Home Sweet Home with Patricia Roebuck

Autumn is a time where we start celebrating being at home—making it comfy and cozy for the change in season, getting it prepped for upcoming holidays, and Patricia Roebuck has a homey pocket page featuring our new Home Wood Veneers that we think you will just love! Let’s take a look.

Happy fall, Elle’s Studio friends! It doesn’t seem to matter what season we are in, I can always enjoy being a homebody and if you live with pets and other family, there’s plenty of photo-ops for those comfy cozy home days. In my case, my husband and my daughter caught me either sleeping in or napping during the day while my cats decided to claim ownership of me.  For today’s project, I created a traveler’s notebook spread with a pocket page to capture that mood using the Home Wood Veneers.

Supplies | September 2019 Kit, September 2019 Digital Cut File, September Labels, Puffy Autumn Heart Stickers, Happy Moments Puffy Stickers, Home Wood Veneers, Home Sweet Home 6 x 6 Paper Stack

With the Home Wood Veneers setting the mood for my layout, I went with a different background for my full-size traveler’s notebook page by using a dark brown woodgrain cardstock. I used the 12″ x 12″ heart background found in the September 2019 Digital Cut File as a stencil on my background using white watercolor, allowing it to drip and even creating some splatters.  It looks wonderful seeping into the woodgrain of the paper. Next, I placed my photo in the center and framed it with the flowers and leaves from the September 2019 Digital Cut File, cut from patterns in the Home Sweet Home 6 x 6 Paper Stack. Then, I layered the house and ‘home’ veneer pieces within my cluster of flowers and leaves.

Before adhering the house wood veneer, I painted the roof with yellow paint and added embroidery floss between the roof and the house to create color and texture. On the door, I added a Puffy Autumn Heart Sticker.  These colors complement the flowers and leaves I’ve cut from the Home Sweet Home 6 x 6 Paper Stack.

For the “home” wood veneer, I used liquid glue to adhere it to my background, and then punched holes to create “X” stitching vertically on the ‘O,’ repeating the homey feel and mood I’ve created with the woodgrain and heart background, creating a hidden “xoxo.”  I added a Happy Moments Puffy Sticker to the center of the ‘O’ to start my triangle of the yellow paint on the roof of the wood veneer house above, then I added one long straight stitch using the same embroidery floss to run the length of the page for some fun, to add more texture, lead the eye up and down the page, and as a way to break up the ‘M’ and the ‘E’ of the ‘home’ wood veneer.

For my right side, I used the colorful heart September Kit tag to tie in with my hearts background and theme on the left. I also added a label die cut from the September Kit and painted the “love lives here” Home Wood Veneer to finish my triangle of that same color I created on the left and adhered that in the center.  To continue the “xoxo” theme I started, I added more ‘X’ stitching to some of the hearts, as well as the “X” Happy Moments Puffy Stickers on either side of my circle veneer.

My last pocket is a photo taking up most of the pocket, but I was still able to bring the mood of my layout and the colors to this photo by using the Happy Moments Puffy Stickers, the September Labels, and the Home Wood Veneer “let’s stay in” label, adding yellow paint on either end of it to create another spot of that same color.

The Home Wood Veneers are perfect for your homebody days caught sleeping/napping, cooking, or hanging out, but they are also adorable for your holiday visits with family or friends! Either way, they will add an overall feel-good home touch to your next project!

Designing with Digitals with Melissa Mann

Dust off your die-cut machine and get ready to be inspired! Digital die cuts and printables are a great addition to our monthly kit, and can be used over and over again in different ways to add interest and amazing elements to your project! Melissa Mann is here with us today to share just how well these products coordinate with our physical products and how you can use them in really creative ways! Let’s take a look!

Good morning, friends! This is Melissa with you here to share a brand new project created with my leftover bits and pieces of my September monthly kit and add-ons and the September DIGITAL products!

supplies | September 2019 Kit, September 2019 Digital Cut File, September Print and Cut Labels, Autumn Tiny Everyday Label Stickers, Good Times Stamp, Title Builder Vol. 3 Stamp, Title Builder Vol. 2 Stamp, Home Sweet Home 6 x 6 Paper Stack, Noteworthy Bits and Pieces, Noteworthy 12″ x 12″ Paper Collection

I knew right away that I wanted to use the September Print and Cut Labels and that fabulous “LIFE” die cut from the September 2019 Digital Cut File. I also had a couple of pieces of the heart background die cut that I had saved from one of my previous projects, and decided to use them up to create a border on my project.

To begin, I printed a brand new sheet of the September Print and Cut Labels without lines. I knew I was going to use these with some heavy duty stamping to create a vertical row of embellishments down my layout. Once I printed the PDF page, I used various words and phrases from the Good Times, Title Builder Vol. 2 and Title Builder Vol. 3 Stamps to add to my labels. I used only black ink to really give it a punch and make sure it stood out on my project.

Once I had all of the labels stamped, I cut them out and layered them down the length of my page where I had already stitched down the pieces of the kraft card stock and patterned paper strips from the Home Sweet Home 6 x 6 Paper Stack. I stitched the labels down and then layered a few Autumn Tiny Everyday Label Stickers on top.

Because the labels created such a strong graphic element to my project, I needed my title to stand out, but not create another strong element. I decided to die cut the word “life” using the September 2019 Digital Cut File and add the dashes around the edge of the word using a black pen.

I really loved how this layout came together! One of the best things about the monthly digital elements is that they can be used OVER and OVER again in so many different ways. These digital files can be used on layouts, cards, mini books, or daily documentation. I hope you are enjoying your September kits, and you’ll add digitals to the physical products to create something amazing today! Thanks for stopping by!

“Inspired By” with Daniela

Hi there, it’s Daniela and I’m so excited to share a new layout with you today! It’s my turn to create a layout inspired by another design team member project, and I chose this beautiful page, created by Amanda-jayne Baldwin:

I’m stunned by Amanda’s creations each and every month! I simply love her style and there are always so many beautiful details to discover. What I liked about this page is the way she arranged her elements with a large paper strip on the left side and a big display for the picture in the upper center of the page. I also like the way she created her title, so I did a really close scrap lift. Here is my layout:

Supplies | September 2019 Kit, September Labels, Shine Die Cuts, Heart and Star Acetate Die Cuts, Magical Memories Acetate Die Cuts, Puffy Autumn Heart Stickers, Happy Moments Puffy Stickers, Home Wood Veneers, Life Right Now Acrylic, Good Times StampHome Sweet Home 6 x 6 Paper Stack,         Noteworthy 12 x 12 Paper Collection

Since I wanted to highlight a picture of my son, I went for greens and dark blue to create a rather masculine page. I’m also a huge fan of white on white so I placed the Life Right Now Acrylic on the white cardstock. A wood veneer label from the Home Wood Veneers and some green embellishments build a kind of frame around the big white title and add further details.

I love combining different textures, and paper, puffy stickers, die-cuts and acetates built little clusters on my page! I really love the effect you can create by using acetates. You can look through them and get so many different color ranges by combining them with other items. Color splashes on white cardstock are also a good choice if you want to add subtle color and texture on your page.

Sometimes, there are so many papers I’d love to use. So why not use all of them? If that’s the case, I tend to layer all the papers. In the end, you can only see little stripes of each paper, but this way you can see all the beauty that a combination of patterns and colors can bring. The great thing about ES paper stacks is that the included papers always match perfectly, and you can combine them in so many ways, like I did here with the Home Sweet Home 6 x 6 Paper Stack.

Journaling the Hard with Wendy Antenucci

Struggles that we have in our live deserve to be recorded, too, just so that we can appreciate the good times! Today design team member Wendy Antenucci is reminding us of this, and sharing a tip on how you can get those not-so-perfect details included your project in an easy way using our September kit and add-ons.

Hello everyone! It’s Wendy here today with a traveler’s notebook spread in my “Back-2-School TN” which focuses on my journaling. One of my boys has not transitioned well to school life and so this spread was important to me to write down the facts of the year.

Supplies | September 2019 Kit, Die Cut Labels — Jewel Tones, Happy Moments Puffy StickersHome Sweet Home 6 x 6 Paper Stack, Good Times Stamp

I continued to use white cardstock to make the base of my notebook, which allows me to customize each page to fit the story. I wanted to bring some primary colors into this school page, so I chose some of my leftovers from the Home Sweet Home Paper Stack to mat my pictures. I also used the “new season/new routine” 4″ x 6″ tag from the September Kit to further the theme of our new schedule.

The “rated” tag from the September kit was the perfect addition to add to my pictures, as he definitely was not rating this experience very many stars… Can you tell from his look?!

I used a star die-cut from the September Kit and puffy stickers from the Happy Moments Puffy Stickers to embellish and continue to tie together my primary color choice for this spread.

The “currently” sticker from the Happy Moments Puffy Stickers added in the time frame for my journaling and added a pop of red to really give the page a school feel.

The jewel-tone Die Cut Labels were the perfect place to hold my journaling and the numbers from the Good Times Stamp allowed me to number each step of the journey in my son’s transition to school. By using list-style journaling I could focus on the details, without all of the emotion that this journey has brought to the surface in both my son and I.

What is something that you’d really like to document, but maybe you don’t want to really share the emotions at this time? Lists are a great way to get your journaling down in a more matter-of-fact method, sticking just to the details, providing a quick easy way to write the details in your story. I hope you’ll give this journaling technique a try today when you have to document the not-so-perfect memories of your life!

A Colorful September Spread with Sabrina Poole

Our September kit and add-ons sure were full of deep and rich colors, and today Sabrina Poole is here to share how she used each and every one of them on her latest pocket page spread to record her month of September! Let’s take a look at which tag from the September 2019 Kit inspired her colorful project!

Hi This is Sabrina, and today I have a colorful project to share with you using the September kit and extras! Don’t you just love the rainbow of beautiful colors included in these products? I put together a 9″ x 12″ pocket page spread to document the first half of September in my family’s pocket page album!

Supplies | September 2019 KitSeptember Labels, Puffy Autumn Heart Stickers, Small Months of the Year Wood Veneers, Black Puffy Alphabet Stickers, Home Wood Veneers, Happy Moments Puffy Stickers, Life Right Now Acrylic, Home Sweet Home 6 x 6 Paper Stack

My starting point was the multicolor numbered journaling tag from the kit, which set the stage for my multicolored spread! I knew that using this particular card would allow me to use lots of color and would help coordinate the product with my photos, which included a lot of color! I also loved the idea of including eight highlights from the month.

I also decided to use the “life” word from the Life Right Now Acrylic to create a title tag for my page. I decided to outline the acrylic in an orange piece of paper from the Home Sweet Home 6 x 6 Paper Stack. The easiest way to matte this acrylic was to lightly trace the acrylic on the orange paper with pencil, then cut out the pencil outline, leaving a little extra room. I finished the title card with some Black Puffy Alphabet Stickers and a wood veneer “SEP” from the Small Months of the Year Wood Veneers.

This month proved to have a lot of stories even though this spread only covered half of the month. It’s been a busy September so far! I knew I could document all these little stories with the September Labels plus some die cuts from the September Kit. I loved using all of the colors in this spread, and the September kit and the extras made it easy for my spread to come together with everything so perfectly coordinated!

I hope this spread inspires you to try lots of color and to use up your September 2019 Kit, just in time for your October kit to arrive! Have a great week!

Foodie Traveler’s Notebook Spread with Candace Perkins

Memory-keeping can be different for everyone, and sometimes it’s good to switch things up and try a different-to-you format to see what sparks you creatively! Today, Candace Perkins is challenging you to try getting your memories recorded in one of her favorite formats—a traveler’s notebook, and she’s created a beautiful spread using our September Kit and extras! Let’s take a look!

Hello Elle’s Studio friends! It’s Candace here, excited to share a simple and fun travelers notebook spread. I love creating all types of projects in all types of sizes, but one of my favorites is definitely notebook spreads. I love that I can capture lots of “little” everyday stories within one notebook and it is easy to cary with me, to tuck in memorabilia or photos from people, places and events. It truly is one of the most versatile ways to document everyday memories and stories! For my project today I chose to capture a night out with my sweet hubby. Here is a look at the final spread.

Supplies | September 2019 Kit, Autumn Tiny Everyday Label Stickers, Good Times Stamp

I started with the fun Good Times Stamp. This is my new favorite stamp! I love the designs and numbers that allow you to create lots of fun patterns and layouts. I used the large circle stamp to create a design on the edge of a small piece of acetate. I added a small heart from the same stamp set to the inside of the circle using Staz On ink to make sure that the ink would not smear.  Using a tiny attacher I stapled down the acetate pocket and tucked a few journaling cards from the September 2019 Kit inside.

To create balance on the spread, I used the same Good Times Stamp to create a design on the left side of the spread.  I printed out 2″ x 2″ photos from our adventure and balanced them across the spread.

As a final touch, I punched out small die cut pieces from the September 2019 Kit and used them, along with Autumn Tiny Everyday Label Stickers to embellish the corners of my photos.

To mark the page I added a tab with the sentiment “this was a perfect day.”  I love that I have this day documented and recorded along with lots of other stories in my travelers notebook. So fun! What moments and memories will you be inspired to capture in your travelers notebook this month? They can all come together so easily using the Elle’s Studio September Kit and add-ons!

Have a great day!

Special Baby Moments Documented with Nathalie Leonelli

Some projects take a while to create, and Nathalie Leonelli is working on one 21 years in the making! She’s using our monthly kit and extras to create a baby book for her now grown son, and we think you’ll love the way that she used the September Kit and extras to create the new spread she’s sharing with us today. Let’s take a look!

If you follow me, you already know that I am creating a baby album/traveler’s notebook for my now 21 year old son (better late than never, right?) so today I would like to share the new layout I created with the awesome Home Sweet Home 6 x 6 Paper Stack and other supplies from the September release.

Supplies | September 2019 Kit, Die Cut Labels — Jewel Tones, Puffy Autumn Heart Stickers, Happy Moments Puffy Stickers, Home Sweet Home 6 x 6 Paper Stack, Good Times Stamp

I love the patterns and warm colors of the Home Sweet Home 6 x 6 Paper Stack and I layered three different sheets opposite my full page photo. They work beautifully with my black & white photos!

The journaling is written on several labels that I placed on the edge of the page to create a vertical line. I even found a great phrase in the Good Times Stamp to place on the last label (Small trick: I just inked half the stamp in question to fit it in!) I also used another stamp from the same set right on the photo under my title:

Finally, the “piece de resistance” is the grouping of puffy hearts running up and down the  center of the page:

I selected five colors from the pack of Puffy Autumn Heart Stickers and arranged them in the same order as they are on one of the tags from the kit (which I then cut and added in my layers.) It immediately makes the spread joyful and fun, don’t you think?

With its 24 sheets, never hesitate to grab an Elle’s Studio Paper Stack as they are always colorful and versatile. I love them and the new Home Sweet Home one is no exception! If you’re like me, you will be using it for pages, pockets, cards and much more!

The Good Life in Pockets with Sarah Zayas

We have loved having guest designer Sarah Zayas inspire us this month using our September kit and add-ons! If you missed her first two posts, she started off by documenting life right now with a pocket page, then showed us how to use our supplies to create a fun, stamped traveler’s notebook spread. Today, she’s back with a gorgeous pocket page spread that takes its color inspiration directly from her home! Let’s take a look:

Hello, friends!  Today I’ll be sharing my final project using the September kit and add-ons.  I’ve had such a great time guest designing for Elle’s Studio this month and I just want to take a moment to say thank you if you’ve followed along with these projects the last few weeks.

Supplies | September 2019 Kit, September LabelsDie Cut Labels — Jewel Tones, Autumn Tiny Everyday Label Stickers, Happy Moments Puffy StickersPuffy Autumn Heart Stickers, Home Wood Veneers, Title Builder Vol. 3 Stamp, Large Jane Alphabet Stamp — Solid, Everyday Phrases Vol. 2 Stamp

Today I’m sharing another 6″ x 8″ pocket page spread that introduces the month of September in my album. When choosing the colors for my tags and embellishments I first turned to the most colorful photo featured in my layout, which was the 3″ x 4″ photo of a little corner in my studio. There was green from the plant, and some yellow, pink, and camel colors from the traveler’s notebook covers sitting on the shelf. I used these hues to inspire my spread color scheme, and the September 2019 Kit was perfect for building that!

For my title card, I added a black jewel-toned Die Cut Label to the 4″ x 6″ green tag from the September 2019 Kit and stamped out “Sept” with what is currently my favorite—the Large Jane Alphabet Stamp! From there I began layering embellishments here and there, like the Home Wood Veneers—perfect for this spread all about being at home!

I love creating custom headers on my journaling tags, and I used the Title Builder Vol. 3 Stamp here to add “the good life” to this tag found in the September 2019 Kit. At the base, I stamped a phrase from the Everyday Phrases Vol. 2 Stamp onto a September Label to add an additional pop of yellow to my page.

I kept my pockets simple, but I love all of the little details that embellish this spread. I really hope you found some inspiration in the projects I shared this month. I’ve had such a great time creating them!

Hi, everyone!  My name is Sarah and I live in sunny Southern California with my husband, daughter, and our dog, Nugget. In my free time you’ll either find me hanging out with my family, reading (I’m a bit of a bookworm!), traveling, spending too much time on Instagram, or of course playing with pretty papers in my studio. I’ve been fortunate enough to work on several amazing creative teams in the last few years and I’m currently part of the Studio Calico creative team.

Be sure to follow Sarah on Instagram, her YouTube feed, or on her blog to see what she is creating in the future. We have loved having you, Sarah! Thank you for sharing your beautiful projects with us!
