Stamping with our Daily Details Stamp Set!

The other day I was using our Daily Details stamp set that we released a couple months ago, and realized we haven’t shown you a really fun use for the bottom stamps, yet! That fun shape in the bottom left side was originally meant for layering with all those phrases and words around it! Here’s a peek at what you can make with it when you layer it:

First grab a piece of scrap paper and stamp the shape.

Then, grab a couple of the phrases and stamp those on top of the shape:

Or you could even write in your own phrases! Then, cut them out and glue or staple them on to either your layouts or 3 x 4 tags for Project Life and you have your very own tabs!

Here’s a peek at two ways you could attach them:

Isn’t that fun? There’s so many possibilities with this stamp set!

thursday sketch

Hello there and welcome back! Today’s sketch was inspired by one of our awesome members, ashleyhorton1675. Her sweet dreams layout is full of details and colors and I couldn’t resist making a sketch from it ðŸ™‚

Two of our DT members played along this week and this is what they created:

Wendy’s thoughts: I really love the triangle graphics in the sketch and played on this with a triangle template mask and spray misting. At the top of the sketch for the dotted paper graphic, I instantly knew I wanted to use the beautiful exclusive edition vellum from Elle’s Studio. The wide variety of tabbed cards and inserts in the Elle’s Studio collections are perfect for layering behind photos. Layering banners, circle, and flags onto pop dots adds dimension and interest to your project.

and Sarah’s thoughts: I had a cut file that looked like the triangle background so I knew I had to use that as the base. To add a little interest to it, I used 2 different sized square photos at an angle. I used a tab card above one of the photos and kept the title area in the same spot. I absolutely love the simplicity!!

Project Life

This week’s Project Life covers the week of March 25-31.

This week a snow storm occurred, my daughter had her Kindergarten interview, and it was Easter!

I loved using Elle’s Limited Edition Serendipity Vellum and Tags for this layout.  It was perfect for my Easter/ (snowy) spring theme.

On the left side I focused on the snow storm, and my daughter’s Kindergarten interview.

This was the perfect week to add Easter artwork.   I love adding inserts containing artwork from my children.

I added a few fun elements on the right side of the page.  My mom bought my kids two big Easter cookies from a local bakery on Easter weekend.  Inside the cookies were plastic bunnies.  I saved them and included the pink one in one pocket of this week’s spread.   Also, I included a pocket full of “Easter basket grass”.  I have so many memories of the green Easter basket grass from when I was growing up.  While I was cleaning up the “basket mess” this year, I was reminiscing on this fact, and thought it would be a wonderful thing to include in my album.   I stitched the top of the pocket so that the grass was contained.

We want to feature your Project Life album!  During the last week of each month we will be featuring a couple Project Life spreads that caught our eye in the Member Gallery.  If your spread is featured we will be sending you a $5 gift card to use in our store.   Good Luck!

sketch thursday 04.11

Etch a sketch, it’s Thursday! Ha. Inspired by Jenni’s This is a day to Celebratetoday’s sketch has a little bit of everything… layering, circles, chevrons, doilies…

On my layout, I used the main sketch design- the large rectangle background, doilies and layered circles. I cut out some petals (or drops, as I translated them for my layout), layered them on top of the existing ones, sew them in the middle, then pop them up a bit for some dimension.

I hope you like this sketch. There’s lots to be inspired by and I can’t wait to see what you create! Don’t forget to post a link to your projects here for a chance to win a $10 gift certificate to the ES store.

I was amazed by all the wonderful projects you guys created with last week’s sketch. Wow! Thank you all so much for playing along!! 🙂 The randomly selected winner is… Melissa Stinson.

fun with cards: vellum

Hey everyone! I hope you are having a great week so far. Today’s fun with cards it’s all about the new (limited edition!!) Serendipity vellum. This is a brand new item (did i mention limited edition? :)) and it already moved way up my favorites list. I LOVE it.
lucky stars:  on this card I punched several mini stars from different patterns and arranged them around the stamped sentiment. To make the vellum pop a little I inked the edges with complimenting colors. Finally, I  added a few buttons and wood veneer stars to give a little dimension to the card.

happy spring: this card was fun! I used the 4×6 Happy Spring 2013 piece of vellum. I cut out the banner to use as my sentiment, then stamped and embossed a flower on the solid (clear) piece. I then used a couple of square punches to create mini polaroid frames.

feel better soon: On this card, I put the vellum to the test. I cut out the umbrella with the Silhouette and it worked beautifully (notice the perfectly cut slits). To give the impression of rain, I embossed the card with dots, then added a few random rhinestones.

Project Life

This week’s Project Life covers the week of March 18-24.

This was SICK WEEK in our household.  Three of us were down with strep throat this week.   I was one of the sickies early in the week.  It provided an opportunity to realize how thankful I am for family members and friends who helped me fulfill my role while I was down for the count.

I was not looking forward to documenting this week because I was anticipating it would be a total loss. Documenting was the last thing on my mind this week.   However, toward the end of the week we were all feeling better and had some fun activities.

As I began creating this week’s spread I was surprised at how much I was able to document – considering there was a lack of photos and interesting stories.   I was able to document quotes, highlight friendships, hobbies, and a big event at Todd’s work.   Sometimes if I have an over-abundance of “kid photos” these stories might get overlooked.   I am more conscious recently to document these types of stories.

I included an insert to highlight our weekend.   Since I live in Indiana, we get really excited about the Final Four/ March Madness NCAA basketball.  Our family business sponsored a huge event for the kick off of March Madness.

The backside of the insert covers the remainder of the weekend (in which my son wanted to watch basketball the whole weekend:).

For the final page of the spread I took a photo of all of our prescriptions and titled it “This sums up our week”.

Even though it’s simple and I didn’t think there would be much to add, I enjoyed the outcome of this week’s layout.  Sometimes our weekly circumstances allow us to think outside of the box in how we document!

We want to feature your Project Life album!  During the last week of each month we will be featuring a couple Project Life spreads that caught our eye in the Member Gallery.  If your spread is featured we will be sending you a $5 gift card to use in our store.   Good Luck!
