Sensational Stitches with Guest Designer Kat Benjamin

Happy Monday, friends! We are so excited to start off this fresh, new week with our new September guest designer, Kat Benjamin! Check out Kat’s Instagram feed and you’ll see that her designs are nothing short of FUN—full of color and eye-popping designs! Her first project created using our September kit and add-ons is no exception, and we think you’ll love how she’s used one of our new stamps in such an amazing way! Let’s take a look!

Hi everyone! It’s Kat here and I am so excited to be the guest designer this month! A big thank you to Elle and Meghann for having me!

For my first project, I thought it would be best to let the amazing Home Sewn Stitches Stamp shine! When I first saw them in my box, I knew I wanted to do a rainbow-like background with them and once I saw all the vibrant autumn colors in this month’s releases, my idea fell into place.

I began by stamping along the right side of my page using Distress Oxides that I thought matched well with this month’s release items. I used Ripe Persimmon, Wild Honey, Lucky Clover, Peacock Feathers, Prize Ribbon and Black Soot. Once I had my background created, I adhered my pictures in a vertical strip and embellished with a variety of items that matched the background. There were so many perfect options from Autumn Puffy Hearts, to Autumn Die Cuts, to Banner Stickers. My embellishment-loving heart was certainly happy!

I finished off my page by ripping off a portion of the left side of my cardstock and backing with the striped paper from the Thankful Paper Stack. I use this technique on most of my layouts and I really like the way it looks. I also used the outline Large Jane Alphabet Stamp to add “The Farm” for my title, then added a small amount of journaling on one of the September 2021 Labels.

This layout actually came together really quickly once my stamping was complete.  Admittedly, that part did take me a little while, but I think it was worth the time! I really love a good rainbow!

Are you loving the Home Sewn Stitches Stamp as much as I am? I can’t wait to see what everyone creates with them!

Hi!  My name is Kat and I’m so excited to be joining you this month.  I am a wife to Eric and a Mama to Piper (the girl) and Moose (the dog).  We are lucky to be living in sunny Southern California right now, so we spend our weekends playing on the beach or going on small adventures around our town.  I work full-time, but try to get my scrappy time whenever I can, as my “paper therapy” is very important!  I also try to work out everyday and read at least a few books each month.  My scrap style is pretty simple, but I try to make it as colorful as possible.

We are so excited about what Kat created using our new Home Sewn Stitches Stamp! Until you can see what Kat creates for us next, follow her on Instagram and her blog to see more of her beautiful creations, and find our Home Sewn Stitches Stamp in the shop only while supplies last!
