“Inspired By” with Nathalie Leonelli

Inspiration is everywhere, and especially in the projects that our design team creates! In this monthly blog post, we challenge a design team member to be inspired to create based off of a project created by a fellow teammate, with stunning results! Today we have Nathalie Leonelli sharing a traveler’s notebook page that she created based on a project by Jess Forster. Let’s take a look at the result:
 
I love the “Happy Heart” pocket page spread that Jess Forster created with the March 2018 Kit and I thought it would be fun to transform it into a traveler’s notebook spread. First let’s have a look at what Jess created:
 

 
I kept the same design but adapted it to a traveler’s notebook size, while keeping my favorite aspects of her project:

I used a full size photo on the left side which I edited to black and white. I also wanted to make my spread monochromatic like hers, but went with yellow instead of teal.
 

 
I liked how Jess added her title and embellishments directly on the photo so I did the same using the Currently Stamp, Yellow Puffy Alphabet Stickers and Everyday Goodness yellow sticker strip.
 
On the right page, I cut down several tags from the April Kit and also pulled a yellow patterned paper from the brand new Noteworthy 6″ x 6″ Paper Stack. I fed it into my typewriter to add my journaling first, then stamped “for the record” with the Happy Moments Stamp and added a geotag puffy sticker from the fun Adventure Puffy Stickers.
 

 
I played with several stamp sets—Mini Dated, Currently and Happy Moments— to add details here and there and, after hesitation, decided to ink a Wood Veneer Camera in black to add more contrast. A Banner Sticker and Twinkle Puffy Sticker finished off the right side.
 

 
Thank you, Jess, for inspiring me! This was such a fun exercise. I‘d like to encourage you to think outside the box and maybe look at pocket pages as inspiration for traveler’s notebook spreads or layouts.
 
By the way, if you ever want to visit the medieval city of Sarlat in the Southwest of France, don’t go on market day!
