Simple and Sweet Cards with Candace Perkins

If you love sending handmade cards, a new year is a great time to take a look at your card stash and decide what cards you need to create more of! Our January kit and add-ons include so many products that are perfect for making creative, custom handmade greetings, and design team member Candace Perkins is sharing three fun, sweet and simple designs with us today that we know you will want to re-create! Let’s take a look:

Hello friends!  It’s Candace, and I’m happy to be here with you to share some quick and easy Valentine’s Day cards created using goodies from the latest products included in the January extras. Last year I didn’t make many cards so I made a pretty big dent in my card stash. Now my stash is really hurting for some ready-made cards for all types of occasions.

One of my favorite extras this month is the new  Love Is 6 x 8.5 Paper Stack. I always adore the paper Elle creates because it is useful for so many different projects, and on today’s, I used the paper pad to create three fun Valentine’s Day cards.

Here is a look at the cards!

Card #1: Super Simple!  Let the paper do the talking!

For this card I let the patterned paper do the talking. I cut the striped paper to 3″ x 3″ and used the pattern as a guide for the letter stickers. Simple and dimensional. Take a look at the papers in your collection and let them inspire you to create a simple card!

Card #2: Repeated Stamping!

On my second card, I used the new Love You Lots Stamp as inspiration and created a repeated stamped pattern on the base using the sketchy heart. Next, using the hearts from the You Are Loved Die Cuts, I stitched down the center or side of the hearts to create interest and dimension. After stitching, I pulled on the edges of the hearts to make them pop! Lastly, I added a mixed sentiment by using a combination of Wood Veneer Numbers and the “Happy Love Day!” phrase from the I Adore You Stickers. What stamps can you use to create a repeated stamp pattern on your cards?

Card #3: Patterns with Paper & Stitching

The last card was created by cutting 1/2 inch strips of paper and combining them on the card base to create a custom striped pattern.  Keeping the lines simple and clean, I stitched down the center of the paper strips.  To create an embellishment cluster, I combined an “XO” I Adore You Sticker, a bundle of thread and puffy heart sticker from the La La Love You Puffy Stickers. Try cutting up paper in your stash and combine the pattern with a bit of stitching: What will you create?

Thanks for stopping by!  I hope this inspired you to create some fun and easy cards to add to your card stash! Have a beautiful day!
