Meet Our Design Team Week – Say Hello to Loredana Bucaria!

I’m Lory and I come from Italy! I knew scrapbooking in 2003 thanks a friend and a little journey in a Funfair Park where I was attracted by a scrapbooking book full of colors and of die cuts! Since then I made a long Internet research about this hobby and I was really lucky to discover a new wonderful world!

Since then my life is changed! Scrapbooking is become my lifestyle, it helped me in bad moments, like my dad’s death, I met new good friends around the world by Internet, all thanks to scrapbooking.

I love scrapbooking because it makes me happy, free, with the scrapbooking I forget all the ordinary worries, all the bad thoughts and only the page, the photos, the story about the photo exist! I loves to be sitting down on my chair, close to door of my scraproom and be in my scrapbook space with music in background to scrapbook her pages full of colors, of several and sometimes unusually materials. All for fun and for relaxing!

I have a big dream: to can teach around the world, it should change my life, I’d do what I really want to do! In Italy I have an online website and I have organized an international convention of scrapbooking and mixed media for three years (2008-2010) knowing the most famous scrapbookers and enjoying so much everything! It was a dream came true! I am solar, joyful, full of things to do but I love my everyday life even if something is not like I would. I got married last July with the love of my life and now I have a new cute home that I improve day by day. I love my life even if I am not a Hollywood star! LOL

You can also visit Lory’s blog, scrapbook website and the international convention’s site!
What is your favorite color combo? I love all colors but my favorite color combo is turquoise-yellow-pink/fuchsia or red.

What are your go-to and must have scrapbooking products? I must have letters stickers or rub on or chipboards, words stickers and journaling tags because I’m a real journaling addict!
Why did you start scrapbooking and how did you get started? I started scrapbooking in the 2003 during a trip in a Funfair park. One of my best friends had a family member that loved the USA and that introduced her the scrapbooking, my friend introduced me scrapbooking and in that park I bought my first scrapbooking book, I remember yet, this book had the paperkins inside to cut!! So much time ago!!! Since then I became a scrapholic!!!!

Who or what inspires you? I am inspired from a lot of scrapbookers around the world, I love many different styles but I know that I adore colorful styles.I love Ali Edwards, Kelly Purkey, Kim archer, Emily Falconbridge, Jamie Waters, Celine Navarro, Heidi Swapp, and so many others (some of them are my friends and I am so thankful for this, wonderful scrapbookers and very special persons) I am inspired also from interior design magazines, I love them!! I find many ideas in this kind of books!
What is your favorite thing about scrapbooking? Create, to be free, to can be what i really am!

Where do you scrapbook? I’m very lucky because I have a little scraproom in my new home… I would not have bought this new house if it had not had this room:) LOL

What is your favorite thing to listen to or watch while creating? I love to listen jazz, Armstrong, Frank Sinatra, Nora Jones, Micheal Buble🙂

Meet Our Design Team Week – Say Hello to Jennifer Chapin!

Hi! My name is Jennifer Chapin. I am 27 years old, born and raised in Iowa. My husband Adam and I have a 20 month old daughter, Keira, who is the light of our life and makes for a lot of fun times. Never a dull moment in our house! I have been scrapbooking since 2006. I try not to think about it 24/7, but it rarely works. 🙂 I work outside the home as an RN, but after Keira goes to bed and on weekends, you’ll find me in my scraproom. I also love to cook and bake, and have a pretty large recipe and cookbook collection.

You can also check out Jennifer’s blog and etsy shop!
What are your go-to and must have scrapbooking products? I would have to say that my number one go-to tool is my sewing machine. I inherited a Viking from my grandma, and once I learned how to use it, I haven’t stopped! I also have a large collection of alphabet stickers as well as journaling tags and bits. That is why I love Elle’s products so much. I love finding new ways to incorporate tags, cutting, punching and altering them to fit my page.
Why did you start scrapbooking and how did you get started? I was actually first introduced to card making in 2006 when I wanted to make thank you notes for my bridal shower and wedding. Shortly after that, my sister and I took a trip to the local scrapbook store and I was hooked! I loved the idea of documenting life for our children and grandchildren to look back at someday.

What is your favorite color combo? I had to think about this one! I would have to say that pink is one of my go-to colors, especially when scrapping my daughter. I tend to use a lot of teal, yellow, and gray as well. I usually use white or brown cardstock for the base of my layout.

Where do you scrapbook? I am fortunate to have my own little room to scrap in, and though it’s a little small, it’s all mine! 🙂 We have a room off of our bedroom that I believe was originally a nursery. A couple years ago, my husband helped me paint and install desks and shelving for my supplies.

What is your favorite thing to listen to or watch while creating? Usually I will just listen to the radio. We have a local station that plays a good mix of 80s/90s/current music that I enjoy. I can’t watch TV as it distracts me from creating.

Elle’s Studio supplies used: XOXO Journaling Tag Stamp, Lovely Vintage Valentine Circle Tags, Lovely Vintage Valentine Journaling Tags, and Owl Love You Forever – Lovely Hearts Paper

Meet Our Design Team Week – Say Hello to Gail Linder!

My name is Gail Lindner and I live in sunny Queensland – Australia! I have a wonderful husband and an energetic almost-3-year-old daughter. I’ve been scrapbooking for over 10 years now and I can’t imagine my life without it! It’s the perfect hobby for me as it encompasses everything I love – memories, photos, memorabilia and (let’s face it) pretty things!

I like to keep my layouts fairly uncluttered and balanced, with the photos the main focus. My style includes lots of distressing, inking, layering and sewing. Apart from scrapbooking I enjoy blogging, organising and shopping (all related to scrapbooking of course!)

You can also visit Gail’s blog and etsy shop!
What is your favourite colour combo? Without a doubt, pink and aqua is the color combination that I use the most! It helps to have a daughter who wears a lot of pink!

What are your go to and must have scrapbooking products? I love my black, white and kraft cardstock. I also can’t scrapbook without ink to apply around everything and a distressing tool. I’m also an alphabet sticker addict and my favorite part of the process is adding my title!
Why did you start scrapbooking and how did you get started? I started scrapbooking in 1999 when I was on a trip to the USA, staying with a cousin and his American wife who was a scrapbooker. I picked up a copy of Creating Keepsakes magazine and asked “What’s this?” and the rest is history! My suitcase coming home was packed with supplies!

I immediately knew that scrapbooking was the perfect hobby for me as I’ve always been crafty, loved colour and loved photos. Know what? Scrapbooking has honestly changed the direction of my life.
Where do you scrapbook? I’m lucky enough to have a dedicated scrapbook room. As we’re expecting our second baby this year, I’ve recently moved my room to a huge area at the back of our house with my scrapbooking down one end and my daughter’s toys down the other end. She much prefers to be ‘scrapbooking’ with me though!

What is your favourite thing to listen to or watch while creating? I’m totally a movie person. I’ll happily put on a DVD, preferably one I’ve seen HEAPS, and have it playing in the background as I scrapbook. I don’t put on a movie that I have to concentrate on! My favorite movies to watch while I scrap are: Mamma Mia, Love Actually, The Wedding Singer, Suddenly 30 and any Twilight movie.
What is your favorite thing about scrapbooking? I love the idea of conveying my thoughts and experiences in my scrapbooking for my daughter to read in the future. I treasure any ‘evidence’ of my grandparents such as handwriting, cards and especially stories and photos so I love that my children won’t have to search for such items.

Who or what inspires you? I’m inspired by my photos and the stories I want to tell. Scrapbookers such as Ali Edwards and Stephanie Howell inspire me with the feelings and love they convey through their scrapbooking. But I’m a total blog junkie and love discovering new blogs with cute projects.
Elle’s Studio supplies used: XOXO Journaling Tag Stamp, Lovely Vintage Valentine Circle Tags, Lovely Vintage Valentine Journaling Tags, Lovey Vintage Valentine Tiny Tags and Valentine Mix & Match Numbers. See even more photos of her scrap room, here.

Meet Our Design Team Week – Say Hello to Melissa Mann!

Hey everyone! My name is Melissa – I live in beautiful Pensacola, Florida – about 15 minutes away from the Gulf of Mexico. I will have been married to my wonderful hubby for 7 years this upcoming Valentine’s Day! We have two dogs & one cat – and I spoil them rotten 😉 I currently work at a condominium located right on the Gulf. Some hobbies that I enjoy are cooking, reading, photography, and of course, scrapbooking! I love my little corner of the spare bedroom that has been taken over by paper, stickers, & punches.

I want to give a big “Thank-you” to Elle for inviting me to be on her team for the next few months!! I’m sure it will be a wonderful experience & can’t wait to share my projects with you!

You can visit Melissa’s blog and flickr, too!
What is your favorite color combo? My favorite combo, at this moment, would be yellow, turquoise, & pink.

What are your go-to and must have scrapbooking products? My must have products are a good paper trimmer, my Martha Stewart starburst punch, patterned paper, kraft paper, & my typewriter 🙂
What is your favorite thing about scrapbooking? I love the fact that scrapbooking can be a therapeutic & creative outlet. I can forget about the stressful thing going on in life and just sit in my little corner and create to my heart’s content. I also love the fact, that someday, if we are blessed with children, they will have the memories of their parents & other family members documented.

What is your favorite thing to listen to or watch while creating? I typically listen to music when I scrapbook. I have a HUGE cd collection, including a lot of movie soundtracks – some of my favorites are “Dirty Dancing”, “Top Gun”, & “Grease”.
Elle’s Studio supplies used: Lovely Vintage Valentine Circle Tags, and Lovely Vintage Valentine Tiny Tags.

Meet Our Design Team Week – Say Hello to Mandie Pierce!

My name is Mandie Pierce. I am a stay at home mama of 3 and an Air Force wife. My husband and I have been together for almost 15 years. We’ve lived from Georgia to Texas to Alaska to Arakansas and now California. I love scrapbooking (obviously), reading, photography, organizing and decorating (don’t let that fool you, though. i *do* have 3 kids who don’t share my affinity for cleanliness and order.) I have a dorky sense of humor. I think I am funny, but I am sure I am just nerdy! I have a tendancy to have weird things happen to me – usually while Troy is tdy (temporary duty). Things like my son droppping my only car key down a storm drain or locking my kids & myself out of my house and having to have a friend’s husband come break into my house. I think my parents should have named me Calamity Jane rather than Mandie.

You can visit Mandie’s blog, here.
What is your favorite color combo? I love teal, orange and gray or teal, yellow and chocolate brown. With that being said, I don’t use it much – except in my house. 🙂

Why did you start scrapbooking and how did you get started? I’ve always been a collector of memorabilia. Somewhere, I have magnetic page albums from high school with ticket stubs, cards, photos, etc. I started “officially” scrapbooking in 1999 when my daughter was about 6 months old when I discovered they made products just for scrapbooking. I tried to quit once, but it didn’t last long!

Where do you scrapbook? I have my own space. It is technically a formal dining room. But since we don’t have formal furniture, it’s what I use. Downside: you can see it from our front door. It has to stay clean.

What is your favorite thing to listen to or watch while creating? I’ve got what I call my “mellow mix” on my ipod. It’s got Jason Mraz, Brandie Carlile, Jason Castro, John Mayer, Train & a whole heck of a lot more, but I won’t bore you with an entire list!

Meet Our Design Team Week – Say Hello to Lisa Dickinson!

Lisa Dickinson is a graphic designer, avid scrapbooker, and running enthusiast who lives in Colorado with her husband, Mike, and their children, Hayden and Riely. Her work has been featured in all of the leading scrapbooking magazines, including the former Simple Scrapbooks, where she was a member of the 2008/2009 design team. In her free time, Lisa enjoys reading, skiing, running, and shopping at Target.

You can visit her blog or twitter page.
What is your favorite color combo? I love to combine red & aqua (or various shades of the two!)

What are your go-to and must have scrapbooking products? Patterned paper, chipboard alpha, my xacto knife & ruler, and a good journaling pen.

Why did you start scrapbooking and how did you get started? I was first introduced to scrapbooking back in 1998 when I attended a Creative Memories party with a shoebox full of honeymoon photos needing to be scrapped. I was thrilled to rediscover the art of creating with stickers, papers, and glue that I had loved as a child.
Who or what inspires you? So many things, but two of my favorite places to find inspiration are children’s books and home decor magazines.

What is your favorite thing about scrapbooking? Definitely the amazing people I’ve met through this hobby!

Where do you scrapbook? At home in my office.

What is your favorite thing to listen to or watch while creating? I usually watch episodes of my favorite tv shows on hulu.com. Right now that’s Glee, Modern Family, and The Bachelor.

Meet Our Design Team Week – Say Hello to Mindy Miller!

I’m originally a small town Kansas girl and currently live in Topeka, KS. I graduated from Washburn University and subsequently attended Washburn School of Law, but I’m a Kansas Jayhawks fan through and through. I’m a corporate attorney by day and a scrapbooker by night. I love to read, travel and, of course, be crafty!

You can also visit Mindy’s blog, here.
What are your go-to and must have scrapbooking products? I loved kraft paper before kraft paper was cool. Now I’m addicted to my Tim Holtz tiny attacher and punches. And I might have a rather extensive collection of alphas, but who’s counting?

Why did you start scrapbooking and how did you get started? I saw a scrapbook booth at a craft fair while I was on a college break and my interest was sparked. I loved the combination of art, writing, and graphic design, as well as the element of memory keeping.
Who or what inspires you? When I’m feeling most creative, I randomly sketch layout ideas. I usually have photos or a general concept in mind when I’m sketching the design, but it doesn’t all come together until I sit down with my photos and literally surround myself with products. I draw on the colors in my photos for inspiration, gather up products that enhance those colors and go from there. I always gravitate toward clean lines with a focus on strong titles.

What is your favorite thing about scrapbooking? I’d be lying if I didn’t admit that I love to shop for scrapbooking products! But, in all honesty, my favorite part of this craft is opening up an album and reliving the special memories that I’ve captured.

Where do you scrapbook? After many years of scrapbooking on the living room floor, I’ve recently dedicated an area in my basement for crafts. It’s still a work in progress, but I’m excited about how it is coming together.

Meet Our Design Team Week – Say Hello to Rebecca Keppel!

In a former life I was a corporate attorney living in San Francisco. After my daughter was born, my husband and I decided to move our little family to Arizona. We are still adjusting to the extreme heat, but overall we love the family atmosphere here. In 2007 our little guy was born. They are now 5 and 1/2 and almost 4. I have been a stay at home mom for the last 5 and a half years. I started scrapbooking about the same time our daughter was born. What started as a way to create a baby album for my daughter turned into much more.

Although I have been “journaling” and taking tons of pictures my whole life, it wasn’t until I saw scrapbooking as whole that everything clicked for me and the obsession began! Besides recording memories and playing with fun product, I love to learn new techniques and learn more about photography. My favorite way to add texture and dimension to my projects is by sewing (either hand or machine) because I love the homemade, unique touch it adds. Besides making layouts, I love cardmaking and making gifts for family and friends.

Thanks to Elle for letting me be a part of this amazing team and giving me a chance to showcase Elle’s Studio’s fabulous designs.

You can also visit Rebecca’s blog, here.
What is your favorite color combo? I honestly don’t think I have a favorite color combo. I think one of the fun things about scrapbooking is playing with colors that you don’t interact with in your daily life. For example, I NEVER wear yellow, but I love scrapbooking with it because it is such a happy, hopeful color.

What are your go-to and must have scrapbooking products? Journaling cards–seriously, I like to hand write but I need a space to corral my handwriting so I use journaling cards on 90% of my layouts. I also use Thickers on EVERYTHING. And bakers twine and buttons.
Why did you start scrapbooking and how did you get started? Before we moved from San Francisco to the suburbs of Phoenix a friend told me that once you move out of the city you are required to scrapbook. She was kidding of course, but between moving to a place where we had neither family nor friends and becoming a stay at home mom after working 60+ hours a week I needed some type of outlet. I started with an album of my daughter’s first year and went from the big box craft stores to finding several local scrapbook stores and finally to discovering the online scrapbooking community.

Who or what inspires you? I use Google Reader to follow tons of blogs from photographers, home decorators, manufacturers and other scrapbookers.

What is your favorite thing about scrapbooking? Definitely the creative outlet and the mind body connection. I love the connection between photography, writing, design and creating with my hands. Something about all those things together just makes me happy 🙂

Where do you scrapbook? I’ve moved my space around our house several times. Right now we have made the 4th bedroom into an office/scrapbook space/kids crafting/kids homework area and I love it. It is a space we can all share and enjoy and spend time together without having the T.V. on!

What is your favorite thing to listen to or watch while creating? With two kids 6 and under silence is pretty rare so when I am alone I generally like to hear NOTHING. But with my new space having my computer nearby I have listened to a CD on occasion. Lately I’ve been rediscovering Deee Lite’s World Clique –so much fun and always puts me in a good mood.

Thank you for sharing with us today, Rebecca! It was so much fun to learn more about you, see your scrap space and beautiful canvas project!

New digital/hybrid mini-album available just in time for Valentine’s Day!

We are really excited to announce that we have just launched a new mini album project in our digital shop! We’ve designed this project to be very versatile. You can either print the pdf and photos separate OR work with the png/psd files we’ve included, putting the album together on the computer, then printing out your final product!

Here’s what it would look like if you decided to just print the pdf file as is:
Then, simply cut out all your elements, along with your photos:
And piece it together! Feel free to grab some extra embellishments from your stash! We designed this album with basic colors so a lot of your items from your stash should coordinate perfectly!

Here’s a little peek inside my album I put together for my nephew’s Valentine’s Day present! I tried to keep the journaling as simple as possible so that soon he’ll be able to understand what it says and, even though he’s a boy, I think Valentine’s Day is the PERFECT (and probably only) excuse to use pink 😉
So simple and fun! It took only a couple hours from start to finish to cut everything out and put it together.

This album, along with a ton of other fun things for Valentine’s Day, are now available at our digital shop!

A Sweet Valentine Tree!

My mom made this super sweet Valentine tree and I had to share it with you! She bought the pink tree at Michael’s (local craft store) “after Christmas” sale. It’s the perfect pink color and even lights up!

Then she found these little felt hearts at Michael’s – they have a sticky back.
She peeled the backing off two matching hearts, looped twine and laid in on one side, along with some extra glue.
Then, she laid the matching heart on top!
Perfect little ornaments for the tree! Here’s a closer look:
She also made a matching garland to hang on her window! Love how cute and little it is!
And, if all of this isn’t cute enough, the tree has a matching tree skirt that she made! Eeeek!!
How amazing is that?! So much fun! I don’t know what she’ll do when Valentine’s Day is over… maybe an Easter tree?!

Thanks for stopping by! Hope everyone has a fun and crafty weekend!
xo, Elle

p.s. Guess what?! This is our 600th post! Woohoooo!!
