Sunny Days Inspiration by Jen Schow

EllesStudio-SunnyDays-01
This week we are highlighting our brand new Sunny Days collection with projects and inspiration from our Design Team!

Hi there! It’s Jen Schow with a layout featuring the brand new Sunny Days collection. This collection is bright, cheerful, and fun and I knew I needed to use it to document some playful beach photos from a family vacation last year.

EllesStudio-JenSchow-BeachPlay01Products used: Sunny Days 12 x 12 papers, 6 x 6 papers, Word Labels, Puffy Stickers, Wood Veneers, Bits and Pieces, and Letter and Number Stickers – Pink.

I love that the newer collections from Elle’s Studio include 6×6 papers because it’s fun to have smaller patterns. I cut up the wave pattern to include in my layers and I love the way it looks.

EllesStudio-JenSchow-BeachPlay02
My other favorite thing has to be the puffy stickers. They are just too good and will be restocked soon! The sun was the perfect addition to my title, which I hand-lettered with some watercolors.

If you want to see how this layout came together, I created a process video for your viewing pleasure! Enjoy!

SUNNY DAYS INSPIRATION BY JENNI HUFFORD

EllesStudio-SunnyDays-01

This week we are highlighting our brand new Sunny Days collection with projects and inspiration from our Design Team!

Hey everyone!  It’s Jenni here today sharing a pocket page spread using our new Sunny Days collection!

IMG_9446

We just got home from a beach vacation and I knew the Sunny Days collection would be the perfect match for my photos!

IMG_9430

I used a variety of the Sunny Days 12×12 Pattern Paper (I love the pattern paper that has journaling cards you can trim!) and also the Sunny Days Journaling Tags to create this spread.  I decided to tell less about what we did over the days we were at the beach, and instead, I journaled about all the collective memories and favorite things about this beach we frequently visit.

IMG_9439

I loved adding the Bits and Pieces, Puffy Stickers, and the Wood Veneers to this spread to give it the perfect summer touch!

Sunny Days Inspiration by Jamie Leija

This week we are highlighting our brand new Sunny Days collection with projects and inspiration from our Design Team!EllesStudio-JamieLeija-Flipbook02

Hiya, it’s Jamie! I have a project I’m so excited to share with you today!

I think the Sunny Days collection is so fun with its bright summery colors! I looked at it and thought it’d be perfect for a mini book filled with photos of my nephew at the pool. He LOVES the pool and could spend every day all day splashing around. When I went to pull photos, I realized I didn’t have many, just 2 or 3. But, I did have a bunch of video clips! So I decided to make something I’ve never made before…a flip book!

EllesStudio-JamieLeija-Flipbook01Products used: Sunny Days 6 x 6 Paper Stack, Sunny Days Stamp, Sunny Days Bits & Pieces, and Sunny Days Puffy Stickers

Not gonna lie, this was a beast of a project. It took a lot of time and photo editing. The images aren’t the greatest. But in the end I think it’s such a fun project! I love flipping through it and seeing him splash around, paddle, turn. His smile says it all!

EllesStudio-JamieLeija-Flipbook03
For the cover, I used the info sheet from the Sunny Days Paper Stack. The tiny grid was the perfect scale for this smaller project. I stamped a sun and also “happiness” and “awesome”. The embellishing was simple, just two die cuts from the Bits & Pieces pack and a puffy heart. I clipped it all together with a binder clip and now it’s so easy to flip!

Thanks for stopping by today – make sure you check back tomorrow, and all week long, to see even more inspiration!

Sunny Days Inspiration by Daniela Dobson

EllesStudio-SunnyDays-01
This week we are highlighting our brand new Sunny Days collection with projects and inspiration from our Design Team!

Welcome to the Elle’s Studio blog post today. It’s Daniela here sharing a layout using our new Sunny Days collection. I can’t even tell you how much I love this collection. I can finally scrapbook all my summer photos!

Summer-fun--by-Daniela-Dobson
I started my layout with patterned paper and then I added the striped patterned paper to each side. I wanted to add a big sun to the layout and I hand cut a circle and some triangles from patterned paper. I added a die cut to the center using foam adhesive. To the background I added modeling paste with a stencil, sprinkles of color shine, and sequins from my stash.

Summer-fun-close--by-Daniela-Dobson
I had lots of fun with various die cuts, stickers, labels, and stamps from this collection. I noticed that there were lots of fun words in one of the cut apart patterned papers so I added those, as well.

Creating a colorful cohesive layout with special guest Emily Spahn

It’s June, which for a lot of us, means the start of summer! This month’s kit is packed with bright, beautiful colors to document those summer memories, and we wanted to choose a guest designer who wasn’t afraid to use them! If you’ve seen Emily Spahn’s work, or her home photos, you know that she is a fan of ROY G BIV, so let’s give her a big welcome to the Elle’s Studio blog!

EllesStudio-EmilySpahn-awesome02
Hi everyone!  I’m so happy to be here as the Elle’s Studio guest for June. I had a blast playing with the brand new Sunny Days collection, as well as the exclusive June kit!  When I opened my box of goodies, I was blown away by all the fun, bright, summery colors! I am totally motivated by color and fun color combinations, so these products are right up my alley!  For my first project this month, I created a single page 8.5” x 11” layout. I love the 8.5” x 11” size because it’s big enough to include lots of embellishments and elements with just enough white space!

EllesStudio-EmilySpahn-awesome01
I took some adorable photos of my youngest son last weekend at a family wedding held at a farm. I asked him to smile in front of the barn and he went crazy as I snapped away. I ended up with about 10 sweet photos, but I found three I liked best to include on the layout. I printed out small, bordered photos on my home printer. The photos feature both blue and red, so I knew I wanted blue and red to be prominent in my layout, however I also didn’t want it to seem patriotic, so I added my favorite color, yellow, and after putting it all together, I decided it also needed some aqua… because really, what layout doesn’t need aqua?!

I overlapped four patterned papers from the Sunny Days 6” x 6” paper stack to create a large mat behind my photos. I am not a neat and orderly person, and neither are my layouts! I don’t like things clean and measured, so I just kind of pieced the photo mat all together without much concern for perfection! The wonkier, the better in my book!

Next I attached my three photos to the page. At first, I was going to raise all three photos off the page with foam dots, but I decided instead to leave the center photo lower than the others to create more variation in dimension.  I added lots of other smaller embellishments from the June exclusive kit and the Sunny Days bits and pieces.  I kept changing and adding- in fact, I even added that little “the best” die cut after I had photographed my layout, so I had to go back and photograph it again!

EllesStudio-EmilySpahn-awesome05
I used the dot stamp from the Sunny Days stamp set to create some journaling lines beneath my photos. I wanted a clean, simple title, so I chose to use the word “awesome” from the Sunny Days wood veneers. I loved the big star die cuts in the Sunny Days bits and pieces and added one next to the title.

I am very particular about cohesiveness on my layouts. Everything has to appear at least twice – so when I used the wood title, I needed to make sure there was wood somewhere else on the layout.  And, when I chose to use stars next to the title, it meant there would need to be stars on other parts of the layout.  Luckily, I was able to find tons of stars in the June exclusive kit,  Sunny Days wood veneers, Sunny Days puffy stickers, patriotic acrylic stars, and even the stars in the Sunny Days stamp.

EllesStudio-EmilySpahn-awesome04
To finish my layout, I just added even more small elements, like the stripe along the bottom, which was actually the label strip from the Sunny Days Sunglasses patterned paper, the blue “details” card and yellow label from the June exclusive kit and the aqua puffy star from the Sunny Days puffy stickers. Finally, I included a few splatters of black mist and some staples.

EllesStudio-EmilySpahn-awesome03
One of my favorite things about Elle’s Studio products is how well they all coordinate with each other without being too matchy. I love all the colors, patterns, and textures in this layout!

EllesStudio-EmilySpahn-awesome06Hi! I’m Emily Spahn and I’m so happy to be the June guest designer here at Elle’s Studio! I live in the great state of Wisconsin with my husband and three children. I have a background in music education, but I’m presently taking a short break from teaching to stay at home with my kids. I began scrapbooking in about fifth grade, when I made my first meticulously crafted page using white typing paper and a hand-drawn crayon title.  It was spectacular.  I’ve been hooked every since!  I’ve been scrapping more seriously since about 2008.  Since then I’ve had the pleasure of being on a number of design teams and having my work published in various magazines. My style is colorful and fun with a focus on the little details. In addition to scrapbooking, I also enjoy spending time with my family, reading, music, the outdoors, and my newest hobby – decorating and updating our “new” 90+ year old home! I’m slightly addicted to Instagram (@justemscraps), so follow me there to find out what’s up with my life and my scrapbooking!

You can find more of Emily’s work on Instagram and Facebook. Thanks so much for sharing your awesome layout with us, Emily!

Patterned Paper with special guest Elizabeth Gardner

Elizabeth Gardner is back with us today to share her last project as a guest designer! So far, she’s shown us a fun, new way to use our stamps to create an interesting background, and how to add both machine stitching and hand stitching to add more interest to our layouts. Let’s see what she has for us today:

EllesStudio-ElizabethGardner-15
I love thinking of ways to use a number of patterned papers on one layout. For this page, I took the 12” x 12” ombre All My Heart patterned paper from the Little Moments 12” x 12” paper collection and cut it into strips. Then, I did the same with various smaller patterns from the Little Moments 6” x 6” paper stack, being sure to keep them all the same dimension. The next step was to arrange them on the page & sew the edges for a bit of texture.

EllesStudio-ElizabethGardner-16EllesStudio-ElizabethGardner-17
Some simple embellishment using tags from the May 2016 exclusive kit, Good Stuff puffy stickers, Little Moments bits and pieces, and the “today” acrylic, finished off the layout.

Headshot_ElizabethGHello there! I’m so excited to be guest designing for Elle’s Studio. Let me tell you a little bit about myself. I’m a mom of four, wife to a man I refer to only as “Hottie,” & owner of a velcro dog named Mr. Snicklefritz McGee. I am addicted to playing roller derby and changing my hair color. I’m also a stone cold crafting/art/scrapbooking nerd and am proud of it! I get ridiculously excited over watercolors and scrappy products hot off the presses. I have tried my hand at just about every medium of art but scrapbooking is my constant. It’s my jam. I typically do pocket pages and 12×12 pages… at least 4 a week. So I guess you could say I am one productive nerd! Thanks for having me. It was a pleasure!

You can find more of Elizabeth’s work at her blog, My Scrappy Life, and on her Instagram feed! Thanks so much for sharing your awesome layout, Elizabeth!

Working with our sketch class by Daniela Dobson

Welcome to the Elle’s Studio blog today. It’s Daniela here sharing a layout using our new From Sketch to Finish Digital Class. This class is awesome and is filled with sketches and wonderful examples from ten different contributors. I created this layout based on one of the sketches. I had a hard time deciding which sketch I wanted to do since I love them all.

Today-by-Daniela-DobsonProducts used: From Sketch to Finish Digital Class, Little Moments 12 x 12 Paper Collection, Little Moments 6 x 6 Paper Stack, Little Moments – Bits and Pieces, Elle’s Studio May 2016 Kit, Documented Stamp, Tab Die, Documented Acrylic Words – White, Documented Journaling Tags, Basic Journaling Tags – Gray, Crop and Stamp Acrylic Block, Good Stuff Puffy Stickers, and Letter & Number Stickers – Yellow

I layered the photo with patterned paper and days of the week tag from Elle’s Studio May 2016 Kit.  I added two different die cuts from my stash that I had laying around. And, I added some hand stitching to the die cut and the “today” acrylic word.

Today-close-2-by-Daniela-Dobson
I used the Documented Stamp throughout the layout, adding little polka dots to the left and right top of the layout. In addition, I filled in the empty journaling square of the Documented Journaling Tags by stamping diagonal stripes. I stamped the tab and “don’t forget” from Documented Stamp and die cut the tab with the Tab Die.

Full-of-SunshineSupplies: From Sketch to Finish Class; Little Moments Patterned Paper and Cut OutsMint Letters & Numbers; and Exclusive May Kit.

Hi everyone! Michelle here – When I started scrapbooking several years ago, sketches were a tool that I used often to help me get my creative process started. Sketches are an easy way to jump into a project because they let me skip the sometimes time consuming task of coming up with a design from scratch. Sketches provide that starting point that I need, yet give me the flexibility to make them work for me.

Full-of-Sunshine2
For this layout, I used one of the Bonus Sketches that comes with the From Sketch to Finish Class and I was pretty pleased with how it turned out. The sketch was a fairly simple design and using bits and pieces from both the Little Moments Collection and the exclusive May Kit, I was able to finish this project in a short amount of time!
