Workspace Wednesday with Toni From

Happy Workspace Wednesday! I (Toni From) hope you all are having a great week and enjoying summer. I am sharing a few glimpses into my studio space today with y’all and I hope you like it.

WorkspaceWednesday-ToniFrom10My room isn’t super big, it’s about 11 x 13 feet, but plenty big enough to be creative. It has huge windows covering a large portion of the left wall in this photo. The light is amazing, but it can also make it difficult to photograph this space. I should also mention that it is in our home’s “intended dining room.” We really aren’t that fancy, and didn’t need to use it as a dining room that gets walked by and never used, so I snagged it for myself. Luckily my Mister is totally okay with that. With the room being situated immediately to the left of our foyer, I try to keep it semi-picked up most of the time. This is how it generally looks unless I am working on a bigger project and then the entire white desk in the back is covered and overflowing in crafty goodness. I am an epically messy crafter in the middle of a project, but I am also a good picker upper. 🙂

WorkspaceWednesday-ToniFrom6The wall to the right of my room when you walk in has some picture ledge shelves from IKEA (of course.) I rotate different items onto the shelves and I just recently added these metal letters. They just jumped in my cart at Michael’s basically.

WorkspaceWednesday-ToniFrom3WorkspaceWednesday-ToniFrom5This is the back left corner of my space, and probably my favorite spot in my room. I keep all kinds of mixed media here, and I store adhesive, Project Life, and keep my Elle’s Studio monthly kits in the drawers. The August kit is super cute, you’ll just have to trust me on that one.

WorkspaceWednesday-ToniFrom2Items arranged in color order makes me ridiculously happy. Giddy in fact. Roy G Biv for the win!

WorkspaceWednesday-ToniFrom1To the right of the white drawers I keep three metal bins. I use one for various stamp blocks, one for 4×6 Project Life cards, and the last one is for my Elle’s Studio stamps.

WorkspaceWednesday-ToniFrom8I find that I use my Elle’s Studio stamps again and again (they are super versatile.) Keeping them out on my workspace ensures that I use them often.

WorkspaceWednesday-ToniFrom7I also have a thing for pens. And yes, they are arranged in rainbow order. I guess I need to buy more orange, yellow, and purple ones?

WorkspaceWednesday-ToniFrom4I also like to knit. I started last fall, and really love it. I haven’t knitting anything since March, but I started this project late last week. I have found knitting to be the perfect activity to do when you are watching tv with the family at night.

WorkspaceWednesday-ToniFrom9That brings us back to the room as a whole. The black table is a 3 x 4 foot island that was handmade by an older gentlemen in our small town. It was made from reclaimed pine that was burned and then sealed. I love it. It is insanely heavy, but a fun addition. I stand up and work on a lot of my projects, so it has come in super handy.

I hope you liked visiting my space today and maybe got some ideas for your own space (big or small) in the process. Have a great week! -Toni

Journaling with Lisa Dickinson

EllesStudio-JournalingLisa-03While I (Lisa) usually start my design process with the story, sometimes I’m stumped by what exactly to write in my journaling. My daughter recently starred in a theater production of Annie and there was so much about her experience that I wanted to document! I was feeling a bit overwhelmed and it was preventing me from creating a page about the event. Then I saw the list journal card in the July Kit and it inspired me to start the page with a list (because this style of journaling is usually very easy and low pressure!)

EllesStudio-JournalingLisa-01Using the red numbered list card as a guide, I typed out the 10 reasons my daughter rocked this role. I printed them on white card stock and then cut them into strips to adhere onto the card. (You could also easily type or write directly on the card!)

EllesStudio-JournalingLisa-02With my journaling complete, I laid out the rest of my design that features a 4×6 photo of her on stage. I used several pieces from the July kit, including the star cut files (I cut stars from the border file) that help reinforce my page theme.

EllesStudio-JournalingLisa-04

EllesStudio-JournalingLisa-05While I will probably create lots more pages about this big event, I love how easy this first layout came together, thanks to the prompt from an Elle’s Studio card!

Going BIG with your titles by Jennifer Chapin

jenchapin-pizza-(1)Hello there! Jennifer Chapin here, and today I am sharing some layout inspiration with a “big title”. Elle challenged me to create a layout with a big title, and I had the perfect page in mind. Recently we picked up one of the new hot dog stuffed crust pizzas at my daughter’s request. The Let’s Eat collection was great for documenting it because of all the pizza themed embellishments!
jenchapin-pizza-(2)I started by using an 8.5×11 piece of white cardstock as my background and made my title using my Silhouette and sketch pens. The font is Blackout. After making the title, I filled in some of the letters with patterned paper and others with watercolor.
jenchapin-pizza-(3)Then I got to work on the background. I used the pizza clear stamp to make a pattern of pizzas in the background. Originally I was going to color them in but with the colorful title I thought they looked best left black and white.

I highlighted one of the pieces of pizza at the top with a wood veneer – which is the same size as the stamped image!jenchapin-pizza-(4)I finished the layout off with a few die cuts and journaling from the collection. Thank you so much for coming by the blog today! I hope you have some inspiration now to scrap your good eats…and maybe with a big title too. Have a great day!

Celebrate card by Jessy Christopher

Hello there!! Jessy here to share with you a card I created with the July exclusive kit + Weekend stamp. Celebrate-cardIt’s pretty simple to create this card. First, you’ll need to stamp all the images on the weekend stamp in the middle of your cardstock. Basically I used the same composition that is in the stamp. Once that is done, I cut 2 strips of the same patterned paper and adhered at each corner of the cardstock. Finally, I completed my card with the July tags & labels. The celebrate tag was adhered with foam dots for dimension. I also added wood veneer stars to give interest to my card.

Thank you for letting me share today! Hope you are inspired to create a card today with your Elle’s Studio kit!

Documenting the Fourth with Michelle Wedertz

FireworksHello! Michelle here – I’m not an overly thematic scrapper-except when it comes to the Fourth of July! For this holiday all of my photos tend to be so dominated by red, white, and blue that it makes total sense to want to reach for the patriotic scrapbooking supplies.

Fireworks-3Luckily for me, since I don’t have a lot of those supplies on hand, the July Kit had a great assortment of Fourth of July tags, cards, and embellishments and I was able to make my pages as festive as the photos.Fireworks-2I hope this inspires you to get your Fourth of July photos scrapbooked as soon as your July kit arrives!

PROJECT LIFE

Today I am sharing a peek into my Summer Project Life album.IMG_2495I decided to use a smaller album to document the summer- and it has worked SO well.  I am using a 6×8 album and documenting our favorite memories (not necessarily going on a week by week basis).  It’s already so fun to look back at these memories from the beginning summer.IMG_2487One thing I like to add to my journaling cards are self drawn lines to highlight my journaling.  This helps frame the journaling card and draw attention to the story.

IMG_2490

I used the June 2015 kit to create this layout.  I love the orange, blues and yellows in this kit!IMG_2493

I just love the watermelon journaling card- it’s the perfect journaling spot to document a favorite summer treat!IMG_2497

Patriotic Card with Melissa Mann

Good Morning! This is Melissa Mann here with you today sharing a patriotic card I made with the very versatile July exclusive kit + extras that will be available on July 10th at 8:00 am PST.

July_MLM1

To create this card, I cut a piece of Kraft cardstock to 4.25″x6″. I used the star digital file from June and cut it out using my Silhouette Cameo. Once it was cut out, I used blue and red watercolors on it. I stitched this down on the Kraft card stock using my sewing machine. I stitched a small red label down at the bottom from the “Let’s Eat” paper collection. I layered one of the vellum stars in the lower right hand corner and placed the 3×4 “Fireworks” card on top and stitched it down with my sewing machine – both from the July kit. To finish it off, I layered a few more stars from the July kit in the corners and then placed a few of the acrylic stars (from the July extras) around them.
