These Christmas Moments in Pockets with Meg Gundlach

Hello scrappy friends, it’s Meg here with my final blog post of 2021! I’m sure most people are up to their elf ears in Document December right now and I hope you are enjoying every jolly minute. I can’t seem to stop breaking out the seasonal pages, so I’m back with a December pocket page from my 2014 album.

Supplies | December 2021 Kit, Wintertime Printables, For the Record Journaling Tags, Wintertime Vellum Stickers, Grateful Chipboard Stickers, Puffy Asterisk Stickers, Good Times Banner Stamp, Winter Tabs Stamp, For The Record Stamp, Title Builder Vol. 5 The Merriest Stamp, December Documented Stamp, Happy Holidays Stamp, Mini Dated Stamp, Mini Dated Extras Stamp, Stanley Jr. Alphabet Stamp

After making several projects with the December 2021 kit and add-ons, I still had stamps I wanted to play with, so I used the Wintertime Printables to squeak out one more spread. It’s so fun to embrace all the different ways the products can be paired and expanded on, especially when you start pulling in tools and digital files!

I feel like the week of Christmas is different in every album I make. Some years, it is a spread to itself. Some years, it is combined with Christmas Eve. For 2014, I laid it out starting with Monday (as normal), stopping on Christmas Day when my pockets were full. Allowing myself this flexibility lets me include all the photos I love while absorbing periods with less going on. Honestly, would you have even noticed this wasn’t a full week if I hadn’t told you?

I was in love with the dark red title tag from the moment I opened the December Kit, and I had to use it. I knew that my dates would only need one of the pre-printed banners so it was the perfect opportunity to pull out the Title Builder Vol. 5 The Merriest Stamp and incorporate a longer phrase. I also messy stamped the banner outline from the Good Times Banner Stamp in a coordinating color just because it felt fun.

Tags that are divided into smaller sections are my absolute favorite, and I already know I will be reprinting this one many times. This was the perfect home for some little stories early in the week. The December Documented Stamp fit right in to specify the days, but the Monthly Numbers Stamp could take this into any time of the year!

The right side of the spread is dedicated to Christmas Day and I chose to simply repeat a lot of elements from the left side, rather than pulling in other holiday specific icons. Everything Elle makes coordinates beautifully and the designs in the December Kit were plenty merry to wrap up this page and tie a bow on it.

Since Christmas Eve and Christmas Day are both included in this spread I made matching journal spots using the For the Record Journaling Tags as a base. The simple design of these tags just invites a party of stamping, and I had practically every stamp I own on my desk already, so I just filled in the spaces provided. As a process, it doesn’t get much easier than this, but it sure makes a big impact. You could truly use these tags on every spread and it would look different each time.

As we head into the new year, consider this (yet another) reminder from me that you can totally incorporate newer products into older pages. Whether you are starting fresh projects or revisiting old ones, I can’t wait to see what you all come up with in 2022. Make sure to share your plans in the Facebook Group or use the #ellesstudio hashtag so the whole community can cheer you on!
