An Awesome Family Fun Layout with Melissa Mann

We are so excited that our Family Fun collection has been released to our shop—not only because we think that you will love documenting your memories with it, but because our design team has been busy creating with it, and we can’t wait to share their projects with you! To kick off many blog posts featuring these versatile products, we have Melissa Mann with an awesome layout!

Hey everyone! I’m excited to be back on the blog with my very first project made with the new Family Fun collection and the September 2017 Kit.

I always struggle with using the 6″ x 6″ paper that accompany many paper collections and wanted to figure out a way to use them. Usually, the designs are on a smaller scale than the normal 12″ x 12″ patterned paper. I wanted lots of patterns on my layout, but didn’t want it to be overwhelming with the larger scale patterns on the 12″ x 12″ sheets.

I cut out the “awesome” word from the September 2016 Digital Cut File on my Silhouette Cameo; this word is actually all joined together when it cuts out. I cut apart each letter and traced it onto my pattern paper from the Family Fun 6″ x 6″ Paper Stack and cut them out. They weren’t perfect, but I was okay with that as this added to the overall feel of the layout.

I printed out a photo of my husband in black and white and used a larger circle than the “O” in the cut file. I wanted that to be slightly bigger than the other letters. I popped this up using foam dots to adhere to the cardstock. Each letter was stiched down using my sewing machine. I love that added texture!

Lastly, I placed die cuts from the September Kit, Thankful Sticker Labels and Family Fun Acrylic Shapes around my layout. I also stamped the phrase “love this” all over the layout using the Date Night Stamp with black ink.

Thanks for taking a peek!
