Mini Album Pages with Special Guest Rory Vaillancourt

Today we welcome Rory Vaillancourt back! We have been so inspired by her mini album pages and today’s project has us inspired to start our December Daily albums! Rory certainly has a way of adding just the right touches to her projects. Let’s see what she created:

Hello! I am happy to be back with you for my second guest post this month. Today I have two more layouts in my favorite size: A5 half-fold. I am completely in love with this versatile size. It’s just right for mini albums or memory planners.

This layout is all about gathering crafty goodness in the woods. We set out to get our rustic crafty supplies and made and afternoon of it.

I printed out my journaling on the ‘currently’ tag from the Autumn journaling tags. Then I went to town layering tags and papers with the Tis The Season 6 x 6 paper stack, Tis The Season double sided journaling tags and Autumn journaling tags.

The facing page is all about the fabulous acrylics: the large acrylic stars, stars and hearts frosted acrylics and Autumn acrylic. I made a banner and tied one end around the photo, strung the stars and such then secured to the back of the layout. I love all the white with the punches of colour on this layout, especially red!

My second layout is about more crafty goodness, but not the actual gathering of supplies. It explains my love of making handmade gifts for Christmas, and how at this time every year I have a million ideas because I have caught the “Christmas Spirit” and not enough time to get all those yummy projects done in time.

I printed out a full page photo for the left side and used a full page of the Tis the Season patterned paper on the right. I did not put anything on that paper- since I love it so much I just wanted it on it’s own! I then printed my journaling on the Tis The Season double sided journaling tag.

I added the “Joy” card in front of the full page, and it flips up to reveal the hidden journaling and a wood veneer gingerbread.

Here is a look at the backside of the 4” x 6” tag. I added the word “joy” and stars from the Tis The Season puffy sticker sheet, and the red label from Tis The Season bits and pieces, which I stamped with the “joy” sentiment from the Good Cheer stamp set.

I have so enjoyed sharing these projects with you and I am grateful to have had the opportunity to play with all the Elle’s Studio goodness! I will definitely be making more pages for my album with the ‘Tis The Season collection! Thank you, Elle, for having me!

Thankful For scrapbook layout process video with Jen Schow

Thanksgiving is next week, here in the US and it always gets me thinking about who and what I’m thankful for. I usually send out some thank you cards and today, I wanted to share a layout I created with three simple things I’m grateful for right in this moment. I think these small kind of stories are so important to document.

Products used: November Kit, Good Cheer Stamp Set, Date It Stamp Set, Cozy Printables, ’Tis the Season 12 x 12 Papers, and Letter and Number stickers: White, and Gray.

When I want to focus on the words, I often use a full photo for my background and keep things really simple. I fussy cut the title and the “Magic Found Here” out of a few of the 3×4 and 4×6 tags that came in the November kit and used the numbers from the Good Cheer stamp set to create my list. I journaled directly on the photo, which was easy because I printed it on cardstock.

At the bottom of my layout I used the glorious new Date It Stamp (and the angels sang) and the three heart die cuts that came in the kit this month. Going with the whole idea of simplicity, I decided to flip the hearts over and use the white backs instead of the colorful side.

Mini Album Pages with Special Guest Rory Vaillancourt

We are so excited to welcome Rory Vaillancourt as our guest designer for the month of November! Rory has a beautifully clean and colorful style, and we love how she mixes things up with sizes different than the normal 12” x 12” layouts. Today she’s sharing some pages from her mixed album, which includes her planner, journaling and scrapbook pages! How awesome is that?

A big excited, “hello” to you today! I am thrilled to be guest designing here at Elle’s Studio this month. I made a couple of pages for my memory/journal/planner mini album with some of the fantastic products in my box of joy, which included the ‘Tis the Season collection!

I printed and cut my photo into a tag shape. I had a hard time choosing which wood veneer to use, since I love them all! I finally settled on my favorite ones from the Autumn Wood Veneers and Autumn Wood Veneers Attachers. My story is on a second tag under the photo, documenting a perfect fall day.

I continued the layout with this title page. I cut out the leafy branches out of the awesome wood grain paper from the ‘Tis The Season 12” x 12” paper collection. I love the wood grain paper alongside the white grid, which also came from the same collection pack. I kept the title simple, true to my style, using the Fall Acrylic. The acrylic and wood veneer contrast each other well and make for interesting texture on the page.

My second layout is all about my photo wish list this year. I took this photo of my daughter a few years ago and want to get back outside with Santa hats and dogs in tow to get some more shots like this.

The Good Cheer Acrylic piece from the ‘Tis The Season collection was just perfect for this layout.

The accompanying page includes the photo wish list. I did a print and cut of three large tickets and added my top three photos I would like to get this holiday season. The tickets are topped with three papers from the ‘Tis The Season 6” x 6” paper stack. The scale of the patterns on the 6” x 6” papers worked beautifully for this and added a splash of colour. I dangled all the tickets on that fabulous acrylic star from the Large Acrylic Star pack and layered up the Acrylic Christmas Trees at the bottom right to balance everything out. To finish it off, I added a tiny star from the ‘Tis the Season puffy stickers.

I must say, all the ES acrylic pieces are outstanding and match the coordinating ES products to a “T”. I love adding them to my projects!

Documenting Christmas with Melissa Mann

Good Morning everyone! Melissa here and I’m sharing a Christmas themed layout with you today using the November exclusive products and the “Good Cheer” paper collection!

Supplies used: ‘Tis the Season Stamp Set, Elle’s Studio November 2016 Kit, Good Cheer Pattern Paper Collection, Deck the Halls Wood Veneer, Stars and Hearts Frosted Acrylic, and Joyful Stickers.

I love pattern paper but sometimes have a hard time using it when it has a bold pattern on it. I LOVED the piece of pattern paper from the “Good Cheer” collection (from a couple of years ago) that had the various colored diamonds across it but it was too busy to use as a solid piece of background paper. Instead, I decided to cut out some of the diamonds out and place them in rows across the left hand side of the paper and then stitch them down using my sewing machine. I placed a piece of the wood-grain paper on the right side of the layout and layered my photos and 3×4 journaling card across the lower right hand corner.

I loved how the end result turned out! To finish it off, I placed various tags and embellishments from the November release on my layout. I used some of the frosted acrylic pieces and placed them in a few diamonds and tucked some tags, stickers, and wood veneer around my photos!

Documenting Christmas with Jamie Leija

Hiya, it’s Jamie and I’m so excited to be scrapbooking Christmas! I know, it’s early. But there’s no better way for me to get into the Christmas spirit than scrapbooking about this magical season.

Products used: Supplies Used: Malia Alphabet Stamp, Tis the Season – Cutouts, Tis the Season – Puffy Stickers, Tis the Season – Bits & Pieces, Tis the Season – Wood Veneers, Tis the Season – Frosted Acrylic Shapes, Tis the Season – Washi Tape Stickers, Tis the Season – 12×12 Paper Collection, Letter & Number Stickers – Green, Good Cheer Stamp, Deck the Halls Wood Veneer, Christmas Wood Veneer Attachers, and Gingerbread Wood Veneer.

Christmas is one of those events where you can easily scrap dozens of pages! Maybe I will one day. But at this point, I was more concerned with getting the big stuff recorded. And I thought a quick and easy way to do this was with a timeline.

This double page layout was really quick and easy to put together. I printed my photos, added a date stamp and then embellished my heart away! It was so easy to do with the help of the Tis the Season collection and a few of this month’s extras.

My photos are sized at 1 1/4 in squares and the embellishments don’t overwhelm them. I used die cuts, puffy stickers, wood veneer, acrylic pieces, washi tape, and stamps to decorate near each photo/event.

I love how this page turned out! Even if I never make another page about Christmas 2015 I’ll still have the big stuff recorded!

Sketch Class Highlight

Kay says “I love using a sketch when I’m not feeling very creative. It gives me a starting place, and often the end result doesn’t look anything like the sketch.
