Happy New Year, everyone! One of our traditions is to kick off the start of the new year by introducing our new design team! But, before we do, we want to send big hugs and give a huge THANK YOU to our 2019 team! Those ladies were amazing and inspired us all year long! We can’t thank them enough for all of the amazing projects they created! We love you!

Wrapping Up 2019 with Melissa Mann

The end of the year is a great time to create a “best of” list to remember the special moments from the year behind us, and our new The Best This Year Wood Veneers are the perfect embellishment to make your yearly highlight project special! Check out how design team member Melissa Mann has used them on a special mini album.

Hello and welcome to the blog on the final day of 2019! I’m really excited to show you guys what I made using the new The Best This Year Wood Veneers! I decided to create a mini book that highlighted some of my favorite photos to corresponded with the wood veneer circles.

Once I had my photos ready to go and cut down, I used a piece of patterned paper from the Magical Memories, Sunshine, and Home Sweet Home Paper Stacks to cover the alternating side across from the photo. After I adhered down the patterned paper and the photo grids, I used 3″ x 4″ journaling cards, vellum, labels, and stickers to further embellish and add journaling.

To create my mini book, I used chipboard to construct the square base pages. I knew I wanted to use a grid of photos for each spread; I created a 4″ x 4″ square in Photoshop and found 4 photos that I sized down to 2″ x 2″. I printed each of these photo grids out and used photos that corresponded with each wood veneer circle.

One of my favorite techniques I used in my mini book was a flip up journaling card that I adhered another photo onto the back! These were super easy to make: Once I typed my journaling on the front of the 3″ x 4″ tag, I adhered the photo to the back side of the tag, making sure to place it upside down so that when the card was flipped up, it was facing right side up. This added a fun interactive element to my album!

To really get the fun wood veneer pieces to stand out, I used acetate embellishments from the Magical Memories Acetate Die Cuts to back the The Best This Year Wood Veneers with and glued them down right in the center of my photo grid!

2020 Preparations with Sabrina Poole

Even though 2019 isn’t over yet, it’s not too early to start preparing your 2020 album for how you plan to document the memories you make, the ones you love, or yourself, the way that Sabrina Poole is sharing with us today! Let’s take a look at how she is setting up her 2020 pocket page album.

Hi everyone, this is Sabrina! I have one last project to share with you: the foundations for some of my 2020 pocket pages. Every year I document my family and I’ve been doing that for over 10 years now. I’ve done various formats documenting my family’s every day life. In 2017, I started documenting myself, which has been awesome!

For 2020 I am undecided on what format I am going to document my family, so I decided to create monthly 6″ x 8″ opening pages for my “me” album. I took Months of the Year, Stanley Junior and Wonderful Life stamp sets to create a few monthly pages. I also used lots of diffeent pieces from my Elle’s Studio stash to make a filler tags. These two monthly pages I created show you how I am approaching documenting myself in 2020.

On January’s page, I used the Months of the Year Stamp to fussy cut “January’ and also the stickers. I used the Labels Stamp to create two labels. I included a fun “top 5” for January, which I can either include my goals for the month or my favorites from the month. I also stamped out “goal’ five times to include in the front of my album. To create a title tag, I used the “best” word from the Title Builder Vol. 3 Acrylic, which created a bold addition to the page!

On February’s page, I followed the same format: a filler tag, journaling tag and a monthly tag. I used a 1 inch strip from the ‘Tis the Season 6 x 6 Paper Stack at the bottom of the 4″ x 6″ monthly tag, then added in little bits and pieces of embellishment; a stamped scallop circle from the Wonderful Life Stamp, the “currently” Everyday Puffy Label Sticker, stamped hearts and the month, which I stamped and fussy-cut again. These are simple pages that make a great opening pages for documenting yourself!

I hope my projects inspire you to create monthly pocket pages and maybe even document yourself!

Traveler’s Notebook Wrap-Up with Candace Perkins

The end of the year is a great time to reflect on important moments and growth in ourselves and the ones that we love, and a great way to showcase that is with a yearly wrap-up project! Candace Perkins has done this in her traveler’s notebook, and is sharing the colorful result with us today. We think you’ll love it!

Hello, Elle’s Studio friends! It’s Candace with you today for my last post for the year!  We are getting close to the end of 2019 and I am loving looking back on all the memories I have captured in my travelers notebook this year! I love that I can carry my notebook in my purse and jot down quick memories to document later with my printed photos.

For my spread today I was inspired by all the colors in the December 2019 Kit and the The Best This Year Wood Veneers. I really wanted to use a bunch of different colors to help balance out the black and white photos. Here is a look at the final spread:

I pulled a travelers notebook from my stash and found an empty page to start creating a new spread. Using a colorful tag from the December 2019 Kit, I cut each of the colors to create a border on my 2″ x 2″ photos. 

Using a few die cuts from the December Kit, I added coordinating accents to the edges of a few of the photos. I like the look of lots of color spread across the two pages!  

Using white puffy alphas, I added the boys initials to the edges of the colored strips that surrounded the photos.  I like to work in clusters of three for balance and interest. As you can see with the addition of of the die cuts, patterned paper strips, and puffy alphas, the small collection of elements around each photo is balanced and full of color! 

To mix up the spread, I added the title and focus of the spread to the lower right hand corner.  “US 2019” was the perfect title for the photos, stories and memories of this spread. 


I hope you enjoyed this little travelers notebook spread and it inspired you to cut up the tags in your kits and get creative with the stories and colors.  Have fun, play and get those memories and photos down on paper to enjoy for years to come!

Frozen Fun with Wendy Antenucci

How are you keeping up with your Document December album? Today design team member Wendy Antenucci is with us to share the latest spread in her album, which records a fun day with an appropriately chilly theme! Let’s take a look!

Hello everyone, it’s Wendy here with my last post for Elle’s Studio! I am so thankful for the past two years that I have had the great privilege of creating with the amazing Elle’s Studio products. I will definitely keep up my pocket scrapping with all of my extras!  

Today I am sharing another page from my December album. I wasn’t sure if I would be able to keep up this year with our new schedule, but the December 2019 Kit has made it so easy to document our December story in just the few spare minutes I have each day.

Our family went to see Frozen 2 this month, which was a big event for us since we don’t often go to the movie theater. To document such a momentous event, I decided to take advantage of the The Best This Year Wood Veneers to add to the theme of the page about the best (and only) movie we saw together! The Winter Wood Veneers added to the Frozen theme and tied the two halves of my spread together.  

I love when we have white phrase stickers in the monthly add-ons—they make journaling such a breeze and often have better phrases than I would ever dream up! Checking this off the wish list for our December activities!

Puffy stickers are another one of my favorites and this month did not disappoint with the Everyday Puffy Label Stickers.  These puffy stickers work really well layered on the phrase stickers, too!

The Wonderful Life Stamp has such perfect phrases! To make these stamps even more valuable, they fit inside of the December Label Stickers! Bonus!
