Pocket Pages + Prompts with Nathalie Leonelli

Our design team member Nathalie Leonelli is a pro at getting creative in her pockets, and today, she’s sharing fresh inspiration with us using the March 2018 Kit and add-ons, PLUS some fun ideas and prompts for switching things up in your pockets! Have a look, and take her challenge below!

Every month I am in love with the colors in the exclusive kits and the March 2018 Kit is no exception! For this new pocket page spread in my 2018 album (which I started late!), I decided to go with a soft palette of grey, lavender and light blue, allowing my photos to capture the eye first.

Now let’s look at some of the details. Hopefully this will give you ideas for your pocket pages! Also, don’t miss the bullet points/prompts at the end of the post!

For the date, I used a tag from the 2018 Calendars. I love how you can customize them to match anything. I water-colored in lavender the dates that the spread covers (you can use a highlighter or simply circle them). Stamping with the Happy Moments Stamp and Puffy Star Stickers add some contrast:

One of my favorite things on this spread is the “pocket-in-the-pocket” I created with one of the 4″ x 6″ tags from the March Kit:

I created it out of necessity because I had copies of texts and a personal story I wanted to include. I folded the tag in half, cut the front at an angle and glued the bottom and side with a thin tape. I had to trim a little off the tag I used inside for the journaling so that it would fit, but I found that it works perfectly on the top part of the page. I enjoyed decorating the front using the “this is a story about” phrase from the Happy Moments Stamp and White Puffy Alphabet Stickers.

The last thing I wanted to share is a journaling trick:

I often end up with random things I want to mention on my spreads and so here I had the idea to create a “Best” list, adapting the categories to my journaling of course! I think it makes it a more interesting and fun read!

Here are some ideas or suggestions that you can try on your next pocket page:

  • create a pocket with a 4″ x 6″ tag either to hide journaling or to add ephemera, or extra photos!
  • use a stamp to start a sentence or a title. The “this is a story about” from the Happy Moments Stamp is awesome for that!
  • Start a journaling list with “Best…” adapting it to what you wish to write
