 I started with a manilla tag, Love This paper from the Everyday Moments collection, a tag and wood veneer from the March freebie, a few stars from the April Tag Kit (available this coming Monday the 10th!), VersaMark ink, gold embossing powder, and a few embellishments from my stash.

My first step was to cover the tag with the grid side of the paper as well as a bit of the “b” side featuring the dots.

Taking the VersaMark ink, I smeared it around on the bottom portion of the tag and poured over a generous amount of the embossing powder.

Returning the extra powder back to the bottle, I then used my heat gun to bring out the metallic magic of the gold embossing powder.

It creates a fun “gold dipped” look!

The next step is to simply attach the Happy Happy Happy card from the March freebie.

I decided I was going to see what a wood veneer looked like embossed. Again, VersaMark ink, gold embossing powder and set with the heat tool.

I really love how it turned out! A quick way to create a unique embellishment!

Next I ended up adding a bit of gold washi tape to cover a crease that was bothering me. 😉
The stars are placed one at the top and one at the bottom.

And next, the embossed wood veneer and misc embellishments.

And just that easily; done! A quick and easy tag to add to a gift bag or package.

Design Team Gallery Highlight | Shapes

It’s Friday which means it’s time for another round-up of inspiring projects from our super talented design team!  This week, our theme is shapes.  Check out how our team put them to use on these layouts:

Make it known without a doubt that you love the subject of your photo on your next layout!  It’s easy to see in this layout from Becki that she’s crazy about cardigans through her use of hearts.
Let a shape hold various embellishments to create an eye catching design as Patricia did with this layout.  Each triangle holds an embellishment, stamped design, patterned paper, etc.  Clever!
Jenny chose to use design of repeating circles on this layout.  Each circle holds many layers of tags and paper and is surrounded by arrows.  They definitely help your eye move across the page easily!

Lilin also chose a large circle design for her layout but went with one large circle instead of several smaller one.  Her design not only holds several embellished wood veneers but an adorable family photo as well.  Perfect!

Sketch Thursday

Happy Thursday everyone! Today’s sketch was inspired by BeckiAdam’s Cardigan Obsession layout from the DT gallery.


DT members Valerie and Patricia played along this week and created these amazing layouts. I love how both projects were inspired by the same sketch yet are SO different!

I loved the way that the shapes (circles) really helped move your eyes towards the photo, so I took that cue from the sketch and used the nested chevrons to bring your eye towards my photo. The layout includes a sneak peek of one of the diecuts available for March – I used a version of the stars to make a mask and used modeling paste with it as an accent over some spray mist which you can see peeking out at the top left and bottom right sides. I love circles and was instantly inspired by the sketch.  I turned it to make it vertical and fussy cut the Love You More pattern paper to layer for the circles.  I used the sheet of snippets to mat my photos. Patricia

Challenge | Use Elle’s Studio Cut Files

It’s time for a new challenge!  On the first and third Wednesdays of each month, we’ll be issuing you a challenge and then asking you to create a project.  
Here’s how it works: We will give you a layout example and a short description of what to do/use for the particular challenge. Complete the challenge and upload it to our member gallery to be entered  and then post a link to the specific challenge post as a comment for your chance to WIN! Sneak peek of our next exclusive kit for March!

Project Life

Today’s Project Life covers the week of February 10-16th.

I love using the calendars in the 2014 Paper Collection.  It’s a great way to highlight what week it is, and give a summary of the week in the notes.  I used the heart in the Penelope 100% Sweet Stamp to highlight these dates.

It was Valentine’s week, but there were other activities that went on, such as a program at school and every day moments i wanted to highlight, so I didn’t want to overwhelm the spread with Valentine product.  I love how the February Kit, Everyday Moments, and Love You More helped me achieve the look I was going for.

My son had a big program at school this week— it was Patriotic themed and a blast to watch!  I included an American Flag card found in a Project Life Holiday Mini Kit.   The journaling tag next to it is from the Love You More Journaling Tags.

Of course I had to add hearts into a Valentine Spread— My daughter is constantly drawing us pictures and writing little notes, so I added to of these into the spread along with the heart card found in the february kit in order to create a visual triangle across the entire spread.
We want to feature your Project Life album!  During the last week of each month we will be featuring a couple Project Life spreads that caught our eye in the Member Gallery.  We will be posting Project Life spreads on our blog tomorrow!   If your spread is featured we will be sending you a $5 gift card to use in our store.   Good Luck!

sketch Thursday


Welcome back to Sketch Thursday. Today’s sketch was inspired by Juliana’s You Make My Heart Sing layout from this month’s DT gallery.


I was drawn by the grid design of this layout. We haven’t done one of these in a while and it’s about time. I love all the possibilities of a grid, don’t you? 🙂
