Being inspired by another project can take many forms. From lifting the design, to choosing a similar color scheme, you can be inspired by a small or large part of something and make it your own. That’s what Melissa Mann did today, and she used a shape featured heavily on one of Jennifer McMurtrey‘s layouts to kick off her page. Let’s take a look!
Hello and happy-last-day-of-July! This is Melissa here with you all. I’m sharing a layout that was heavily inspired by this fabulous layout originally created by Jennifer McMurtrey:
As soon as I saw her layout with the star banner sprinkled across the layout, I knew I was going to have to create a project that featured lots of stars!
Supplies | July 2019 Kit, July 2019 Digital Cut File, July Labels, 4th of July Puffy Stickers, Sunshine 6 x 6 Paper Stack, You Are My Sunshine Stamp, Large Jane Alphabet Stamp — Solid, Large Jane Alphabet Metal Die, Noteworthy 12 x 12 Paper Collection
I started my layout by stamping a ton of red and blue stars using the You Are My Sunshine Stamp across the kraft cardstock. Once I did this, I splattered some ink around and adhered vellum, a 4″ x 6″ journaling card from the July 2019 Kit and my three small photos across the middle of the layout. Once these elements were adhered, I started tucking in the paper stars, cut using the July 2019 Digital Cut File, around the layout and adhering them down.
I created my title “PLAY BALL” using the Large Jane Alphabet Stamp and Metal Dies and placed it along the top edge of my photos. I used the 4th of July Puffy Stickers and die cuts from the July 2019 Kit to further embellish my layout.
How have you used your Elle’s Studio July Kit and extras? There’s still time to get something created before the August kit is released! If you do, make sure to share your project with us in our Elle’s Studio Facebook Group!
