Prepping Your Document December Project: Week Two

How about some more ideas and inspiration on how to set up a successful Document December project? Today we have Suzanna Stein, Melissa Mann and Daniela to share how they’re prepping their project with you!

Suzanna | December is one of my favorite times of the year, especially when it comes to documenting memories! Each November I usually slowly start prepping pages in my December album. The entire holiday season is so busy, I like to have a little prep work done to avoid feeling totally overwhelmed when December rolls around.

This year I’m using a 4×8” album, where I’ll add pocket pages, loose elements, and fun interactive pieces to create a “junk journal” feeling. I got my cover page done early so I can get straight into documenting when I’m ready. I usually just add the year and some festive clusters that make me smile whenever I open my album. I also prepped a few miscellaneous pages to have on-hand. These fill-in-the-blank type pages are great for days when nothing notable happened, you don’t have a lot of time, or you need a little creative jump-start. The holidays have a way of being wonderful, but also depleting in so many ways. Having pre-made pages you can document your memories on is a great starting point in your December documenting prep!

Melissa
| Good morning, y’all! This is Melissa, and I’m so excited to be sharing the first couple of pages in my Document December album! I created my cover page, my intention page, and slipped a couple of journaling cards that I know I want to use for my first spread in my album.

I created my cover page by using one of the 6″ x 8″ patterned papers in the kit and smeared a little green acrylic paint on the middle and then layering a stitched piece of vellum to that. I adhered the Merry Christmas Acrylic to the vellum and then used one of the sentiment puffy stickers below it. Super simple! I typed up my intention page on a piece of vellum and stamped a small title above it using the Oh What Fun Stamp.

I’m keeping all of my kit products in a small gray tray that I picked up at Target a few years back. It’s perfect for keeping all the bits and pieces in one place as I work on my projects over the next couple of months! I can’t wait to see what you are going to create with us!

Daniela | I completed my last December Daily in 2013 and I love flipping through the pages. The memories documented in this album are more vivid than those of the other years, so I’m really looking forward to documenting December 2018 with the Document December 2018 Kit! Since December always is such a busy month, I want to keep it simple. Documenting this time should be fun and easy, so I decided to use the kit to fill different types of 6″ x 8″ pockets and pick one memory each day to document.

I’ve already created my starter page with lots of details. This first page fills out one of the big 6″ x 8″ pockets.

I really like the colors and the shiny details included in the kit and I can’t wait to start filling my pockets. The plan is to use the kids’ daily TV time—30 minutes—to document the day. Those pockets won’t be filled with too many details, but I plan to finish my album by the first week of January!

Have fun documenting your precious memories. Maybe today is the day to start your own DD?!
