Thank You Card by Lisa Dickinson

Today we are sharing this cute “Thank You” card that Lisa made with a mix of our Cienna collection, March kit, Always and Forever stamp and Key to my Heart wood veneers!

Here’s what Lisa has to say: “While I love a good striped paper, sometimes a design calls for a bit more interest! I used the striped portion of the new Cienna paper, Lots of Love, to create a herringbone pattern on the bottom half of my card. I simply cut apart the colored stripes, and then snipped them into 1-inch sections. I adhered them in a stepped pattern until I’d covered the lower portion of the card.”

“On the top half, I cut the banners out of a 4×6 tag and stamped them with the hearts from the Always & Forever set. Over the top, I layered a wood heart and a “thank you” tag to complete the card.”

Projects featuring our Cienna Collection

Today we are highlighting our new collection, Cienna, with two more projects from our design team! We love seeing this new collection in action and how each design team member has used it so far! If you missed last week’s post, make sure you check it out here.

First up today is this beautiful layout from Stephanie:
Stephanie says “I can’t tell you guys how much I love the new Cienna collection, the colors, the patterns, everything is perfect! I was really drawn to the Patchwork paper and knew that I was going to use it for sure on my very first project. ”

“I ended up cutting down a few of the strips into little rectangles and lining them all up to make my background. After I got that done the layout just fell together so easily. I added a journaling tag and some of the paper pieces and I was done! I’m so excited to use this collection again, I hope you guys like it as much as I do.”

Next up is Kay and she is sharing a fun layout, too:Kay says “I was inspired by a sketch from Debbie Hodge for this layout. I love the grid pattern because it’s easy for me to embellish each square, rather than the whole layout.”

“I am always finding selfies on my photo stream of my youngest, and because these are the only photos she doesn’t fight me on, I use them!”

Projects featuring our Cienna Collection

Today we are highlighting our new collection, Cienna, with projects from our design team! Cienna has a special place in my heart – I’ve named it after my niece and used colors and shapes that were inspired by her! This collection is full of pastel colors, flowers, and even features fun hand-written script written just for us by Jen Kinkade!

First up today, we have Danielle sharing this cute card she made:
Danielle says “I fell in love with all of the beautiful patterns in the new Cienna papers, so I wanted to incorporate many of them into a card! I used the “You Are” paper (golden yellow background). A Martha Stewart punch came in handy to make these super quick butterflies!

Tip: turn the punch over to see what part of the paper you are punching to get the exact piece you want.

After attaching them onto my card with a little dot of Glossy Accents, I went over a few with my sewing machine, then I added some die cuts from the Cienna – Bits & Pieces. SUCH a simple and quick card to make if you need a card in a pinch! Fold up the wings for extra dimension.”

Next up we have a layout by Michelle, featuring some beautiful layers:Michelle says “I instantly fell in love with the beautiful patterns and the soft colors in Cienna, so I knew I wanted make a layout that featured as many of them as I could. To do this I simply started cutting paper strips in various sizes and layered them until I came up with an arrangement I liked. Since I wished to keep the papers center stage, I kept my embellishments simple and soft by using a few shapes and a vellum heart. ”

Sketch Thursday

Today’s we have a classic grid sketch inspired by Toni’s New Home layout.

Melissa is joining us today with a fantastic take on the sketch. Check it out!! I always love a good grid based sketch and this was a super easy one to put together! I cut out a bunch of 2×2 inch squares from various pattern papers from the Cienna collection and stitched them all down with my sewing machine. I found a few selfies I had taken last year and converted them to black and white and printed them out and then adhered them to three blocks in my grid. I cut my title out with my Silhouette Cameo on white card stock and stitched it down above the grid. One strip of paper (from the bottom of a 12×12 pattern paper) was stitched down at the top of my layout and two snippets were stitched down underneath in the upper right hand corner. The last thing I did was add the wood veneer and the flair! Simple and easy!

PROJECT LIFE

Today I am sharing the week of January 26-February 1 in my Project Life album.

I don’t know about you, but this has been a really long (and cold) winter for us in the Midwest. I am seriously craving some spring colors to remedy the winter “blahs”. Well Elle’s Studio’s new collection CIENNA is the perfect solution to add soft, yet bright, beautiful colors to your projects!

I used the “B side” of the “Lots of Love” paper in the Cienna Paper Pack for my title pocket. I love how all the colors in those stripes pull the whole spread together. I then used several (almost all) of the Cienna Journaling Tags for the remainder of my journaling spots.

My favorite element of this spread is the vellum ampersand that is included in the Cienna Bits and Pieces pack. I placed it inside the pocket and simply stapled it inside the pocket to secure it. I have a long armed stapler (found at any office supply store) which allows me to staple anywhere on a 12×12 page! It’s one of my most used tools!
