The Perfect Mix of Pockets with Andrea Gray

We love mixing full pages with pockets to document memories, and today Andrea Gray is here to show us just how successful these pairings can be, using the new items in the shop for February. We love her clean, masculine color scheme, and her awesome use of embellishment. Let’s see what she documented this month!

Hey friends! I hope you are all enjoying the February kit and extras by now!! I am loving all of the bright and rich colors! Today I am sharing a multi-page 6″ x 8″ project using anything in the kit that was royal blue, black or grey!

The first page is a full photo that I titled using the White Puffy Alphabet Stickers and a cute puffy heart from the Shapes and Dots Puffy Stickers. It serves as an intro page to the next spread in the story. The two main pages are a combination of a full 6″ x 8″ layout and an adjoining pocket page about us going to see my oldest son at work! I had two 3″ x 4″ photos so I used two light tags to keep the aesthetic clean and bright. I also wanted to include the receipt, so I used a 4″ x 6″ tag from the All the Details Journaling Tags against the edge and glued a piece of vellum to the border.

I really wanted to use as many of the embellishments as I could, and my go-to design for that is a grid/collage style. Once I had the pockets in place I just fit the rest of the pieces on like a puzzle. I love sticking down all the pieces and layering the colors around! The labels from the February Blank Label Stickers were perfect for layering with a puffy heart, and the “yes, please” puffy circle from the Foodie Puffy Stickers was perfect for this spread!

In the bottom corner, the cute The Best Banner Stickers and puffy heart stickers from the Shapes and Dots Puffy Stickers framed the wood veneer ampersand perfectly.   After all of the pieces were glued down and journaling was complete, I pulled out my water colors and splattered some black and royal blue paint down!

The pockets on the opposite side got a similar treatment. This paper from the XOXO 6″ x 6″ Paper Stack got some paint platters, too, and a simple puffy heart embellishment.

The icon journaling tag from the February 2018 Kit was the perfect place to add the “so cool” circle from the Icon Stamp, and even though I didn’t center it perfectly, it still came out cute! This card also got a little love in the label department and the silverware one was perfect—even though we ate pizza!

The final little scribbles and date stamp finished it off! Thank you so much for being here! See you next month!
