Documenting a Relationship with Dad with Candace Perkins

Candace Perkins is a pro at telling her family’s stories, and today she’s sharing how a single product from our April reveal inspired her to document the most important people in her life, and their relationship to eachother. Let’s see what she made.

Hello again friends! It’s Candace here to share a layout using a combination of products from the April 2017 Kit and the newly released Live Laugh Love collection. For today’s spread I started with the Dad Acrylic and Wood Set, and this is what drove my story. I considered what stories I might want to tell about my husband and his role as a dad.

Supplies | April 2017 Kit, Dad Acrylic and Wood Set, Puffy Heart Stickers, April Labels, Wood Confetti, Black Puffy Alphabet Stickers, Everyday Labels Puffy Stickers- BlackLive Laugh Love 12″ x 12″ Paper Collection, Live Laugh Love Stamp

The base of my layout is white 8-1/2″ x 11″ cardstock. I added my journaling to the left side of the spread and paired it with a full size picture of my husband and all of our little guys. I wanted to add a few pops of color to contrast the black and white photo, and I first added the light green 12″ x 12″ paper from the Live Laugh Love 12″ x 12″ Paper Collection to separate the photo from my journaling.

For my mixed title work I combined the Dad Acrylic and Wood Set with the Black Puffy Alphabet Stickers. I like the contrast of block alpha & script. To add a little more color to the layout, I added a row of yellow dots using the Live Laugh Love Stamp to the top and bottom of my journaling.

For my final embellishments, I added a yellow April Label to the bottom of the spread to act as a home for my journaling date and the “thankful for this” puffy sentiment from the Everyday Labels Puffy Stickers. I also placed a few of the wood veneer hearts and puffy hearts at the top and bottom to balance color across my spread.

This was such a fun and meaningful spread to put together! These are the stories that are important to capture!

On your next spread give these tips a try:

  • Combine different types of letters in your title
  • Use products from your stash to spark a meaningful story
  • Pair a few different colors with a black and white photo to make it pop!
  • Thanks so much for stopping by today! Have a beautiful day & go tell some stories!
