Our September release is only a day away, and you may feel guilty about the leftovers sitting on your desk from your August kit. One solution: look for inspiration to help you create! That’s what Melissa Mann did with the layout that she’s sharing with us today—and she looked no further than our design team to help motivate her to create! Let’s take a look at her project!
Hello! This is Melissa with you today and I have a new project that I created using the leftover bits and pieces from my August 2020 Kit and other products from the August release. One of my go-to ways to find some mojo and inspiration when I’m trying to put together a new project is to browse some of my favorite scrappers online. I was seriously lacking the inspiration and motivation I needed when I was trying to put together this layout and started to look through some of the previous projects from my fellow design team members at Elle’s Studio. I’m a huge fan of Daniela and I love how she seems to effortlessly combine so many different elements in either a vertical or horizontal design on her pages. One of my favorite projects that she created is a Halloween layout that she put together last year:
And here’s a look at what I created based off of it:
Supplies | August 2020 Kit, August Print and Cut Labels, A New Day Stickers, Chipboard Tags, So Cool Puffy Stickers, Wood Veneer Circles, Summer Fun 6 x 8.5 Inch Paper Stack, Shine Brighter Stamp, List Stamp
One of the reasons I’m always drawn to Daniela’s projects is because of how she layers lots of things together, and I am a HUGE fan of layers! I knew I wanted to lay down some watercolor paint and stamping on my white cardstock base before I started building my layout on top.
I traced a big circle in pencil on the right hand side of my cardstock and used a few different color watercolors around that circle. Then, I stamped using the List Stamp in black ink over top of the water color paint. I used the “Happiness Is” sentiment from the List Stamp in light gray and stamped that repeatedly around on the black stamped lines. After I spattered some mist around, I decided to tap an old paper towel roll in light pink paint, using it to stamped circles around the page.
While letting the paint dry on my paper, I cut out two large circles from the Summer Fun Paper Stack and two larger vellum circles as well. I layered all of these together and stitched them down with my sewing machine.
From this point, I layered more patterned paper from the Summer Fun Paper Stack, topping these layers with a black and white photo of my niece. Then it was time to layer all the stickers, chipboard, and Wood Veneer Circles around my layout! The So Cool Puffy Stickers and the A New Day Stickers worked beautifully to embellish my layout!
I was super pleased with the way my project turned out and it was all inspired by Daniela’s beautiful Halloween project!
Thanks for stopping by and taking a peek at my project today!
