Breaking the Rules with Alissa Fast

Today we’re sharing a fun page from Alissa Fast in which she challenges us to break all of the “rules” of pocket page layouts, and add our embellishment to the outside of the pocket! Let’s take a look at what she’s created.

Good Morning, all! Alissa here today with a 6″ x 8″ pocket page layout using the January 2017 Exclusive Kit + extras. I love pocket pages and Elle’s products are perfect for all the little pockets. This time around I did something a little different. I added a lot of the elements to the outside of the pockets. Who said you have to put everything inside the page protector?

Adhering and stapling the element to the outside of the page helps to avoid the dreaded page pucker. How awesome are the Puffy Heart Stickers? They are totally my favorite product this year thus far.

I even ignored the pocket sizes and put a 4″ x 6″ tag in a 4″ x 4″ pocket and the left side of the tag in a 2″ x 4″ pocket. All the stickers from the Valentine Banner Stickers and stapled die cuts from the January Kit are on the outside of the pages, too.

Here’s a close up of the cute die cut labels from the January Kit layered over each other and stapled to the outside of the page.

Now, what will I do with the back side since I’ve stapled all the pockets closed? No problem, I’ll adhere elements, photos and journal cards on the outside of the entire page. Fun stuff, right?

Breaking the rules is what I do.

Now it’s your turn. Get those pocket pages out and add fun stuff to the outside of the pockets and see what greatness you end up with. Be sure to tag your projects using the hashtag #ellesstudio I know you will love it!

Have a great day!
