PROJECT LIFE

Today I am sharing a few tips on how to document travel in your pocket styled pages.Image 7

This is the week of July 28-August 3, and this is the week my whole family enjoyed an Alaskan cruise together.  When we compile all of the photos together, we likely have over 3,000 photos of the entire trip!!   So how do you choose just a few photos and stories to highlight?Image 2

First of all, when creating this spread, I knew that my plan to create a separate album for this trip in order to document MANY stories and photos.   Knowing that, it took the pressure off to tell all my stories!

So now I could choose a few photos that went together, and some items that would look neat in my album.   As I was looking through items I saved from the trip, I noticed a brochure of a train ride we took through the mountains.  I liked the colors of the map so I decided to include it.

I chose two of my favorite photos to include in an insert of the 12×12 spread.  This glacier photo, and the fireworks photo with the silhouette of my dad and son is on the opposite side.   I enlarged these photos to 12×12 and trimmed them to fit the six inch width.

One thing I struggled with was if I should include the photo the cruise ship took of the whole family.   It didn’t really match the theme I was going for, so I decided to leave it out and include that particular photo with all of is in the travel album.   I just made sure there everyone in the family was included in at least one photo– and I felt like that was perfect.
