Celebrate Decemet | Design Team Gallery Highlights

We’re halfway through our Celebrate December and hope you’re enjoying the amazing projects we’re bringing to you each day!  Today, I thought I’d highlight some of the fantastic holiday themed designs created by our design team in this month’s gallery.

Suz Mannecke created this Christmas themed card design using remnants our Oh Christmas Tree! wood veneer.  So clever!
Looking to spice up your holiday wrapping?  Check out these awesome tags created by Laurel Seabrook.
This layout from Stephanie Bryan really has some star power!  To create her one of a kind background, Stephanie welded several of the star in our December Digital Cut File to complete this amazing tone on tone effect.

Does the idea of creating a December Daily album stress you out?  Jen Chesnick put her own spin on things and created a mini album of envelopes to easily add photos of her family throughout the holiday season.

Design team member Annette Haring is also using Elle’s Studio products to complete her December Daily album.  This two page spread highlights a big day of holiday activities for her family.
We hope these projects from our talented team inspire you to document your activities this holiday season.  Check out these and many other projects in this month’s design team gallery!

Celebrate December with Paige Evans

Welcome to Celebrate December at Elle’s Studio!  The month of December will be packed with holiday inspiration, projects, layouts, and gift ideas from many talented designers.  So, make sure to check the Elle’s Studio blog every day for prizes, giveaways, and inspiration!

Today we have Paige Evans here sharing a beautiful layout using our Noel collection!

Description: I’ve been holding onto these photos of Fox and Jane for a year now waiting for the perfect combination of Christmas supplies to come my way – enter Elle’s Studio special holiday line Noel! I love the traditional green and red with a mix of chalkboard black, kraft, a dash of pink and gray, and there’s even a couple shades of blue, I just opted to use only the other colors. But the blue papers would be perfect for snowy, wintery photos! And the snowflake patterned vellum is delicious – I want to use it everywhere! I’m so happy to finally have these picture from last Christmas scrapped – let’s just hope it doesn’t take me another entire year to scrap the photos that I’ll take this year!

Journaling says: The day after Thanksgiving the Christmas tree goes up and we decorate for the holidays. I couldn’t wait to dress up Fox and Jane in cute holiday gear and pose them in front of the pretty tree!

How to: Punch triangles from patterned paper, patterned vellum, cardstock, patterned packaging paper, and die cuts then adhere the triangles across the bottom half of a white cardstock background. Outline the vellum triangles with clear glitter glue. Top the kraft triangles with wooden veneer stars and embellish some of the other triangles with buttons, brads, and bling. Layer three photos along with journaling spot die cuts and a Polaroid frame die cut in a curve across the top of the layout. Place white foam letter stickers on the photos to create the title. Sew over the top edge of the photos to make a banner look. Embellish the ends and between the photos using wood veneer snowflakes and stars. Tuck a sentiment tab onto the middle photo. Drop black spray mist and India ink on the top right, top left, and bottom right corners. Stamp the date and a few sentiments in black ink on the top left corner.

Today we are giving away a $25 gift certificate to use in our shop!  Leave a comment on this post for your chance to win!

favorite Elle’s Studio Products”  Merry and Bright Wood Veneer, You and Me Paper Pack, You and Me Note Tags.
Why did you start scrapbooking and how did you get started?
I started after I got married in 1999.  My sister in law was scrapbooking and she gifted me a wedding album at my bridal shower.  After I finished my wedding album I moved along to documenting family stuff like trips, holidays, etc.  Since switching to Project Life I find I document those big events but also a lot more of the everyday things that I’ve comet to realize are just as important as the birthdays and holidays.

What are three products you can’t live without?

My Tonic Paper trimmer, I’m obsessed with things being straight and true so this item is key for me.  My Silhouette Cameo, the best decision I ever made,  I get a toni fuse out if it and I love it.  Photoshop Elements, I do every bit of edition and creating on it and I literally cannot scrapbook without it.

Where do you scrapbook?

I have a small loft area on the second floor of our house that’s completely open to the downstairs.  I love it because I have my desk area with my computer and a large standing counter with storage underneath that my husband built for me.  It’s all right here and compact and it’s perfect for me.

What’s your favorite color combination?

Pretty much anything paired with gold metallic.  Lately I’ve been very partial to neon pink and gold but since it’s Christmas time I’ve been all about red and gold.

Do you record every moment or just special ones?
I’m a firm believer in capturing it all.  I’ve been known to put some not so happy faced photos of my daughter in my albums and if something really touches me even in a sad way I figure it’s what I should be documenting.

We are giving away Barbara’s favorite Elle’s Studio Products!

Celebrate December: Sketch

Welcome Celebrate December Sketch Thursday! Today’s sketch was inspired by SuzMannecke’s Joy layout from last month’s DT gallery.

CT member, Daniela played along this week and created this beautiful layout:

I was inspired by the layout…the placement of the title and the strips under that. I added wood veneer bits and tags and then just continued with the tag below. The tag has several tags layered over each other. “December 2012” label was the last thing added to the layout. I felt I needed something green in that spot.  “Be Merry – Lil’ Snippets Label” was perfect. It’s a label from last year. (Still available in the store). -Daniella

For a chance to win a $10 gift certificate to the Shop create a project inspired by today’s sketch, upload it to our Member Gallery and post a link here. A random winner will be selected and announced with next week’s sketch.

Celebrate December with Nicole Reaves

Welcome to Celebrate December at Elle’s Studio!  The month of December will be packed with holiday inspiration, projects, layouts, and gift ideas from many talented designers.  So, make sure to check the Elle’s Studio blog every day for prizes, giveaways, and inspiration!

Today we have Nicole Reaves with us to share a page in her Project Life album using a combination of our Noel Line and the Elle’s Studio December Kit.  We love what she came up with and know you will too!!
Even though I am working on a separate album to document our December and the holidays, I still like to finish out the year, and my final album, with Project Life. This week was the beginning of December and it included a little mix of everyday life and some Christmas activities like decorating and visiting Santa. I really enjoyed using a mix of Elle’s Studio products, especially the Noel line, to complete this spread.

I adore the Noel stamp set for embellishing or creating my own journaling cards and the wood veneer pieces are fun for added dimension. In this spread, I colored on the stars with a gold metallic pen to add a little shimmer.

The tags and journaling cards are perfect as is, but it is also so simple to just trim off the bits that you want and adhere or stitch them onto your photos. Or layer them between paper and other embellishments. The entire line is gorgeous and festive. That’s a win-win in my book!

Today we are giving away the entire Noel Collection!  Leave a comment on this post and we will draw a random winner.   Good Luck!

Celebrate December : Capture Life

Capture Life – Capturing the Beauty of the Season

I love how a fresh blanket of snow brings a sense of magic with the way it gently piles onto every tiny berry and branch. The way the kids run to find their snow gear the minute the flakes begin to fall; even if there isn’t yet enough to go sledding. The way it turns an everyday path through the pine trees into something so spectacular. And the way it brings us all together around the kitchen table sipping on a cup of hot cocoa to warm up.
I love the magic of the season and every tiny flake of snow that descends from above.
I invite you to capture those tiny details of this snowy season.

Celebrate December with May Flaum

Welcome to Celebrate December at Elle’s Studio!  The month of December will be packed with holiday inspiration, projects, layouts, and gift ideas from many talented designers.  So, make sure to check the Elle’s Studio blog every day for prizes, giveaways, and inspiration!

Today we have a fabulous layout by May Flaum!  We just adore her style and the great tips she offers for those special holiday photos.

There are two things that I can be sure of every holiday season:
1.       That the mall Santa photo will never be colored right
2.       That I will be extremely short on scrapbooking time

Luckily for me, I’ve got Elle’s Studio to help me out! When I sat down to scrapbook this photo I knew immediately which paper would work beautifully. This paper from the Noel line already gives the illusion of layers – saving me time on cutting and arranging bits and pieces! All I had to do was add my own personal touches and make it seem like it had more dimension.
To do this I did a few things- here are my tips!
·         Bring in the glitter! Glitter tape and glitter glue are my two favorite
·         Don’t be shy with the Elle’s Studio wood veneers! Love these accents.
·         Add some real stitching in (I used gold and black thread) to accent
·         Sparkle up the holidays with a splash of gold mist
·         Create some actual paper layers with Elle’s Studio tags and cards.
I had a lot of fun creating this layout, and I hope you enjoy it too!

Today we are giving away a set of each of our Wood Veneers!  Leave a comment on this post and we will draw a random winner.   Good Luck!
