A really special, proud moment deserves an equally special layout, and we think that design team member Daniela achieved that by using a big shape on her background, cut with the July 2019 Digital Cut File! Let’s hear a bit more about the story behind her page, and check out her beautiful work!
Hi friends! It’s Daniela here and I can’t wait to show you the layout I created using the July 2019 Digital Cut File! We went on a trip a couple of weeks ago, staying near a park with a digital soccer board. My son is really into soccer—he plays every day and has been on the local soccer team since his fourth birthday. There were only older boys on the soccer court when we first got there. Still, they let my son join in, but it was obvious that they thought that he was easy prey. After his first moves, the older boys went totally crazy about the little guy scoring all the points and they invited him to join their game every day. They even gave him nicknames and made him team captain. I guess I don’t have to tell you how proud he was: a little boy of seven playing soccer with teens! I wanted to document his soccer skills, so the star cut file was perfect for my needs. So here it comes: a layout highlighting my soccer star:
Supplies | July 2019 Digital Cut File, Shine Die Cuts, You Are My Sunshine Stamp, Magical Memories Journaling Tags, Magical Memories 6 x 6 Paper Stack, Noteworthy Bits and Pieces, Noteworthy 12 x 12 Paper Collection
I’m totally into black and white pictures right now and I love to combine these with fresh colors. That’s why I cut four stars in turquoise and yellow from the Noteworthy 12 x 12 Paper Collection and the Magical Memories 6 x 6 Paper Stack in different sizes. I layered these cut stars and used them as a frame for my picture. The star builds a cool display and the die cut word “awesome” in combination with “yes” from the Shine Die Cuts is placed as a title on one side of the star. I also added the journaling there, creating a cluster.
The big star cut from the July 2019 Digital Cut File framing the picture is the main element on the page, but of course I wanted to add some details to make it more interesting. I used color splashes in turquoise, yellow and grey that match the colors of the papers and added a few additional pieces like the tiny stars I also cut from the same papers using the July 2019 Digital Cut File and this little tab from the Noteworthy Bits and Pieces.
The fresh colors of the papers in combination with white cardstock create a bright style. I love how black contrasts on bright layouts, so I used the You Are My Sunshine Stamp around the star to add further details. The dotted border stamp I used on the edges of the cardstock links the cardstock to the background paper.
I hope you like my way of using the July 2019 Digital Cut File as much as I do. Why don’t you do a layout with layered cut file pieces yourself? If you do, don’t forget to share your work on social media using the hashtag #EllesStudio. I can’t wait to see what everyone creates!
Thanks so much for stopping by and have a great day!
