We have loved having the amazingly talented guest designer, Missy Whidden, with us for the month of November. Her use of color and mixed-media mediums on her layouts always blow us away! We think that she has saved the best project for last, sharing a brand new layout with us today. Let’s take a look!
Hey, friends! It’s Missy here again, and I have another layout to share today as the November guest designer. I used bits and pieces from the November Kit, as well as the Family Fun Collection. I love this collection because it has a rainbow variety of colors! I decided to use them all here and create a watercolor background to match. I cut triangle strips on my Silhouette Cameo first from the colorful stripes in the #6 paper from the Family Fun 12″ x 12″ Paper Collection and arranged them on white cardstock. I used watercolors and some plastic packaging to create those fun and messy splotches on the background. Once I arranged all the strips, I stitched through them using my sewing machine and coordinating thread colors. I chose to scrap a silly photo of me, my mom and my sister, and the embellishments were perfect for it.
Supplies | November 2017 Kit, Everyday Banner Stickers, Puffy Heart Stickers, Family Fun Word Labels, Family Fun Bits and Pieces, Family Fun Puffy Stickers, Family Fun 12″ x 12″ Paper Collection, Stanley Alphabet Stamp – Outline
One of my favorite things about Elle’s Studio patterned papers is there are always bright and bold solids mixed with fun prints. These colors are so rich, and were just begging to be designed in rainbow fashion. Here you can see all the texture from the stitching and thread.
I just adore the Stanley Alphabet Stamp, so I used it to stamp part of my title below the photo. I used a lot of die cuts here from the Family Fun Bits and Pieces, as well as the November Kit. I tried to create a rainbow effect with these die cuts as well. How cute are those little Puffy Heart Stickers?
At the top of the layout, I added the word “fun” from the Family Fun Puffy Stickers and a circle “fun stuff” die cut, included in the November Kit. I love that so many of the embellishments in the kit and Family Fun Collection are for everyday photos and not event specific. Everything is so versatile, and I love that!
Here’s one last close-up showing the dimension on the layout. Puffy stickers automatically give you some nice depth. I raised my photo up with some adhesive foam, so even more dimension is created by layering pieces in and around it.
I hope this inspires you in some way. It was so much fun to make, and I had a wonderful time here this month! Thank you for having me!
Hey, friends! I’m Missy Whidden from sunny Florida, USA. I’ve been married to my college sweetheart for almost 18 years, and we have two beautiful daughters. Reese is 11 and Paige is 8.5. They are both autistic and nonverbal which means life in our house is never dull or boring. They are both precious and we just love them to pieces. I began scrapbooking over ten years ago when my mother-in-law asked me to help her put a baby book together of my husband’s photos. I was instantly intrigued by the deco scissors, paper and stickers. I began scrapping our travel photos and just fell in love with the creative process. I’ve been scrapping photos of our kids and family ever since, and I just love it. I love using mixed media on my layouts, especially watercolors, ink sprays and paints. I also love using my Silhouette Cameo and sewing machine on my pages. I’m honored to be on several design teams, and it has been the greatest experience. When I’m not at my craft desk, you can find me at the gym teaching fitness classes or blowing off stress in the weight room. I also love reading, watching Netflix and eating delicious food. I’m so happy to the Guest Designer here this month. Thank you so much for having me!
We have loved seeing Missy work her magic with Elle’s Studio product. If you’ve been inspired by Missy, please be sure to see more of her creations at her blog, gallery, Instagram and YouTube feeds! Thank you so much for creating your beautiful layouts, Missy!
