Today’s post features Lisa Dickinson’s gorgeous Joy layout! We love the quilt like layers with stitching, and they way she used our November cut file! Here’s what Lisa has to say:

Dickinson_Joy1Handmade items are such big part of my holiday memories! From Grandma’s fudge to construction paper ornaments to lovingly knit scarves & mittens, I love the sentiment behind a handmade project. So when I was documenting our girls’ day out to see the Nutcracker ballet, I took my inspiration from a patchwork quilt, and created a background reminiscent of this handmade craft.

Using several of the Joyful patterned papers, I cut out 2-inch squares to create a background for my page. On the gray and aqua squares, I added stamped snowflakes (from the Joyful set) in coordinating ink colors. On a few of the squares, I added tags and die cuts from the Joyful Bits & Pieces set. Finally, around each square, I machine-stitched a white border and slightly distressed the edges for a bit of texture.

Once I had arranged and adhered my squares, I added a big, bold title – the word “JOY” in the November Digital Cut Files, cut from white card stock. Then I added my journaling strips and a few small rhinestones for the finishing sparkle. I love that my scrapbook page not only documents a special memory, but also my love of all things homemade!
