Hiya, scrappy peeps! It’s Suzanna here today! Today I’m sharing with you a new sketch and day nine of my Document December album, inspired by the sketch. Documenting and memory keeping tends to be rather Document December focused for me during the holiday month. This particular sketch is perfect for that purpose. Well, part of that. Keep reading, you will see what I mean by such a qualifying statement.
Here’s the sketch:
This my interpretation:
Supplies | December 2020 Kit, Good Cheer Printables, December 2020 Cut Files, Comfort and Joy Stickers, Joyful Chipboard Stickers, Green Acetate Alphabet, Dark Red Puffy Alphabet Stickers, Christmas Basics 6 x 8.5 Inch Paper Stack, Fa La La 6 x 8.5 Inch Paper Stack, Happiness & Cheer Stamp, Holiday Noted Stamp, My Star Metal Die
I used the sketch to inspire part of the whole day’s documenting; the part about the kittens and their relationship with the Christmas tree. This is Luna and Jasmine’s first Christmas and thus, first experience with a Christmas tree. They tend to have a naughty streak so we assumed, wrongly, that they would be in the tree. Luna likes to nap under the tree while Jasmine prefers her gnome blanket beside the tree.
I used the overall idea of the sketch by using two of the three columns, one for either side of the spread. This spread is actually the inside of a fold out, right hand page. I created my own Silhouette digital cut file (which you can download for free from my Instagram profile!) The nature of the fold out was perfect for the two columns: one for each kitten.
I created a tag for each kitten that fits into a vellum pocket. Each tag topper is the top part of a 3″ x 4″ tag; the green from the December 2020 Kit while the red is from the Good Cheer Printables. The photo overlays this and the journaling about each kitten’s tree preference in the back. The tag is then topped with overlapping die cut stars, cut using the My Star Metal Die. Each vellum pocket is then decorated with die cuts found in the kit, chipboard from the Joyful Chipboard Stickers and a color-corresponding puffy alpha. Simple!
While unrelated to the sketch, the day wouldn’t complete without the “opener” with the date and the introduction to the theme of the day, our Christmas tree. I used the awesome Green Acetate Alphabet number nine to indicate the date with the inside of the tree tag from the December 2020 Cut Files, a 3″ x 4″ tag from the kit and the Happiness & Cheer Stamp, mixed with the tree from the Holiday Noted Stamp. The row of greens stamped with two hues of green, mimicking the stand of trees from the top left of the journaling tag is so easy to do, yet provides a powerful punch to the finish of this spread.
Here’s a closer look at the stamping;
I do have a process video that will be up on my YouTube channel should you want to watch how everything came together!
