Hello there! It’s Meghann with you today to share a new layout I created using the December exclusive kit! The two layouts I created in the gallery this month focus on stories from the past- a story from Christmas Day 2014, and a wrap-up of the best moments of 2015. The layout I have to share with you today is one that focuses on the future, and my goals for 2016. What better way to start off a new year than to put your goals down on paper and make yourself accountable!?
“2016 Goals” supplies: December exclusive kit, December digital cut files, Love & Thanks stamp, white acrylic stars, Thankful collection paper pack, Joyful collection paper pack, Tis the Season Stamp.
The fantastic “2016 goals” tag in the kit was my main inspiration for this layout! I love when the ES tags in the kit can spark my creativity! To add typed writing to my tag, I first scanned in the tag on my scanner, opened the file in Photoshop & added my text in a separate layer on top. Next, I deleted the scanned image layer, and printed the text on its own. After that, I adhered my tag to the top of the printed text and then ran it through the printer again.
From there, I began to create a grid, using two other 3” x 4” tags, and a 3” x 4” photo. The 2016 tag was perfect for the layout, but to add more contrast, I decided to cut out the inside of the numbers and back the tag with black cardstock.
To offset the contrast in that tag, I decided to add a die-cut star from the December cut file, first cut from the Thankful collection Leaves paper then again slightly larger in black cardstock. Doing this made my grid much more balanced. I still felt that my layout needed more contrast and something else other than the grid, so I decided to stamp “goals” repeatedly in a border along the left side of the grid with the Love & Thanks stamp set, breaking it up slightly to stamp “2016” from the Tis the Season stamp set in grey.
To finish off my layout, I added some acrylic stars and ink spatters in pink, teal and black. I stamped “important” from the Love & Thanks stamp set on a small tag, tucking it in at the top, and layered the star tag and the “hello new year” tag at the base of the layout. With black thread, I sewed through both.
I really hope that I stick to my goals in the upcoming year! This layout may be one to hang on the wall, to remind myself of my goals instead of putting it in a layout. How will you use the goals tag this month?
