Sketch Thursday

EllesStudio-SketchThursday-04-28-16
Good Morning, All! Alissa here today and I’ve got my take on this fabulous sketch! I love everything about it! The original layout, by Meghann Andrew, is so inspiring and I had to keep myself from copying so many of the elements, including the papers used. Yes, I love it that much. The papers she used and the bits are my favorite part! I love how Meghann kept the scattered bits together by color families. It’s a bit subtle but so impactful.

EllesStudio-AlissaFastPureJoy01Supplies used: Little Moments Collection: 12×12 Paper Collection, Bits and Pieces, Journaling Tags, Stamps, 6×6 Paper Stack, Letter & Number Stickers – Black

I stuck pretty close to the sketch, but I used a 12×12 base. I love that this sketch is so adaptable to either size. Even smaller sizes for mini albums, like 6×8, would be great.

EllesStudio-AlissaFastPureJoy02
I loved the patterned strips on the top and the bottom of the page. I used branding strips from different papers in the Little Moments 12×12 paper collection. I couldn’t leave those labels sad and empty. So, the Little Moments stamps were perfect to add a fun touch to each label.

Sunshine Girl by Meghann Andrew

Hi there, Elle’s Studio fans! It’s Meghann with you today to share a layout completely inspired by the April exclusive kit + add-ons.

EllesStudio-MeghannAndrew-SunshineGirl01
I’m always looking for opportunities to document baby photos of my daughter, and when I saw the “remember when” tag from the kit, I knew I wanted to add my journaling to this tag. Next, I pulled all of the tags that were red, pink, yellow, orange and grey, and went to the April digital cut files folder to see what I could find to add to the layout. The sun cut file made me remember this photo, already saved in my “favorites” folder on my computer.

I cut the sun from yellow cardstock, printed my photo just slightly smaller than the diameter of the sun, and cut it into a circle, adhering it to the sun. Adding the striped 4” x 6” tag from the April kit to the left side of the sun made the photo the focal point of the layout.

EllesStudio-MeghannAndrew-SunshineGirl02
I went back to my “remember when” tag, and cut it into a circle. I typed my journaling into a circle on Photoshop Elements, printed it onto an 8-1/2”  x 11” piece of paper, then adhered the tag to the paper and printed again. I adhered the tag to the bottom left of my photo, and embellished with the “you make me so very happy” tag from the April kit, vellum pinked circle from the Little Moments bits & pieces, and a heart, cut from paper in the Little Moments 6” x 6” paper stack. I topped this with the “favorite” sticker from the Good Stuff puffy stickers.

To create a third circular element on the page, I punched a circle from the floral 6” x 6” patterned paper from the Little Moments 6” x 6” paper stack, topped it with a heart from the Little Moments bits and pieces pack, and the “love” puffy sticker.

EllesStudio-MeghannAndrew-SunshineGirl03
To balance the photo and sun die-cut at the top right of the layout, I stamped my title, first in multicolor with the Jordan alphabet outline stamp, then in light yellow with the Jordan alphabet solid stamp, just slightly off-centered. To this title, I added the “happiness is” stamp from the The Story Of stamp  an “A” with the light grey letter and number stickers, and the word “girl” with a script font to contrast the stamped title.

Now I have another favorite photo documented in my album, completely inspired by tags and the sun cut file! What tags from the kit are calling to you to tell your stories?

Traveler Notebook with Special Guest Anabelle O’Malley

Let’s welcome Anabelle O’Malley back for her second week with us here on the Elle’s Studio blog to show us a project using a current trend in scrapbooking- a traveler’s notebook! We love that she switched up her memory keeping process to fit her lifestyle. Let’s take a look:

I have been an avid paper crafter for the past twelve years. During this time, the scrapbooking industry has changed, and so has my style. I started off with 12” x 12” layouts, switched to 8.5” x 11”, then tried pocket scrapbooking in order to preserve my memories. Recently, I have found that I have less pictures (my son is now 13 – enough said!), but I still want a way to record my stories. As you saw in my last post, I have fallen in love with the planner craze. This naturally led to my obsession with traveler’s notebooks, and thus, my current mode of memory keeping was born. I am just loving this size for my layouts! I recently received an Instax printer and the small photos fit perfectly on my 4” x 8” notebook pages. Here is a spread I created using the Little Moments collection, along with the April exclusive Perfect Weekend stamp set.

EllesStudio-AnabelleOMalley-06Supplies: Little Moments 12” x 12” paper collection, Little Moments journaling tags, April 2016 exclusive kit, Perfect Weekend stamp set, wood veneer labels, letter and number stickers- light pink, Yes printables

I love using journaling tags on my traveler’s notebook spreads! Here I layered the star journaling tag from the April exclusive kit and the “adore these little moments” tag from the Little Moments journaling tags on the left page. I added some of the numbered journaling strips from the April exclusive kit and the cute ‘yes’ stamp from the Perfect Weekend stamp set to create my writing space. My spread is about my recent trip to Nags Head and I was able to write about the fun things we did while we were on our trip. The Perfect Weekend stamp set was perfect for this page!

EllesStudio-AnabelleOMalley-07
On the right side, I used the floral Little Moments journaling tag, along with the star stamp from the Perfect Weekend stamp set, which I love! Another technique that I used on this page was cutting the “pure joy and happiness” title from one of the journaling tags in the Little Moments journaling tags and used it as an embellishment. I did the same thing on the previous page using the small hearts, also cut from a tag in the Little Moments journaling tags.  I tend to have more ‘flat’ layouts in my notebooks, but added the “favorite” wood veneer label for texture.

EllesStudio-AnabelleOMalley-08
Finally, I printed out the Yes printables on vellum. I love the transparent look it brings to my spread!

Using a traveler’s notebook for my memory keeping has been working out really well! Thanks for stopping by and taking a peek at how I accomplish it!

EllesStudio-AnabelleOMalleyHi! I’m Anabelle O’Malley!  I live in Delaware with my husband and our thirteen year old son, Ryan along with our orange tabby, Pulu. I work at the University of Delaware at the laboratory preschool teaching pre- kindergarten and kindergarten children, as well as the university students.

I’ve been paper crafting for the past ten years and have loved every minute of it. It truly is my creative outlet. The best part has been working with and meeting so many wonderful people who are as passionate about paper crafting as I am. As a child, I would spend hours drawing and making cards for people, so this is just a natural extension of my love for all things paper. Along with creating layouts, I still love card making and trying out new techniques. My creations contain lots of texture and details, layering and clustering. Most recently, I have jumped head first into the planner craze. I love having a beautifully decorated planner! It makes working on my to do lists much easier. I also am enjoying documenting my memories in a traveler’s notebook.

When I’m not teaching or scrapping, I can be found enjoying time with friends and family, cooking, reading, hitting the gym or spending too much time online. I’m so excited to be Guest Designing for Elle’s Studio this month. Thanks for the opportunity to work with such fun products!

You can find more of Anabelle’s work at her blog, Bits and Pieces, or her Instagram feed.

Project Life with Gina Lideros

GinaLiderosES_April_PL
Hi everyone, it’s Gina here, sharing a a new page in my Project Life album.

My daughter’s 17th birthday was just a few weeks ago, and we decided to travel with several members of our youth group to LA to visit an outreach event.

I used two different pocket pages to create my spread.  The page on the left is a 10×12 spread and the page on the right is a 12×12 spread.  I like to change things up sometimes depending on the size of my photos.  I added lots of items from the the Little Moments collection and the Elle’s Studio April 2016 Exclusive kit and extras.

GinaLiderosES_April_PL1GinaLiderosES_April_PL4
During our trip we visited the Santa Monica beach boardwalk and the event at the Los Angeles Coliseum. I took lots of pictures during our vacation and couldn’t wait to share them in my album.  I added some simple journaling on the right hand side of my spread using the “notes from the weekend” card.  This card really came in handy to help document our trip.

You are my Sunshine with Maggie Massey

Hey everyone! Maggie here with a little layout I put together using this month’s Cut File!

EllesStudio-MaggieMassey-postfullSUPPLIES: April Digital Cut File, Little Moments 6×6 paper pad, Little Moments Bits & Pieces, Little Moments Wood Veneer, Good Stuff Puffy Stickers, The Story Of stamp set, Little Moments stamp set, Perfect Weekend stamp set, and Letter & Number Stickers: Black

I’ve been in such a good mood lately! I’m pretty sure it has TONS to do with the fact that the days are longer and the weather is just getting better & better!

So it was no surprise to me that I was immediately drawn to that darling little sun in April’s Cut Files. I love its whimsical hand-drawn design and I knew right away what I wanted to do with it.

I started by cutting a few different sizes out with my Silhouette & some of my favorite pieces from the Little Moments 6×6 paper pad.

EllesStudio-MaggieMassey-postc
I adhered them to a sheet of 9×12 cardstock and then just roughly traced around them with a black journaling pen. Next, I added a photo of my daughter and the sentiment “you are my sunshine.”

EllesStudio-MaggieMassey-posta
A few little bits and pieces and some stamping finished off this simple little page.

EllesStudio-MaggieMassey-postd
Thank you so much for taking a look! I hope I’ve inspired you to grab those cut files and make a little sunshine for yourself!

Process video with Jen Schow

EllesStudio-JenSchow-01
Hi everyone, Jen here! When I saw the cut files for this month, I knew I wanted to make the sun a feature on a layout. I cut it out of white cardstock and hand-stitched in yellow all around it.

EllesStudio-JenSchow-02
It’s a process that takes a bit of time but the wow factor is totally worth it for me! I backed the cut file with that glorious yellow striped paper from the Little Moments collection and kept my embellishments simple to let the sun shine (pun intended)! I used a few items from the April kit as well as some puffy stickers and added the Go See Do acrylic words for my title.

EllesStudio-JenSchow-03
You can see how it all came together in my process video:

Thanks for joining us today!

PROJECT LIFE | SPRING BREAK

Hello everyone!  It’s Jenni here, and I am happy to share a Project Life spread today. We just returned from Spring Break, and I am excited to begin documenting our memories!IMG_9384

For this Spring Break beach spread I used a 9×12 pocket page that was split up into 3×3 squares.  I printed all my photos as 4×6 photos and just trimmed them to fit the 3×3 pocket.  Likewise, I used the Elle’s Studio April 2016 kit and trimmed the journaling cards to fit the 3×3 space.  The April Kit is perfect for Spring Break documentation!IMG_9375

For this spread I decided to add a few of the small shells that my daughter found on the beach.  I love the extra touch it adds to my beach spread!  The Travelogue Journaling Tags pairs nicely with Spring Break documentation as well.

IMG_9378

Finally, I added the Go, See, Do Acrylic in one pocket, I arranged it in order and used my Fuse tool to seal the pocket a little lower down than I normally do, in order to keep the acrylics in place.  IMG_9382

Thank you for swinging by today!  I hope this inspires you to get your Spring Break photos documented!
