Guest Designer Spotlight: Jill Sprott

We are so thrilled to have the talented Jill Sprott as our August Guest Designer!  I have been a long time admirer of her work– her attention to detail, photography, journaling and design are all so inspirational.  Jill is a Two Peas Garden Girl, and also designs for Jenni Bowlin Mercantile, and October Afternoon.  I know you will enjoy her work in our gallery and getting to know her as well!!  Thank you Jill for joining us this month!

What are three products you can’t live without?
I absolutely need mist, a gel pen that writes smoothly, and labels that take equally well to handwriting or a printer.

What do you listen to/watch while scrapbooking?
I love music that creates it’s own atmosphere, keeping me energized without distracting me.  My playlists usually include the likes of Angus & Julia Stone, The Shins, Coldplay, Death Cab for Cutie, The Weepies, M83, Shiny Toy Guns, The Strokes, and The Morning Benders, among others.

What is your favorite color combination?
I often find myself gravitating toward analogous blues and greens, with some sunshiny yellow or a pop of red thrown in the mix.

Do you record every moment or just the special ones?
There is no way that I could keep track of every moment but I certainly don’t just scrap the special events.  It’s important to me to capture monumental events, but it’s just as important to document the everyday.  I always keep my point-and-shoot camera in my purse, so that I’ll never miss a moment.

We are giving away Jill’s three favorite Elle’s Studio items!

Leave a comment here for a chance to win Lil Snippets: Tiny Note Labels, Summer Lovin’ Tidbits, and Summer Lovin’ Large Journaling Tags.  We will randomly draw a winner and post on Wednesday August 8.

Sketch Thursday 08.02

This week’s sketch is inspired by Diana‘s super fun ‘the fourth‘ layout from (the brand new) DT gallery.

Angela played along and created this fantastic layout:

Angela said: What inspired me was the angle of the picture and paper.  I usually make mine straight so I was up for the challenge.  Instead of one photo I used 2.

We are giving away a $5 Elle’s Studio Gift Certificate!  Post a link to your layouts inspired by the sketch on this post for your chance to win.  We will randomly select and announce the winner next Thursday.

Congratulations to last week’s winner… Deanna!

Project Life

This week’s Project Life covers the week of July 2- July 8.

This week was utterly chaotic for my family– it was the week we moved!   I can assure you, taking photos and thinking about Project Life was the last thing on my mind.   So when sitting down to complete this week, I got a little creative— and it was alot of fun.

First item to note is that every photo here was taken with my iPhone.  During our busy week, that was all I had around– so I used it!   I enlarged the iPhone photo of the moving truck at our old house to an 8×10 and placed it on the left side.  I added scraps from the wallpaper that was put up in our new home this week behind the photo.  I love the combo of our old house and a part of our new house on this page– it perfectly symbolizes this huge transition.

Since the left side was kept simple, I balanced it out by using many photos, tags, and embellishments on the right side.  Still having most of my scrapbook supplies in boxes, I used all Elle’s Studio tags!  The Lil Snippets Tiny Labels were perfect for the journaling spots on my photos!  I also enjoyed using a few of Elle’s new items in this Project Life spread– can you spot them???

Our Summer CHA Recap!

We are back from CHA and have some fun photos and details to share with you about our trip!

It started with me flying out to stay with Jenni and her family a couple days before the adventure began – it was so fun hanging out with her kids and they all made me feel right at home! Jenni and I made the 4 hour drive to Chicago on Sunday to start the booth set-up!

This was one of the first things I saw when we walked it – it was SO surreal to see that sign hanging up there!

We kept the booth design super simple since it was our first show and we really had no idea what to expect (we’ve already got some BIG plans for our next booth!). Once we arrived, we hung our boards that displayed all the new tags and layouts, and put out the catalogs and waited for the show to start!

Here’s a little peek at what was on the table:

And, we handed these fun buttons out at the show, too! Psst! We saved some for you guys and are including them in all orders placed at the shop, while supplies last!

Jenni was an amazing helper – I couldn’t have done this show without her and am so grateful for her!

We were neighbors with Lawn Fawn and I’m thankful for them, too! They were super sweet and helped us out tremendously! Like… when we forgot the step ladder! LOL!

So many incredible people stopped by the booth and it was SO amazing to meet everyone in person! We were able to snap a few photos, too!

It was such an incredible show! Talking with everyone and hearing how everyone was planning on using our new tags made me feel SO inspired! When Jenni and I got back to the hotel room at night, all I wanted to do was either start scrapbooking or designing! The only thing is that I wish we would have taken more photos – it’s so hard sometimes to catch a break to pick up that camera, but hopefully next time 🙂

Also, I feel so thankful for everyone who told their LSS to stop by and check us out – their aren’t enough words to describe how much I love you guys! Thank you all SOOOO much!!

Project Life

This week’s Project Life covers the week of June 25- July 1.

Yes I am still in the process of catching up in my Project Life album.  Summer (and moving!) has away of packing the calendar and leaving limited time for anything else!  I am finding that printing a big batch of photos, and devoting a few hours out of the week allows me to make a huge dent in the week’s where I fell behind.  I am less worried about design, and more focused on getting the week done!

This particular week happens to be the week before we moved.  I am so glad I have this week documented— so much packed in the week and it just seemed like chaos at the time.  We starting swimming lessons, my daughter had her dance rehearsal/recital, and we continued with our home renovation.   And of course lots of packing.

The previous week, I included my son’s baseball card and just allowed the backside to show through to this week.  I also backed a transparency from last week’s layout with a movie ticket stub.  I was REALLY excited to use many of Elle’s new Everyday tags and Stamps released at CHA.   They are perfect for Project Life! (they will be available soon!).  I also used a digital tag (in the black and white photo below) that is found in my Summer Mini Album workshop– which is still available for purchase!
