Colorful Columns + Process Video with Heather Leopard

We love it when a particular product inspires an amazing layout design, and today we have design team member Heather Leopard here to “WOW” us with her latest scrapbook layout, which started with the Vellum Sentiments. Let’s see what she created, and be sure to watch her process video below!

Hi friends! It’s Heather Leopard here, feeling like I struck gold with this rainbow-inspired layout using the April 2018 Kit, add-ons and the Noteworthy collection.

This layout was inspired by the colorful Vellum Sentiments. I played around with placing them in a line on the side and in a random pattern around the paper but once I started looking at the photos I wanted to use, the design just fell into place. The circles measure 2.25″ x 2.25″ so I decided to cut strips of color-coordinated patterned paper from the Noteworthy 6″ x 6″ Paper Stack and Noteworthy 12×12 Paper Collection in 2″ x 11″ strips, making it look like the color was dripping out of the vellum circles, kind of similar to art you sometimes see made with crayon drippings. That was not my plan but this reminds me of that.

Prior to adhering the paper strips, I adding fun stitched patterns. Each stitched pattern follows the design in the paper, from connecting dots in the Noteworthy Puffy Stickers  to “+” signs to circles.

Next, I printed 8 photos measuring 2″ x 3″. Yep, 8 photos! I spaced them out in a pattern with 3 across the top and bottom and 2 in the middle. I used the paper strips as my guide to align the photos, which made it easy-peasy.

To finish it off, I added embellishments in the same color as the patterned paper, from the Banner Stickers, Adventure Puffy StickersAcrylic StarsNoteworthy Bits and Pieces, Noteworthy Puffy Stickers and Noteworthy Epoxy Stickers, tucking some behind and over photos and popping others up to add dimension. Color-blocking embellishments in their matching column gave this page cohesive look.

I also created a process video for this layout, so be sure to watch to see how it all came together!
