Sketch Day with Suzanna Lee

Hiya scrappy peeps! It’s Suzanna here today with a new year, new decade and a new sketch inspired layout! I hope 2020 has begun on the right foot and you are finding time to play and create!

Here is the sketch:

And here is the layout that I created based on that sketch;

Supplies | January 2020 Kit, You Are Loved Die Cuts, La La Love You Puffy Stickers, Valentine Multi Color Puffy Alphabet Stickers, Little Moments Leatherette Stickers, Love Is 6 x 8.5 Paper Stack, Love You Lots Stamp

The grid in the sketch a PERFECT way to use the 3″ x 4″ tags in this month’s kit with a few 3″ x 4″ photos interspersed to break up the rigid look inherent in a grid. As you can see when you compare the sketch to my layout, I didn’t deviate far from the sketch. Really, the only differences are my title placement and the tag moved down to the lower corner of the grid.

One of the many freedoms you have with the sketch is the balance of photos to 3″ x 4″ tags that you, the creator, choose to use. I opted for 3 photos and 3 tags. These photos are fairly dark and the balance of photos to the white background cardstock and the white in the 3″ x 4″ tags from the January Kit created a nice balance. I also happened to have 3 photos that I wanted to use to tell my story.

Have you seen the new paper stack size? The 6 x 8.5 inch papers are perfect for travelers notebook memory keeping, having MORE paper if you’re a 12 x 12 scrapper and don’t want to use both pieces in the pack on one project, and generally, much more versatile. I easily pieced together these papers to create the right hand border behind the photos using the gorgeous new Love Is Paper Stack.

You can see from this layout that while the January Kit has a very love-y feel to it, you can do so much more with it. Did you happen to see the Valentine Multi Color Puffy Alphabet Stickers I used in the title, along with a great script word from the La La Love You Puffy Stickers? Nothing Valentine’s about this layout, just a fun use of color!

Between the sketch and the already coordinated Elle’s Studio goodies, this layout came together lickety split! What probably took the longest (but not really long at all!) was lining up the letters in “rootbeer.” If you know me, you know there is no layout I create that doesn’t involve a title shuffle! LOL!

Take a look at how it all came together in my process video:
