Stretching Your Supplies with Jen Schow

There are so many different ways to make Elle’s Studio products work for your layouts and pocket pages, and today Jen Schow is with us to share a few of her favorite “stretch your supplies” tricks, with a process video! Let’s see what she created.

Hey there! It’s Jen and today I want to show you a few ways that you can really stretch your supplies and make things work for you. I used the September 2017 Kit along with the 6″ x 6″ Paper Stack from the new Family Fun collection to create this layout.

One of my favorite things to do is cut the papers from the Family Fun 6″ x 6″ Paper Stack to make it look like they span the entire layout. By simply cutting your papers in half, lining them up, and layering them behind other papers, you can make it look like you have a full 12” strip of paper if you want to, like I did with the blue plaid and black text papers!

The second way I stretched my supplies was by using leftovers. For my title, I decided to fussy cut the words “So Proud of You!” out of one of the 3″ x 4″ journaling tags included in the September 2017 Kit. As I was creating my layout, I realized I would need another pop of yellow and decided to use the top and bottom of the card on the left and right hand sides of photo, stretching it in the same way I did with the 6″ x 6″ papers. This is something I actually do a lot!

The third thing I did wasn’t actually stretching my supplies, at least not in the way that you make things last longer. But I did make what I had work for what I needed and I think that’s important too! I wasn’t sure how to make my journaling fit the space I needed and I really wanted to use the “All the Details” journaling tag from the September 2017 Kit. It had a scalloped border beneath it that wasn’t quite right with the colors I was using, so I cut it off. Then I decided to take another card with lines on it, adhere it to the right of the phrase, and voila! I had a journaling spot that fit the space I needed!

What ways have you made your supplies work for you? I hope that you’ll give some of these ideas a try! If you want to see the whole thing come together, watch the process video below.
