An Everyday Home Adventure Mini Album with Jamie Leija

We are so excited about the launch of our latest online workshop, the Everyday Adventures Mini Album Class, and a few of our design team members are excited about it, too! They’ve been inspired by the class to create their own mini albums using the same supplies that our contributors have used—with spectacular results! First this month, we have Jamie Leija sharing a spectacular traveler’s notebook all about her home.

Hiya! It’s Jamie, and I’m excited to be here with you today. As you may know, Elle’s Studio just launched its latest online workshop, the Everyday Adventures Mini Album Class. Along with the course, there is an exclusive class stamp set which pairs perfectly with the new Live Laugh Love collection! Using these items, I created my own mini album inspired by the class content and products.

The mini itself is my take on a traveler’s notebook. It has front to back pages like a traveler’s notebook, but this one is bound together with brads. It’s very photo heavy and I like that about it.

The cover is one of my favorite parts. I decided to print it on vellum and then added just a few items to embellish: The word “home,” using the Teal Puffy Alphabet Stickers, “Everyday Adventures” from the Everyday Adventures Stamp, a die cut and two enamel dots. It’s super-simple and totally classic.

For each spread, the photos are on the right side. Everything is very clean and linear. On the left side, I went wild with the Live Laugh Love Journaling Tags and 6″ x 6″ Paper Stack, since I needed to fully cover the backside of my photo paper.

I added tons of embellishments: die cuts, puffy stickers, enamel dots, wood veneer. and washi tape stickers. There was just so much to choose from in the Everyday Adventures Product Bundle, a specially-priced bundle of the supplies that the contributors used for their class projects.

The photos themselves are just ones of us around the house, or the house itself. We’re fairly new home owners, so this is still a very big adventure for us. I love capturing the house in its current state. It’s all finished but not decorated or stamped with our mark just yet. I want to remember the beginning!

This album was so much fun to put together and it is something I’m so happy to have completed! I just loved the “everyday” theme of the class and the stamp set so much. It’s great for just about any mini you might want to put together, everything little and large!

Documenting Motherhood with Meghann Andrew


 
If you’re a mom, you’re probably thinking about how to celebrate Mother’s Day with your family, or what you’re going to get your own mother to show your appreciation. Have you ever thought about documenting your own motherhood? It’s hard being a mom: I’m constantly second-guessing myself and my decisions, and hoping that I’m doing the right thing. When I sat down to create this layout about what I love about being a mom to my daughter, all of those feelings disappeared, and I just focused on the joy of my role as a mom.

This stamp-heavy layout was simple to put together on an 8-1/2″ x 11″ piece of white cardstock. I cut off the left 1/2″ from the cardstock edge and adhered my favorite multi-color striped paper from the Live Laugh Love 12″ x 12″ Paper Collection. I backed my 3-3/4″ x 3-3/4″ photo with the heart pattern from the Live Laugh Love 6″ x 6″ Paper Stack, adhering it to the background with dimensional adhesive. Matching the colors in the striped pattern on the left, I arranged the April Labels along the right side of the layout, adhering them with temporary adhesive so that I could place my title in between the labels.


 
In the three large spaces in-between my labels, I measured the midpoint, drawing a light pencil line as a guide for my letters. I started out by stamping with the Jonah Alphabet Stamp in the colors that corresponded with the striped pattern on the left side of the page. To mix things up and add some contrast to my title, I stamped the word “love” with the Malia Uppercase Alphabet Stamp in black.


 
To match the word “love,” I wanted the word “mom” to be black, too. I used a giant Sharpie marker, being sure to stipple the ink on so that it covered fully and evenly.


 
To fit my journaling on the labels, I typed it up in Photoshop, printed the page, then adhered my labels back onto the paper to run it through my printer again. Before I adhered them onto my layout, I stamped the numbers 1-5 on the left side of each label with the Dated Stamp.


 
A few simple embellishments; die-cuts from the April 2017 Kit, Vellum Hearts, Puffy Heart Stickers, Live Laugh Love Washi Tape Stickers and Enamel Dots finished off the page, leaving plenty of white space.

A Card for Mom with Melissa Mann

Perhaps you made your mother handmade gifts and cards for Mother’s Day when you were small, but why not put that simple act of love back into practice this year? Today, Melissa Mann is showing us how to create a simple yet beautiful card using our April exclusives for your mom in fifteen minutes! 

Good morning, everyone! If you can believe, Mother’s Day is less than two weeks away! I’m sharing a simple, yet classic card that can easily be duplicated if you’re in need for a Mother’s Day greeting.

I started by cutting out the pink striped background from cardstock using a die. I attached this to my white cardstock base and stitched it down with white thread using my sewing machine. I then chose the floral 4″ x 6″ journaling tag from the April 2017 Kit, cut it down to the size I wanted and inked the edges with a pink ink pad, adhering it to my card base with dimensional adhesive. I then adhered the Elle’s Studio pink vellum heart from the new Vellum Hearts and Stars on top of the journaling tag, topping it with the white acrylic “Mom” word from the Mom Acrylic and Wood Set. Then, I chose the “you’re the best” wood veneer and attached it directly below the acrylic word.

All in all, it took me about fifteen minutes to put this sweet card together and all I have to do is fill out the inside and slip it into an envelope and I’ll be ready to hand to my mom on May 14th. Thanks for stopping by the blog today! Be sure to remember your mom this Mother’s Day!
