We are back with another month of “One Product, Three Ways” in which three of our designers use one of our products to create three different projects. We always love to see how differently our talented team uses our chosen product, and we couldn’t be more excited to share these projects with you, each using the Grow and Bloom Wood Veneer.
First, we have Jill Sprott sharing some amazing card designs.
Supplies | March 2017 Kit, File Under Stamp, Grow and Bloom Wood Veneer, Spring and Flowers Acrylic
In my attempts to create several cards with a springtime vibe, I started by reaching for my watercolors and a sheet of white cardstock, and played for a little while. I’ve found that the best effects are created by first dabbing water on the page, and then adding color. It also helps to go “oooh” and “aaah” as the colors mix. It really does. I also experimented with using watercolors instead of stamping ink on the stamps from the “File Under” set. When the paper was dry, I cut sections from it, reserving one of the larger flowers to create the “Bloom” card, and cutting 1” squares from the rest.
I pieced the squares together again in a grid format, adding some painted ones cut from the journaling cards in the March kit. After trimming around the grids, I stitched over each one, and then added the wood veneer sentiments, which I had also painted over. The result: three springy cards that I plan to share with friends and family.
Next, Tessa Buys used the wood veneer to add the perfect ombre title to her layout.
Supplies | March 2017 Kit, Grow and Bloom Wood Veneer, File Under Stamp, Letter and Number Stickers- Light Pink, Sequins- Blue Green Mix
The wood veneer words matched my daughter’s Easter basket perfectly as is, but I decided to add some color to make them a little more special. I used watercolor markers to create a yellow-to-pink ombre effect.
Adding water to the veneer made them curl up a little bit, but I pressed them flat to dry under a heavy book with no problems. “Blessing” was a little too long for where I wanted to put it on my page, so I cut it apart with scissors. Combined with alpha stickers, I think these wood veneers make great page titles!
Last, but not least, we have Michelle Wedertz sharing a springtime pocket page layout and these words couldn’t have been more perfect next to her photos.
Each month when my box of new supplies arrives from Elle’s Studio, I can hardly contain the excitement that I get as I sift through the exclusive kit and coordinating embellishments. And, as is also part of my routine, I try to pick out my favorites. I am not always successful at this endeavor because it is usually all so good, but this month the Grow and Bloom Wood Veneerreally stood out to me. I always look forward to see what Elle comes up with for the wood veneer and this time the larger springtime words really hit the spot and I decided to feature a few of them in this pocket page layout.

To adhere embellishments I will usually grab my favorite liquid glue, however with wood veneers I like to use a running tape or a mini-staple. I am not the neatest gluer and these two options help me with this.
We can’t wait to see how you use your Grow and Bloom Wood Veneer words! Be sure to share your project, featuring this awesome add-on, on Instagram with the hashtag #EllesStudio for a chance to be featured here on our blog and win $10 to the Elle’s Studio shop!
