You Are Love With January Guest Designer Heba Alsibai

We are so excited to welcome one of our favorite paper crafting designers as the first guest designer for 2019, Heba Alsibai! Heba’s graphic, bold and colorful designs, especially in her traveler’s notebook spreads, consistently “WOW” us, and we are so excited to share what she’s created using our January kit and add-ons, and her post also includes a process video! Let’s take a look:

Hi everyone! My name is Heba Alsibai and I’m so excited to be this month’s guest designer! There’s so much good stuff in the January release, and I created a traveler’s notebook spread using some of my favorite products in the shop.

Supplies | January 2019 Kit, January Labels, Happiness Found Stickers, XO Wood Confetti, Sweetheart Puffy Stickers, Heart and Star Acetate Die Cuts, All My Heart 6 x 6 Paper Stack, Happy Heart Stamp, Jane Alphabet Stamp

I’m a big fan of the new All My Heart 6 x 6 Paper Stack that released this month and wanted to use as many patterns as I could on my traveler’s notebook spread. To make that happen, I cut them down into vertical strips then tore off the edges to give my layouts some texture. Cutting them virtually also helped make this photo of my daughter stand out.

Once I got all the strips of patterned paper stuck down, I layered my picture with some black tissue paper. I decided to use the Happy Heart Stamp to stamp these adorable polka dots randomly on my spread. I love stamps that can be used to add pattern to a blank background. This simple step adds a lot of interest to any background. I also used that same stamp set to do a little second generation stamping using the “XO” stamp. To complete my stamping I stamped “currently enjoying” right next to my daughter’s picture playing her favorite Play Station game.

I wanted my title to be simple and small. The letters in the Jane Alphabet Stamp were the perfect size for that. Even though these are small alphas, they sure add a big bang to my spread. My title wasn’t big enough to cover the whole strip of patterned paper, so I decided to add one of the Heart and Star Acetate Die Cuts right under it. This definitely added color and filled out the space.

My favorite part of crafting is definitely embellishing. The new January release had plenty of embellishments to choose from. If you know me you know I love puffy stickers, so I ended up adding a few hearts, speech bubbles and dots from the Sweetheart Puffy Stickers. I also made sure to add some of the XO Wood Confetti pieces in, just to bring in a different texture to my spread.

I really loved all the new embellishments and paper that released this month. The colors are so bright and beautiful, they just make you want to create! Check out the process video that I created while making this traveler’s notebook spread:

I can’t wait to share more projects with you using Elle Studio’s new January kit and add-ons

Hello everyone! My name is Heba Alsibai, I’m a mother of two teenagers and a wife to a wonderful husband. My husband and I own a small medical supply company that keeps my husband traveling and me working from home. I love that I’m able to work from home, I get to see my kids go off to school and welcome them home when they get back. I live in the beautiful state of Georgia far from the hustle and bustle of Atlanta. I am a total homebody that loves to read and loves to watch reruns of Friends. But by far my favorite thing to do is crafting. I also love sharing my crafty projects on my YouTube channel and Instagram.

Back in 2001 When I gave birth to my first born, I started keeping a little scrapbook album for him. It wasn’t your traditional scrapbook album. It was more of journaling milestones and documenting pictures with dates. I also did the same with my daughter once she was born. But in 2007 I moved to Dubai and became friends with my next-door neighbor who was an avid scrapbooker. Once she shared her beautiful scrapbooking layouts with me, I was hooked.

My crafting journey started with creating traditional scrapbooking layout. But in 2011 I discovered pocket pages and completely switch to pocket page memory keeping. Documenting our daily stories in pockets became something that I enjoyed because of the ease and simplicity of it.

But in 2016 I found traveler’s notebooks and I was so excited to be able to be creative outside the pocket again. I didn’t know how much I missed creating layouts until I found traveler’s notebooks. What I love the most about these notebooks is the size. They are small, so you never feel overwhelmed or intimidated by the size. Not like a traditional scrapbooking layouts. You can create a spread in no time at all. Some of my favorite memories were done in a traveler’s notebook.

With that said, no matter what format I use, as long as I’m crafting I’m happy :). I’m excited to share some of my layouts with you, using the Elle Studio January kit and embellishments!

Heba will be back here on the blog with us next week, but until then, please follow her beautiful work on her YouTube feed and on Instagram.

How to Use Your Winter Puffy Stickers!

One of our newest puffy sticker embellishment sets in the shop are the Winter Puffy Stickers! These cool-hued stickers have the perfect mix of hearts, twinkles and labels to use on your winter projects!

Let’s take a look at five different ways that you can use these sweet stickers on your next creation:

  1. Add twine to those sweet mittens to make them hang from your photos or page elements. Not only is this a lovely touch to add to your project, but it also adds texture!

2. Instead of twine, you could also use the mittens to hold a label or tag on your project, to draw attention to it!

3. Create a title! The words “hello winter” make a great, simple title to add to your layout, pocket page or traveler’s notebook spread.

4. Use a few of the circles or labels to add color and fill in the negative space in your snowy black and white photos, like Jess Forster did in this winter spread!

5. Top your lovely layers! Given their size and versatile phrases, these puffy stickers are perfect for adding to the top of your layers! Whether on photos, tags or paper, they make the perfect addition to your project!

We want to see how you use your Winter Puffy Stickers! Share your creations on Instagram using the hashtag #EllesStudio to be entered to win a gift card to our shop, and be featured here on our blog and Instagram account!

Let it Snow with Meghann Andrew

Hello there! It’s Meghann Andrew, and I’m so excited to be with you for my first post in 2019! Today, I’m sharing my love for the Let it Snow Stamp! Let’s take a look at this winter staple for your stash:

This fun stamp includes the perfect mix of elements: phrases, embellishments and title possibilities! Living in Texas does not produce many snow days, but I had to use this stamp to document our first snow experience after living here six years!

Supplies | Snow Day Journaling Tags, December Blank Label Stickers, Winter Puffy Stickers, Navy Puffy Alphabet Stickers, Large Jane Alphabet Stamp – Outline, Let it Snow Stamp, Noteworthy 12 x 12 Paper Collection, Family Fun 12 x 12 Paper Collection

I started off by setting the color scheme for my layout, taken from the colors in my photos, using the column of paper on the left side of the layout using the Noteworthy 12 x 12 Paper Collection and Family Fun 12 x 12 Paper Collection. My photos, which I printed at 3″ x 4″, created a second column along my patterned papers. From there, it was time to use the Let it Snow Stamp in a variety of ways.

I loved the dark pink section at the top of the pink Noteworthy 12 x 12 Paper Collection paper, and decided to highlight the “winter fun” phrase here. It fit perfectly, and keeping it tone-on-tone using pink ink, it didn’t distract too much from the right side of my layout.

Along the column of photos, I added circle snowflakes and hearts from the Winter Puffy Stickers, but also wanted to add a small tag that included the date. The “snowfall total” tag was perfect for this, and I even recorded our snowfall total—a measly 1″, but still a big deal here in Houston!

My favorite part of this layout was the curtain of colorful snowflakes that I added to the right side of the page. I started by drawing light pencil lines in alternating lengths, about 1-1/4″ away from each each other. I selected my ink colors based off of my chosen patterned papers—light pink, dark pink, navy, light and dark teal—and got to work stamping them centered on the lines. Once they were all complete, some quick stitched lines in pink and teal using my sewing machine added some texture. I also wanted to add more dimension, so I stamped and fussy-cut five snowflakes to “pop” off the page.

I had to add a bit of sparkle to my page, so I grabbed my iridescent glitter glue and got to work “glitzing” parts of my snowflakes. Once that was dry, I worked on my title. The lovely Navy Puffy Alphabet Stickers spelled out “Texas” and the outline Large Jane Alphabet Stamp, fussy cut and added with dimensional adhesive, added the word “snow.” Once it was adhered, I again added glitter glue inside of the lines and allowed it to dry fully. I love that the curtain of snowflakes leads your eye to my title and journaling below.

I hope I’ve inspired you to pull out your Let it Snow Stamp to document even the most meager of snowfalls! Thanks so much for stopping by today!

Large Jane Alpha Stamp Love with Tracey Fox

Our newest alphabet stamp is inspiring us to go big or go home—it’s the Large Jane alphabet! Tracey Fox has decided to make these BIG alphas front and center on her latest layout, and we know you will LOVE what she has to share with us today!

I’m so excited to share a layout with you that I made with my new favorite stamps — the Large Jane Alphabet Stamps! When I saw these large 1.5-inch tall alphas, I knew I wanted to play with stamping them and fussy cutting the letters out, but I didn’t know just how big I would go with my stamped title until I decided what story I wanted to document. Once I settled on making a layout about the role of the Beatles song “All You Need is Love” in my best friend’s wedding last month, I started figuring out how the song title would fit on the page, and I got more and more excited as I realized that I could fill page from top to bottom with an entire chorus of the song!

Supplies | Large Jane Alphabet Stamps – Outline, Large Jane Alphabet Stamps – Solid, Large Jane Number Stamp, Noteworthy Bits and Pieces, Noteworthy Puffy Stickers, Noteworthy Epoxy Stickers, Noteworthy 6 x 6 Paper Stack, Noteworthy 12 x 12 Paper Collection

I stamped the Large Jane outline stamps onto a variety of patterned papers from the Noteworthy 12 x 12 Paper Collection and theNoteworthy 6 x 6 Paper Stack. I also stamped some letters on white cardstock so I could fill them in with the Large Jane solid stamps in ink colors matching the layout. Since the Large Jane Number Stamp includes the outline and solid versions of symbols and punctuation marks, I was also able to add some commas into the mix. I popped in a movie and went to work fussy cutting all of the letters with precision scissors.

After I laid out and adhered all of the letters, I printed my photos at 1.5″ tall, matted them on some paper from the Noteworthy collection, and stuck them down. I also pulled a few small embellishments from the Noteworthy Puffy Stickers, Epoxy Stickers, and Bits and Pieces and added them to the photos. I chose a purple heart diecut from the Noteworthy Bits and Pieces to use in place of the “o” on the word “love” in that row.

Next, I typed my journaling in a 1.5″ tall text box and printed it onto clear sticker paper so I could adhere it right to the layout.

To give the page a few finishing touches, I machine stitched through each row of letters and added a few black ink splatters across the page.

Thanks for taking a look!

New Year Goals Documented with Melissa Mann

You may have many goals for 2019, but to keep yourself accountable, why not choose just one and document it? Our December 2018 Kit and add-ons, as well as our December mid-release products are the perfect supplies to do just that, and Melissa Mann is with us today to illustrate that—on a new layout!

Hello and Happy New Year! This is Melissa with you today and I’m so excited to be joining Elle’s Studio design team for another year and I have a brand new project to share with you today!

Supplies | December 2018 Kit, October 2018 Kit, Cork Tabs, Small Months of the Year Wood Veneers, Navy Puffy Alphabet Stickers, Everyday Puffy Labels, Noted Stamp, Live Laugh Love 12 x 12 Paper Collection, Noteworthy 12 x 12 Paper Collection

My challenge for this layout was to create a New Year’s project. One of my goals this year is to read some books! I used to be a great enthusiast for books—I always had my nose in a book. My very first job was working in my local library and to be honest with you, I wish I *still* worked in the library! Over the last few years, though, I have not read anywhere near like I used to and I’ve missed it. So, this year, I have made a goal to read this list of 10 books on my layout!

To start the background of this layout. I layered a piece of smooth white cardstock on top of a piece of patterned paper from the Live Laugh Love 12 x 12 Paper Collection. I then took strips of patterned paper from the Noteworthy 12 x 12 Paper Collection and sewed it down around the outside border of the white card stock. After this was stitched down, I stamped the grid background stamp from the Noted Stamp in a dark blue and a gray ink; this was stamped all over the middle of the smooth white card stock. I used a 4″ x 6″ journaling tag to type my list of 10 books and layered that against some 3″ x 4″ journaling tags from the December 2018 Kit. I also layered two Instax photos next to the journaling tags.

The next part of my layout was to adhere the Small Months of the Year Wood Veneers to the upper half of my layout! This is such a fun element to add to your projects!

Lastly, I created my title block in the bottom half of my layout. I used the Navy Puffy Alphabet Stickers along with stamped numbers, which I cut out and adhered to a label from the December 2018 Kit. I placed some different embellishments around my layout such as die-cuts and the awesome Everyday Puffy Labels.

What goals do you have for this next year? Why don’t you create a layout or mini album about it and share with us? We would love to see your projects in our Elle’s Studio Facebook Group!

Thanks for stopping by!
