Sending Stars with Patricia Roebuck

Happy New Year, Elle’s Studio friends! When you want to sit down and just create, there is nothing more satisfying than creating cards. You get the creative benefit and then you get to share it with others! This is Patricia with you today to show you how I created two New Year’s cards using the December Kit, My Star Stamp and Metal Die, and the new Layered Card Metal Die, with a few extras!

When I think of the New Year, I immediately think of stars, and Elle’s Studio provides so many ways to get them on your projects. On my first card, I started with a starry December Kit 4″ x 6″ tag as my base. I used the Layered Card Metal Die to trim it and pierce it over the Jewel Polka Dot Paper Stack panel and navy blue cardstock panel. The tag’s design with white space on the right allowed me to use the solid and outline Medium Jane Alphabet Stamps to add “2021.” I focused on the red star on the tag by creating a shaker using the My Star Metal Die, then adding smaller stars with the same Jewel Polka Dot Paper. To add my sentiment, I layered the “Happy New Year!” Comfort and Joy Sticker on white cardstock, trimmed, and adhered.  The Stitched Stars Wood Veneer finished off the card with a different texture.

On my next card, I wanted to combine the star images from the Happiness & Cheer Stamp and My Star Stamp to create the look of fireworks. I used three shades of blue and continued stamping onto plain white cardstock until I got the effect I wanted. I backed this panel with the red star pattern from the Fa La La Paper Stack.

Next, I used the three small stars from the My Star Metal Die to die cut from my white cardstock panel, filling three of the stars with the white stars from the Autumn Tiny Shapes and Dots Puffy Stickers. For a focal point, I added the largest Stitched Stars Wood Veneer, trimmed a 4″ x 6″ tag from the December Kit to use ‘pause and reflect 2020’ as part of my sentiment, and finished that sentiment with the “Hello 2021” label from the Comfort and Joy Stickers. To complete the card, I added Nuvo Dream Drops to the star veneer and three navy stars from the Autumn Tiny Shapes and Dots Puffy Stickers to the card panel.

It is so fun to create and send New Year cards, especially with so many starry products from Elle’s Studio! Grab your star stamps, metal dies, wood veneers, and tags and create cards to give out or even smaller cards for your next pocket page. Have fun!
