An Artistic Layout with Jill Sprott

Jill Sprott’s artistic style always has me itching to get creative with my layouts. Today she’s taken her love of art and scrapbooking, combining them to create a colorful layout which makes the Malia Alphabet Stamp the star in one of her favorite quotes. Let’s take a look!

I make no apologies for loving the Elle’s Studio Malia alphabet stamps as much as I do. When I saw the original uppercase Malia Alphabet Stamp, I fell hard, and when the Malia Lowercase Alphabet Stamp came along shortly thereafter, I was a goner. These stamps are so easy to love — they have personality, enlivening any page on which they appear. Case in point:

This layout, documenting a recent visit to the Honolulu Museum of Art, includes a series of images taken that day. Instead of a traditional “who-what-when-where” approach to the journaling, however, I found a quote that resonated with me, and let the stamps do the talking.

When it came to the stamping, I dipped into my arsenal of colored inks, and incorporated multiple hues drawn from the photos, emphasizing key words using the Malia Alphabet Stamp. The colorful striped heart from the January 2017 Exclusive Kit fit in perfectly next to the colorful text, tucked behind one of my photos.

Given the subject matter, I added my own artistic touches to the layout, including a painted background and messy (read “creative”) stitching around the page. The Dated Stamp was perfect for adding the date to this memory.

All in all, this layout is a testament to everything that I love about art, about scrapbooking, and about stamping!
