Today we get to share with you our design team member, Valerie Bishop’s, creative space! She was so kind to give us a full tour, let’s take a peek and see what she has to say about her space, too!
Valerie says: “First, I have a tall table so that I can stand – I don’t like sitting and creating, I like walking around. I also like having everything in front of me, so a lot of my embellishments, tools, and supplies are all sitting on my table so they are right at my fingertips and I can remember to use them up. I like to store my items in unusual little containers. I have a thing for small wooden boxes and I have several filled with items….”
“I found an old cutlery box at an antique store with beautiful red graphics that I store my Letterpress stuff in, an old wooden toolbox with lots of storage space filled to the brim, and a small wooden box that I store my smaller Elle’s Studio bits and pieces in.”
“I love containers with little compartments to store and separate all my little bits and pieces so that I can see them to use when I am creating. I find if I can’t see my things, then I forget to use them, or it takes me an hour to find that little piece that would be just perfect. My favorite places to look for containers are thrift store, flea markets and antique stores. I try not to spend more than $5 on a piece.”
“I keep all of my Elle’s Studio products on a little wooden table right next to my work table so I can grab it any time when I am working on design team projects. I have most of the embellishments stored in a couple of metal containers with the little bits in the wooden box. I keep all of my papers in a plastic box to protect them as my scraproom is my sunroom in my house and there are 3 walls of windows. I don’t want the papers to get faded by the sun!”
“I got these two spinning racks at Harbor Freight – they were black and I spray painted them. I can store so much stuff on these and the colors and products on them just make me so happy to look at!”
“I got this pair of metal file racks at a flea market for $10! They were an ugly brown color, but I painted them inside and out and use them to file miscellaneous items that I don’t use very often.”
We love your space, Valerie! Thank you so much for sharing it with us today!
