You may have many goals for 2019, but to keep yourself accountable, why not choose just one and document it? Our December 2018 Kit and add-ons, as well as our December mid-release products are the perfect supplies to do just that, and Melissa Mann is with us today to illustrate that—on a new layout!
Hello and Happy New Year! This is Melissa with you today and I’m so excited to be joining Elle’s Studio design team for another year and I have a brand new project to share with you today!

My challenge for this layout was to create a New Year’s project. One of my goals this year is to read some books! I used to be a great enthusiast for books—I always had my nose in a book. My very first job was working in my local library and to be honest with you, I wish I *still* worked in the library! Over the last few years, though, I have not read anywhere near like I used to and I’ve missed it. So, this year, I have made a goal to read this list of 10 books on my layout!
To start the background of this layout. I layered a piece of smooth white cardstock on top of a piece of patterned paper from the Live Laugh Love 12 x 12 Paper Collection. I then took strips of patterned paper from the Noteworthy 12 x 12 Paper Collection and sewed it down around the outside border of the white card stock. After this was stitched down, I stamped the grid background stamp from the Noted Stamp in a dark blue and a gray ink; this was stamped all over the middle of the smooth white card stock. I used a 4″ x 6″ journaling tag to type my list of 10 books and layered that against some 3″ x 4″ journaling tags from the December 2018 Kit. I also layered two Instax photos next to the journaling tags.
The next part of my layout was to adhere the Small Months of the Year Wood Veneers to the upper half of my layout! This is such a fun element to add to your projects!
Lastly, I created my title block in the bottom half of my layout. I used the Navy Puffy Alphabet Stickers along with stamped numbers, which I cut out and adhered to a label from the December 2018 Kit. I placed some different embellishments around my layout such as die-cuts and the awesome Everyday Puffy Labels.
What goals do you have for this next year? Why don’t you create a layout or mini album about it and share with us? We would love to see your projects in our Elle’s Studio Facebook Group!
