DIY: Vintage Message Board Frame by Valerie Allen

We have an awesome tutorial for you today, brought to you by our design team member Valerie Allen! And, it looks like the perfect weekend project! Let’s get started!
“I had been wanting to create an altered frame for quite a while, and came upon the perfect frame at a second hand store!” Valerie said, and this is what it looked like when she bought it!

She used a gloss spray paint to cover the frame and says that it did take quite a few coats to get the dark shiny look that was needed. The wire that she used for the center of the frame was located beside the chicken wire at the hardware store and called Hardware Cloth.

You’ll want to attach the Hardware Cloth to your newly painted frame, on the back side. She suggests wearing gloves and using some good wire cutters when trimming the Hardware Cloth down. You’ll want to attach the Hardware Cloth to the frame with a staple gun.

Then, her husband came up with the brilliant idea of covering back of the frame and exposed wire ends with tape! Then it won’t scratch your walls or poke your fingers when you hang it! And, you’ll never see it because it’s on the back 😉 Love this!!

All that’s left to do is to hang your frame and attach little tags and messages to it with clothes pins or other clips! Love how she added the butterflies and little pinwheel.

Thanks so much for inspiring us with this awesome DIY project today, Valerie! And, happy weekend, everyone!
