Precious Baby Cards by Danielle

Hello everyone! Today we are sharing these beautiful baby cards Danielle made using the Cienna collection.

Oh So Precious card720withsig Oh So Precious card - detail720withsig

She says: I’ve made two simple cards with the Cienna line, this line is so sweet and perfect for baby cards. On the first one, I loved the patchwork paper and wanted to use it in the background. I didn’t want to cover up too much of the pretty pattern, so I just added a few little layered die cuts from the Cienna Bits and Pieces package and some leaves cut from the Flowers paper. A little piece of twine on the tag and a little bundle of seam binding add a soft feel to the card.

The second card was also made with 3 different papers from the Cienna line– the Hello Beautiful paper, the Flowers paper and the Lots of Love paper. Added a Cienna wood veneer, twine and a few Bits and Pieces. The Sticker is from the Cienna stickers.

Layering papers/die cuts is made easy when you choose large, medium and small patterns in the papers and die cuts you chose to go together on your card! Varying scale will keep the look interesting, and by choosing a line to work with like the Cienna line, the hard work of mixing and matching patterns is already done for you! I hope this inspires you to use more patterned papers on your next card.

Thank you so much, Danielle!

PROJECT LIFE

This week’s Project Life covers the week of March 16-22.IMG_1106I’m taking a step backwards in my album and allowing some extra time to “catch up” from weeks I missed this Spring.    IMG_1091

I used a mixture of March and April’s Monthly Kits along with Cienna Collection to create a spring-themed layout.

IMG_1093

I used the Morning/Afternoon/Evening card found in the April 2015 Kit to highlight our Monday activities (and specific activities of this particular day).  I love the idea of sharing the “daily routine” of any specific day (because each day of the week’s routine might  be totally different), and this is the perfect journaling card to highlight those thoughts.

We had a very busy weekend with many family events so I decided to dedicate half of the spread to documenting our weekend events.   We had bridal showers and bachelor parties and the Cienna Collection was perfect for documenting it all!

Sketch Thursday

EllesStudio-April302015-SketchHappy Thursday, everyone! We thought we would mix things up today and post a fun card sketch to inspire you this week!

Our sketch is based off of Stephanie’s beautiful card, here:EllesStudio-SketchThursday-Card-StephanieStephanie says: “Mother’s Day is right around the corner so when I saw some of the mom themed tags in the printable this month I knew I wanted to make them into a card. I paired it with some of the patterned paper from the Cienna collection and a few other embellishments from my stash to create the card sentiment. I sewed everything down and around the border of the card for some added interest.”

Products used: Cienna Paper Collection, and How Lucky Printables.

Thanks so much for inspiring us today, Stephanie! I love all the fun layers in this card!

Custom watercolored tags for your Project Life album

Tips-29April-allcardsHi! Rachel here today with a super quick project to add some fun watercolor cards to your Project Life pages. I love quick and easy watercoloring and I like to have a stash on hand ready to slip into my pocket pages.

Tips-29April-cards1Using white watercolor paper (I prefer the bright white variety as it matches all the Elle’s Studio products the best), quickly wet a 3″ x 4″ card with a generous amount of water. I found when doing these that the wetter the paper, the better – the watercolor mixed much easier. Next, wet your brush and pick up some vibrant shades of paint – using colors that will suit the style of your own projects. I carefully adhere these to my paper trimmer with washi tape and left them to dry (I wanted to avoid too much paint pulling towards the edges).

Tips-29April_cards2Products used: Cienna Wood Veneers, Happiness Stamp, Bits & Pieces; Shine Happiness Is Stamp; April Exclusive Kit; Letter & Number Stickers – White

Once the cards are dry you have a perfect background to create some fun accent cards. You can leave them blank and use them whenever you need! I chose to embellish them now with some stamping and products from the Cienna line & the April kit – I know all of these will come in handy for a layout soon as they all fit the style of my album. I kept them very simple – the idea for this project was quick & easy filler cards and these were done in a no time at all.

PROJECT LIFE

Today we are sharing two beautiful Project Life Spreads from Jen Chapin and Alissa Fast.  I love how they both used Elle’s Studio products on their smaller scaled Project Life pages!elles PL jen chapin (4)

First we have Jennifer Chapin sharing a beautiful page from her album.  She shares, “I am always trying to mix up the pages in my Project Life album. This week, I decided to go with a 6×12 format and the change was really fun! I mostly used tags and cards from the April exclusive kit, with a few pieces from the Cienna collection.

elles PL jen chapin (1)

I also tried my hand at one of the new Project Life fuse tools and created a diagonal pocket to house some sequins. It is so easy to use and adds such a great touch.

Step-by-Step layout tutorial with Paige Evans

Happy-Moments-by-Paige-EvansPaige is back with another step-by-step tutorial for us! This fun 12 x 12 layout features two banners that go edge-to-edge and hold a ton of tags, embellishments, and special memories!

Here’s how she says this layout came together:
Step-11. Start placing the April kit die cuts and printables in two slight curves across the “B” side of Cienna Flowers paper. Don’t adhere anything down quite yet, just figure out the basic placement.

Step-22. Add a photo to the banner mix, then lightly adhere things in place.

Step-33. Use a sewing machine to straight stitch across the tops of the banners to complete the banner look.

Step-44. Die cut the “Happy Moments” digital cut file from white cardstock then adhere it with foam dots.

Step-55. Use more foam dots underneath the die cuts and banner pieces.

Step-66. The pop dots help elevate the pieces off the page a bit to create dimension and shadows.

Step-77. Write journaling in an empty space with a light gray pen.

3 Favorite Elle’s Studio products: Cienna Happiness Stamp, Lots of Love Wood Veneer, and Cienna Stickers.

Unknown-2What are three products you can’t live without?
1. Journaling cards. They are so great for card fronts, mini-albums, layouts and of course pocket scrapbooking. So many of my projects start with a well designed journaling card as the focal point and inspiration.
2. Hearts. In any form hearts are my go-to embellishment. I like them small, colorful and sticky.
3. Chipboard frames. I have about a million of these and love to make quick cards with them. A frame, a journaling card, some small embellishments and you’re done! Frames are also fabulous for highlighting your journaling on a layout.

UnknownWhere do you scrapbook?
I share an office with my husband in the front room of our home, a room that is supposed to be the formal dining room. It has amazing natural light and is large enough to house my crafting collection. I manage to keep all my tools and supplies housed in my Ikea Magiker Sideboard, my Ikea Expedit Desk and a sweet little rolling cart from World Market. If I start to outgrow these three storage units, then I know it’s time to purge.

Unknown-5What do you listen to/watch while scrapbooking?
I’ve found that I can’t watch anything while creating and I’ve just recently started listening to music. The music has really helped me to stay focused and get in the zone. I’m pretty unadventurous when it comes to music so I usually stick with my iTunes library on shuffle (all music from my college days) or I’ll turn on the iTunes Brandi Carlile Radio Station.

Unknown-4What is your favorite color combination?
I’ve really been trying to branch out lately to make sure that I use all my supplies, but if I had my way I would probably always use some sort of pink and mint combo. Although my favorite color is yellow.

What/who inspires you?
When I sit down to create I’m most inspired by the products in front of me. If for some reason I’m hitting a creative block I usually start perusing my favorite galleries online and I always find inspiration within my first five minutes of looking. I am so thankful for all the amazing papercrafters out there who are sharing their work with the rest of us.

Thanks so much for joining us this month, Carson!
