Punching Out Fun with Ashley Laura

Our July reveal is tomorrow, but have you had a chance to use all of the last bits and pieces from your June kit and add-ons? Don’t fret! Just grab a few punches and get to work with the inspiration that design team member Ashley is sharing with us today!

Hey everyone! It’s Ashley here with fun project focusing on using up those scraps from your June kit and extras. One of my go-to ideas for using up scraps is pulling out my tools! I decided to create a 12″ x 12″ layout, and mainly focus on using some of my favorite punches.

You may love the patterns and color schemes of the pocket tags included in the monthly kits, but sometimes we have an overflow after we’ve completed our pocket projects. I love to cut these up and use them in unconventional ways. This “Soak Up the Sun” 4″ x 6″ tag from the June Kit was the perfect card to punch out a square to have my photo peeking through!

I also love to cut pieces from tags that could serve as an anchor for journaling. The “summer playlist” 3″ x 4″ tag included several journaling spots to create a list. I simply typed on the orange labels and cut them out to add the details of this day around my layout.

One of my favorite tools is the circle punch. Oh my beloved! They’ve been around for a while, but for me, they’ll never get old. I used this punch on several patterns from the Magical Memories 6 x 6 Paper Stack and tags in the June Kit to add some fun little movement around the page. I also cut a few smaller icons from the tags to tuck around the larger circles.

For those of you who have tons of journaling tags and patterned papers and you’re unsure of how to use them, go ahead and get out those forgotten tools to create something new!
