Using our September Course for Inspiration by Toni From

Happy Saturday! It’s hard to believe it’s already the weekend. Do you have any scrapping plans? Do you have a bunch of scrapbook pages, or pocket style pages that you want to catch up on? If any of this is ringing true for you, you should definitely read this blog post today – I have the solution for you.

Elle asked me to play along with the Exclusive September PDF Course this month, and I was more than happy to oblige. Did you know that Elle’s Studio now has a coordinating class to go with each and every monthly kit? You can find out more about the course HERE. I loved this course. The content and product photography were both stunning and informative. Information learned in this class can be used to give you inspiration for the current monthly kit, as well as inspire you in future Elle’s Studio kits and other creative endeavors. I highly recommend making it part of your purchase!

For my project today, I worked on a Project Life spread. I don’t know about you, but I got really behind in pocket scrapbooking over the summer. This course gave me some tips and tricks that really sped up the process for me, and allowed me to make sure I told the important stories.

EllesStudio-ToniPL-01
For the left side of my pocket page layout I used a series of 3×4 photographs and journaling cards. I used three of the journaling cards to tell longer stories. The September Kitteal letter and number stickersLet’s Eat Wood Veneer, Let’s Eat Journaling Tags, and Thankful Journaling Tags worked perfectly for this week.

EllesStudio-ToniPL-02For the right side, I used 3 x 3 pockets and really like how this turned out. I trimmed down some of the 3 x 4 journaling cards by cutting off 1/2 inch from the top and bottom. The pie chart die cut from the September Kit was the perfect embellishment to add on top of a grid card I had in my stash. I used the pie chart as a jumping off point to hi light one key item for every person in our family this week.

I love adding embellishments and stamping to the journaling cards in the monthly kits. For the yellow journaling card (from the September kit), I added a little bit of this and that to make it a graphic statement. I used the Jordan outline and Jordan dots and stripes stamps, the heart die cut from the Exclusive September kit, and teal letter and number stickers. I also used a roller date stamp from my stash and a staple to hold my embellishment group together.

I Love the “(Blank) will always be my fav” tag (from the September kit) and found the perfect thing to use it for. This week in Project Life, marked the first week of school for us and a new super early schedule. (Like Zero Dark Thirty Early.) I found the Coffee Meme the first day of our new schedule on the internet and just screen captured it on my I phone, and later printed it to include this week. The letter and number stickers that spell out “coffee” and the coffee mug wood veneer from the Let’s Eat collection were just perfect for this pocket.

Sketch Thursday

EllesStudioSketch-09-17-15

Happy Sketch Thursday, everyone! Today we have this fun sketch inspired by Melissa’s fun “Snapshot” layout! Daniela is playing along with us today and she took this layout sketch, and used it to create this cute card, along with a custom made stamped background!! Here’s what she has to say:

Hello-by-Daniela-Dobson

For this sketch I made a card and I used 3 stripes of patterned paper for the front, as in the sketch, and nothing for the fourth “photos”. I stamped the background with Thankful Stamp set.

Hello-close-by-Daniela-Dobson
The two hearts, from the Thankful – Bits and Pieces, were adhered using 3D foam squares. I tied twine and added matching pearls to the card. The Hello sentiment is from Cienna – Hello Stamp.

PROJECT LIFE

Today I am going to share the opening pages of my Fall 2015 Project Life albumI IMG_9096

I decided to use the 9×12 sized album to document our fall family memories (I am also working on separate Childhood albums for my children which will highlight their school year).   I love this particular album and pocket sizes.  It’s a very manageable!

IMG_9101

For many of my opening pages I use coin pocket pages to create a collage.  Often, I will somewhat repeat the pattern I have used in the past and just add different sentiments and photos (you can see my pocket page that I “lifted” here).  Why recreate the wheel, right? IMG_9107

Using the new Thankful collection gave it a “fall feel”, without feeling overly autumn.  The September 2015 kit also worked well in this spread.  I just love those vellum hearts, and decided to give them it’s own pocket!

IMG_9111

This first page after the cover page quickly highlights the first day of school.  I documented more details of back to school in each of the kid’s childhood albums.

One of my favorite aspects of using the coin pocket page is seeing how the page behind it peeks through with some of the more open pockets.  Below you can see what it looks like when you first open my album.

Ready by Michelle Wedertz

ReadyToday we are sharing a new layout Michelle made, featuring our new Thankful collection! Here’s what Michelle had to say about it:

“When I looked back through my camera roll at all the pictures that I took of my daughter on her first day of kindergarten, I was so excited by the fun and color that had captured on this big occasion. The new Thankful Collection was the perfect match for these photos and I was really happy to find a set of papers that conveyed so perfectly the feelings of this special day.”
Ready-3

“Since the background in my picture was already so busy I decided to use small amounts of the patterned paper from Thankful as well as a few of the tags and labels from the Bits & Pieces. ”

Ready-2We love how this came together, Michelle! Thank you so much for sharing with us today!

You can stock up on our new Thankful collection, and Joyful collection now in our shop – both are great collections for documenting family, fun, autumn, and the holidays! And, don’t forget to upload your projects to our Member Gallery! We LOVE seeing how everyone uses our products!

Pin-Inspired by Jessy Christopher

I absolutely adore Pinterest. It’s one of the first stop whenever I need some ideas. I was browsing for today’s Pin Inspired project and came across these pretty brush strokes. Immediately I knew that I have to paint my background with these similar colors. And instantly I knew that Cienna collection will be perfect too!
PinterestI started with painting the strokes in the shade of pink + red violet and in between I filled these shades with gold. I really liked how it turned out.PreciousOnce the background is completely dried, I positioned my photo at the far right. Then I slowly work my way around the photo by layering all the bits & pieces in Cienna collection + September kit too. Added that pop of black vellum leaves and word are it turned out great! Lastly, I completed the layout with stamping “remember” multiple times and splattered gold mist. EllesStudio-JessyEllesStudio-Jessy2I hope today’s post inspired you to create something you have pinned as well. Please feel free to use this piece as inspiration and post it in the Elle’s Studio gallery or on Instagram and tag #ellesstudio. We would love to see what you are creating!

Pocket Pages with the Thankful Collection by Melissa Mann

September_MLM8Good Morning! I’m excited to be sharing some of my Project Life Album with you this morning. I just started working on the month of July and I had to start my second album; here’s hoping the last half of the year will all fit in this one album! I’m using the 9×12 size album this year and I absolutely have loved this size!

September_MLM10When I first start working on a spread in my album, I decide first which page protectors I’m going to use. This will determine what size photos and how many photos I need. I usually always plan to have at least one pocket on each page contain strictly journaling.

September_MLM7Sometimes, depending on if I am short on pictures, I may include more journaling. For this spread, I was using a page protector that had ten 3×4 pockets and four 4×6 pockets. I printed off six 3×4 photos and two 4×6 photos using Adobe Photoshop and my Canon Selphy printer. This printer makes it extremely easy to print my pictures directly at home as needed!

September_MLM9Once my photos are printed, I cut them all out and decide which cards I want to use. I typically back all of my photos on either 4×6 cards/paper or 3×4 cards/paper. I typically always stitch these photos down using my sewing machine. First, I get all the sewing done; second, I always type out my journaling on my tags and labels; third, I cut out all the typed labels and adhere them down onto their respective photos. I finish off with stickers and other embellishments.

September_MLM11Thanks so much for stopping  by to take a peek at my pocket pages!
