket page spread can be useful for capturing multiple photos from a single event. Today Andrea Gray is sharing how she documented a school trip using the June Kit and extras, and we love the result! Let’s take a look. 
 
Summer is almost here and I can already smell the grills and the sunshine! The June Kit from Elle’s Studio is perfect for documenting those fun outdoor memories! This month’s kit is full of fun journaling tags that are perfect for your pockets so in this post I’ll show you some fun things to do with them.

I always begin with photos and I am using these fun pictures from a field trip with my 3rd grader and his class. The colors from the photos include greens, blues and reds so I selected tags and die cuts that coordinated.
 

 
I’ll get right into the finished tags and then we’ll talk about fun things you can do with each of them!
 

 
I love using the 4″ x 6″ tags to make titles, especially when the whole spread is a single event. I used the new Stanley solid and outline alphabet stamps to make a title, then added some other words in my own handwriting. Sometimes just adding a cluster or two of stamps can brighten up a tag. I used the plus sign cluster from the Everyday Adventures Class Stamp along with the “love this” sentiment on a plain notebook paper tag. It’s simple, but it makes a statement.
 

 
Sometimes you just need a filler card with no photos or words. So I stapled the blue tab and a die cut yellow star to the green striped tag from the June Kit to add color and balance. It does its job for sure! The “FOR THE RECORD” tag is so perfect for listing some facts about the day. The third one here started out with just the red label. I added the word BUS with the White Puffy Alpha Stickers and stamped hello vertically to add interest (and because I didn’t have space the other way). Getting creative with word placement is always fun!
 

 
This 4″ x 6″ tag is busy with all those colorful stripes so I opted for a black & white photo and a simple cluster of a yellow tab from the June Kit, Puffy Heart Stickers and a simple sentiment from the Sights and Sounds Stamp. Sometimes less can be more! The TODAY tag was fun because adding random items straight down the middle made me so happy! With a tag as open as this one, you have so much freedom. The white space leaves plenty of room for a 2″ x 2″ photo, or a good chunk of journaling, but I decided to have some fun with die cuts from the June Kit and the Sights and Sounds Stamp!

 
The last one here is the “currently” card from the kit. I loved adapting it to what I was doing during this trip instead of the typical “right now” things of life. For an event like this, nailing down those details can be so important and often missed!
 

 
I hope you’ve seen some ideas for ways to use the tags from the June Kit! I love them for pocket pages because they are crazy cute and super versatile!

Explore Utah Lake (and a Process Video) with Jen Schow

The colors in the June kit are so versatile—we’ve seen baseball games, Disney trips and carnival rides documented by our team this month! Today, Jen Schow is focusing on the yellows, blues and greens in the kit to scrapbook beautiful outdoor scenery, just proving that any subject can be documented with our new products. Let’s take a look at her page.

Hey there, it’s Jen Schow here to share a layout and process video using the new June kit + extras! I love all of the blues, greens, and yellows this month and decided to focus on those colors for this layout about Utah Lake.

I cut up a few of the kit journaling tags, using the striped tag as a mat for the photo, and turned the “yes to” tag into a die cut. I love the versatility of these tags!


 
I added some stamped phrases using the Hello Sunshine and Everyday Adventures Stamps, and mixed in Puffy Heart Stickers with all of die cuts and a few paint splatters as well.

Creating a colorful background with Allie Stewart

We are always inspired by the backgrounds that Allie Stewart creates on her pages, and today’s layout is no exception! She was inspired by one of our most popular products, the Puffy Heart Stickers, to create a page with such an eye-catching rainbow design! Let’s see how it came together.

Hi everyone! Today I have a super easy and fun layout to share using the new June exclusive items! I was inspired by the new Puffy Heart Stickers, and decided to make them the main focal point on my page.

Supplies | June Kit, Cork Tabs, Puffy Heart Stickers, Smile Acrylic, Live Laugh Love 12″ x 12″ Paper Collection

I used my Sillhouette Cameo to sketch nested circles onto the woodgrain background from the Live Laugh Love 12″ x 12″ Paper Collection. Next, I poked holes for stitching in each circle, and hand-stitched in rainbow order to match the hearts. It didn’t take very long at all, because they were all just a straight stitch. I put on a movie and was done in no time!

After my background was completed, I used tags from the June Kit for the layers around my photo . I used a small photo in order to keep as much of the stitched background visible as possible. I added the Smile Acrylic for my title, and used some of the die cuts from the kit around the title. My favorite embellishments this month are the adorable Cork Tabs, and my layout wasn’t complete without one!


As you can see, this layout was very easy to make! Letting the background do all the talking makes the process go quickly. It was fun using an embellishment to create a background! One Product, Three Ways: Stanley Alphabet Stamps

If you checked out the new projects created by our design team with the new June releases, you may have seen that we’re going just a bit crazy over the new guy in the shop— Stanley. Our new perfect alphabet stamp comes in both a solid and outline, and today Neela, Laura and Daniela are sharing how they used them on their projects! Let’s take a look at what they created.

Laura Hager | This was one of the most fun scrapbook layouts I’ve made. It was so fun to experiment and play with the different ink colors. I’ve been working a lot on my garden, so I wanted to document some of the plants I’ve added and that I hope to add soon. The Stanley alphabet stamp sets are so great! There are so many possibilities for this combination of stamps. To make this layout, I first cut twelve 3″ x 3″ squares of white cardstock. I set them all out and then started stamping. I stamped the first name of a plant with the solid alphabet and then another continuing across, then down to fill up the entire page. I made sure to switch up the ink colors, so the same color wasn’t adjacent to itself. When I added all the colors, I went back over the words with the outline alphabet in black. Lastly, I added a current photo of my garden and a June Label that I typed on. I love how this layout turned out! It was so fun to work on and the colors really brightened my album!

Neela Nalam | You have to trust me when I say that I am not a great stamper, but these stamps are forgiving! For my project, I decided to use the stamps to create a title. I wanted to use both the filled and the outline stamps. I first stamped the solid alphabet with StazOn blue ink, then stamped the outline alphabet slightly to the right of the filled letter with black ink. This gave the letters a dimensional feel. There was a lot of movement in the photos from my son’s baseball season, but I wanted to bring in more by placing the photos at an angle, so I followed suit with the title and other embellishments.

Daniela Dobson | I used the solid alphabet to stamp on white cardstock with blue ink. The easiest way to do this is to lay the  stamps, still on the transparent package backing, face up on your desktop, ink them carefully by dabbing your ink pad to the stamp surface, and pressing a piece of cardstock on the surface of the stamps, applying pressure evenly all over to the stamped image.

To embellish the front I added a journaling card with stamped “hello,” using the same blue ink and then outlining some of the letters with black ink using the Stanley outline alphabet. I added “friend” using the White Puffy Alphabet Stickers to a blue June Label.

Puppy Love with Tessa Buys

Primary colors are always an easy choice. They’re neither masculine or feminine, and can be useful for a variety of subjects. If you’ve seen our June 2017 Kit, you’ll know that it’s full of bright colors, featuring a lot of red, blue and yellow! Today, Tessa Buys is with us to share a page that she started with primary colors, all about puppy love! Let’s see what she made.
 
Hello, Elle’s Studio friends! I’ve had these adorable photos of my little girl doggy-sitting her cousins’ pet just waiting to be scrapped, but the colors in the pictures were throwing me off… until the June Kit arrived at my door, that is! There were just enough red, blue and yellow elements to compliment my photos, and the kit extras made it possible to customize a title and embellish with more bold colors.

I used a 4″ x 6″ tag from the kit as a base for my title. I directly stamped my title onto the card, then stamped and fussy-cut a few of the letters to overlay with foam adhesive. I cannot express how much I love these new Stanley alpha stamps! I first used the Stanley solid stamps with gray and yellow ink. Then, I used the outline stamps in black. I was sure to line them up a little bit “off” for a whimsical look.


 
I am a huge fan of the Puffy Heart Stickers, so I was excited to see a new package that coordinates perfectly with the June kit. I added several primary-colored hearts in a cascade down my page. Hearts = love, even puppy love!


 
The Live, Laugh, Love Collection has great papers for mixing with primary colors, which is why I chose this gray stripe with a green salvage edge for my background. I love that Elle’s Studio products coordinate so well with each other.

Summer Trails with Guest Designer Krista Wells

We are so excited to welcome our new guest designer for the month of June, Krista Wells. We always love seeing Krista’s clean and graphic designs, which often feature some creative stamping, and we love living vicariously through the travel and food journeys that she documents. Let’s see what she made this week using the new June 2017 Kit and extras!

Hi everyone! Krista Wells here and I’m so excited to be the guest designer for Elle’s Studio this month!

The June Kit is an awesome mix of happy, summer colors and I couldn’t wait to put the awesome kit tags and embellishments to good use telling a story or two from last summer.

We love to hike & use the walking trails a LOT in our city during the summer months. My husband & I have one fur baby named Eugene who keeps us active all year long, but in the summer we really love to get out and explore and have adventures. This double pocket page layout showcases some of our favourite spots to visit in the summer time.

The new Stanley Alphabet Stamps are awesome and the best part is there are two – an outline & a coordinating solid, which means lots of mixing and matching is possible. For the title card in my layout I combined some Brilliance White ink with the solid Stanley alpha stamp to add ‘Let’s Go’ to my picture. In the pocket below, I added some journaling to a cool blue journaling card before adhering the Summer Acrylic to the outside of my pocket page. It fits perfectly under the ‘I want to remember this’ sentiment on the journaling card.


 
I had a few stories already printed on my larger pictures so I kept it simple, adding a few little Cork Tabs above the journaling blocks with my tiny attacher.


 

 
On the opposite page I wanted to use the black Letter and Number Stickers and the 4″ x 6″ days of the week journaling card. I had to chop it in half to place inside my 3″ x 4″ pockets. I added a few of our favourite trails to Tuesday, Friday and Sunday vertically.


 
Finally in the bottom photo I added a few of the die cut pieces from the June 2017 Kit to my photo— a bi-color heart and the ‘capture this’ using my tiny attacher.


 
My favourite pieces of the kit this month are the Cork Tabs! I don’t think they’ll last long around here because I want to put them on everything! Be sure to snag a kit while you can!

Hello! My name is Krista Wells & I’m from St. John’s, Newfoundland, Canada – the most easterly point in North America. I’m a young, thirty-something chick who lives with her husband + fur baby, Eugene. Eugene is prominently featured in my scrapbooks alongside our travel adventures + a ridiculous number of food pics. I love to make mini-albums because I dearly love pocket pages but I can’t let go of layouts either! You could say I’m indecisive but I prefer to call it ‘open minded’ when it comes to my crafting. I’m currently designing for Kelly Purkey and my local store, The Paperie. I also write a bi-monthly article for Simple Scrapper’s Spark magazine.

When I’m not paper crafting I’m either eating or running. I do the latter to regulate the former of course. I love traveling & having adventures, near & far.
