A Wonderful Sweet Treat with Guest Marsha Farris

We are so excited to welcome February guest designer Marsha Farris to the Elle’s Studio blog today. Marsha creates beautiful, bold and clean designs in her traveler’s notebooks which always include a lot of color and pattern, which is why her beautiful style paired perfectly with our brand new February shop items! Let’s see what she created to inspire us!

Hello!  My name is Marsha Farris, and I’m so excited to be a guest designer for the month here at Elle’s Studio!  Today, I am sharing a layout in my traveler’s notebook using the February 2019 Kit and add-ons.

I always love the tags that are a part of the monthly kits and decided to focus on using them on a TN layout.  I chose to keep the background white, so the cards would stand out on my spread.  The photo I decided to use is of my son enjoying a flavored ice at our local pumpkin patch.  He is always excited to have a sweet treat!   For the title on my layout, I chose to use the “wonderful” tag in the February 2019 Kit.  There are always tags included in the kits that make great titles for layouts!  To complete the title, I added the white Hazel Alphabet Stickers to a banner from the kit die cuts and used my stapler to attach it to the card.

Next, I chose a fun striped tag from the kit to add the journaling and date.  I printed out my journaling on white cardstock, cut it into strips, and adhered it to the tag.  I stamped the date using the Mini Dated Stamp and layered some die cuts from the kit for added interest.

For the right side, I used another tag from the kit to layer behind the photo.  This helped bring over all of the colors from the other side of the layout.  I also added a piece of torn vellum behind the photo for extra texture and interest.

To embellish the spread, I layered February Labels and Bright Die Cut Labels, and added some three Puffy Icon Stickers. I stamped “happiness found” and a star from the Oh Happy Day Stamp. The Puffy Heart Stickers are one of my favorite embellishments, so I added a couple of them to the layout for the finishing touch.

Taking Inspiration from a Photo with Amanda-jayne Baldwin

Sometimes all we need is a favorite photo to spark our inspiration, and Amanda-jayne Baldwin was certainly inspired by the photo that she chose to create a stunning layout, full of bold color and texture! Let’s take a look at what she made:

Hi Elle’s Studio Friends! It’s Amanda here, & I am so excited to be sharing more January Kit and add-on inspiration with you all! I say it every month, but honestly, this month’s products are just incredible! The proof is that this is my fifth scrapbook layout that I’ve created with these supplies! Yes, fifth! It’s that good! And before you ask, you bet I used the Happy Heart Stamp! I’ve stamped all.the.things this month! I la la LOVE this stamp! I created a lot of loved-up Valentine’s inspired projects, but today I want to demonstrate the versatility of these awesome products! So enough of the chatter, here’s my latest layout to inspire you:

Wow! Isn’t this fun! Besties forever, indeed! 

For this layout, I was totally inspired by this sweet photograph of my daughter & niece. The great mix of  colors and designs in the January Kit allowed me to draw on the near black of my niece’s hair, the gray of my daughter’s tee, & that golden butterflies filter! The movement of the butterflies in the photo also influenced the flow and movement of my design. 

Let’s take a closer look…

I started this layout with the fabulous yellow striped pattern paper from the Noteworthy 12 x 12 Paper Collection. I layered a sheet of torn white cardstock over it, inserted a couple of 3″ x 4″ tags into the layer, and stitched & stapled it all into place.  

I featured the dominant yellow stripes on the left, to encourage your eye to move across my layout, left to right. The Happy Heart stamped yellow dots add to the directional flow, and guides you across my page. I selected all of the yellow acetate hearts & stars from the Heart and Star Acetate Die Cuts and aligned them with the stamped base.  

To complete the base, I embellished with lots of stickers, die cuts and veneers! I love the layered Wood Veneer Hearts over the acetate hearts—so cool! I also loved the confetti style look of the stamp, so I tried to arrange my embellishments in a similar fashion. For a more interesting & striking effect, I added a few black icon stamps as well. The pops of black balance the bright yellow perfectly!

For my photo cluster, I layered more of the 3″ x 4″ journaling tags from the January Kit, and then tucked in a few labels, stickers and even one of the acetate hearts. I embellished my photo with a Sweetheart Puffy Sticker and that divine Wood Veneer Heart! 

For finishing touches, I included a few sentiment die cuts and the Happiness Found Stickers. Last but by no means least, I added my mixed alphas title! I used the extremely versatile and everyday essential, black Jane Alphabet Stickers for the #Besties part. I love these stickers! For the remaining title, I used the super cute Black and White Polka Dot Puffy Alphabet Stickers. Perfect! 

The January Kit and extras are jam packed with all kinds of awesomeness!

January Digital Love with Daniela

We love that our digital cut files coordinate with images and themes of our monthly kits, making them easy to add to a project to create embellishment, tags, titles and so much more! Today, design team member Daniela is with us to share how she used the January Digital Cut File to record a lot of love!

Hi friends! This is Daniela again with a new layout. You might have noticed that I love using my Silhouette Cameo to make my own embellishments or to create big titles. Today I want to show you a page created with the January 2019 Digital Cut File and the Noteworthy Collection. The January cut files contain hearts in different shapes and forms, and I decided to use the tag and the heart-themed garland included in the digital file to create my embellishments for the page. I cut the garland in different sizes and from different papers and placed them under my picture, which is accomplished by different tags. This is how the layout turned out:

The base of my big cluster in the middle of the page is a big piece of the grid from the Noteworthy 12 x 12 Paper Collection. I placed all the other pieces on top of it and, all in all, used five different garlands under the tags and the picture. I also added some of the Wood Veneer Hearts and die-cuts from the January Kit. 

In addition to the So Loved Shipping Tags, I cut my own tag using the digital cut file and backed the blank heart with the same paper I used behind my picture. The whole layout follows a simple color scheme: pink and turquoise. The black script and the black and white twine build a nice contrast on this bright page.

Since I felt that something was missing after finishing the cluster, I ripped the edges of the cardstock here and there and backed the blanks with pink and turquoise papers from the Noteworthy 6 x 6 Paper Stack. These little details give the page a special touch and perfectly fit the messy style.

I really like this snapshot of my kids—they were in such a funny mood and the day was just great. The shipping tags serve as the title of my page and all the hearts that can be found all over the page support the message of the title.

January #EllesStudio Spottings on Instagram

We have loved checking out the #EllesStudio hashtag on Instagram this month, and we have noticed a lot of new faces posting projects! Thanks so much for not only using our product to help you document your memories, but also for sharing your work! These six projects caught our eye this month:

We love the way that both of these paper crafters used our January Kit and add-ons! @scrappincain said that this was her first time using our products, and we think that she created something amazing with her boy layout on the left! On the right, @schonakessler documented some beautiful family memories in her pockets!

Another fabulous pocket page created using our January Kit and add-ons is featured on the left, created by @sarah.t.creates. We love how she coordinated everything so beautifully! On the right, @fimiki shared an amazing video walk-through of her completed Document December project, complete with a Green Acrylic Album which everyone must see!

These two ladies also got a lot of inspiration from our January Kit and extras! On the left, @junell.kruzel said that she has made scrap-lifting Tracey Fox a habit, and we think it paid off! We love her take on Tracey’s original “Aunt Goals” layout from the January inspiration gallery. A Mini Tag Book with Ashley Laura

A small mini book is the perfect, thoughtful gift to give to someone you love for Valentine’s Day, and today Ashley Laura is with us to share one that can take only minutes using our January Kit and add-ons! We know you’ll love it!

Hey y’all! It’s Ashley here, back with a fun little mini album focusing on the So Loved Shipping Tags. I don’t know about you but I LOVE black and white. It’s the perfect compliment with any color, especially pinks and purples, and what better way to celebrate Valentine’s Day than to create a cute little mini album to give to a loved one!

Supplies | January 2019 Kit, So Loved Shipping Tags, Heart and Star Acetate Die Cuts, Happiness Found Stickers, Sweetheart Puffy Stickers, Happy Heart Stamp, Noteworthy 6 x 6 Paper Stack

I began with the So Loved Shipping Tags and a couple of the Noteworthy 6 x 6 Paper Stack papers, cut to a tag. (Here’s a quick tip: If you don’t have a tag die or a tool that creates tags, the best way to make a quick tag is to cut the corners off a rectangular piece of patterned paper and punch a hole!) I added the pages of my album to a book ring, and then began embellishing.


I used several components from the January 2019 Kit to embellish my tag book. Die cuts, like the transparent Heart and Star Acetate Die Cuts and stickers, like the new Happiness Found Stickers, are the simplest way to decorate a mini album without the mess or fuss! I added a few little sentiments from the Happy Heart Stamp as well!

Adding puffy shapes and words from the Sweetheart Puffy Stickers added a different texture to my mini, and accented the sweet photos that I added to my pages. There were also several die cuts included in the January Kit that worked perfectly to layer on my pages, stickers and acetate die cuts.

Circles of Love with Melissa Mann

We love all of our 6 x 6 paper stacks, but we have a soft spot for our latest, the All My Heart 6 x 6 Paper Stack! Today Melissa Mann is with us to share some tips on how to combine lots of different colors and patterns from this paper stack on one layout!

Hello! This is Melissa with you today, and I’m excited share a brand new layout made with the January 2019 Kit and add-ons! My challenge for this project was to highlight the All My Heart 6 x 6 Paper Stack. This great collection of patterns featured some wonderful color schemes; I am always a huge fan of pattern paper and decided to use as many of the papers as I could on this layout!

One easy way to do this without the patterns getting out of control is to use smaller pieces of the pattern paper. In my case, I decided to punch a BUNCH of circles in various sizes. Before I stitched and layered them down on my card stock, I first used some stamps and white paint to “distress” the background a bit.

Once this dried, I layered my circles cut from the All My Heart 6 x 6 Paper Stack and the Heart and Star Acetate Die Cuts and stitched them down using my sewing machine. I sewed all vertical lines to give some linear consistency through the layout. 

Once my circles and acetate shapes were stitched down, I placed my photo and a couple of 3″ x 4″ journaling cards from the January 2019 Kit tucked behind it and adhered them down. I placed my title, “XO,” using the Sweetheart Puffy Stickers, above the photo. I also typed up a couple of January Print and Cut Labels and adhered them down.

Then came the fun part! I used stickers and die-cuts to further embellish my circles. I scattered them across the layout and then used the Sweetheart Puffy Stickers to complete it! I loved how the black and white banner heart puffy stickers were able to be used!
