Outside of the Pocket with Aurélie Cormier

Hello, everyone! It’s Aurélie here to show you what I’ve been creating lately with the June 2022 kit and add-ons. Since one could easily be fooled to think that the monthly kits can only be used for traditional pocket pages, I am always looking for unique ways to use them. Truth be told, I haven’t done a pocket page, traditional or not, with any of the kits, yet! With this in mind, I’ll be sharing a few tricks with you to make these kits super versatile for all papercrafters!

1. Cut, cut, cut.

Stretch those 3 x 4-inch tags by sandwiching a photo between two pieces of one tag. Slim down those 4 x 6-inch tags by singling out elements that can emphasize your design. Cut strips of tags to create visually-appealing triangular patterns that enable the eye to naturally move across your page(s).

2. Fussy cut!

Where did I find the two-toned stars, you may ask? I fussy-cut them from one of the 3 x 4-inch tags! Fussy-cutting interesting design elements found on pocket tags creates new textures for matching add-on elements. I did the same thing with a few starburst elements I found on another 3 x 4-inch tag, too!

3. Go against a theme!

When you receive your kits and add-ons, try to think of different ways to interpret the kit themes. There are always design elements that can be used for all kinds of memories. This way, you’ll stretch your kits that much further just like I did with the June Kit for some of our first memories with our new puppy, Bill.

We can’t wait to see what you’ll come up with! Please share your projects with us at our Elle’s Studio Facebook Group or on Instagram using the hashtag #ellesstudio!
