Hello, everyone! It’s Aurélie here today to show you what I created using the brand new April 2022 release!
Supplies | Flower Puffy Stickers, The Best Paper Stack, Warm Solids Paper Stack, Big Hugs Stamp, Big Hugs Metal Die, Pocket, Frame, and Flip Up Metal Die
As soon as I saw the Big Hugs Stamp, I knew I wanted to try to create a few cards with it. I mean, it’s so perfect for positive, and not-so-positive occasions! Unfortunately, as of late, a lot of not-so-positive situations have been happening to friends and relatives of mine. Hopefully these encouragement cards will bring a bit of sunshine to their lives.
Now, do you see how the frame on that card creates a shadow to the left? Well, there’s a perfectly sound explanation for that. I actually created an interactive element for this card using the PPocket, Frame, and Flip Up Metal Die. If you want to learn more about how I created it, please watch this video:
So simple, yet effective, right? Naturally, I wanted to also keep things as simple as possible for the other two cards, so I opted to use similar elements from one card to the next: the frames, the dry-embossed clouds, the raindrops, the hand-stitched frames around the cards’ focal points and the sole ink color used. Not only did it create a cohesive look between the three cards, it also cut my design time to next-to-nothing!
The smaller raindrops were actually fussy-cut from one of the The Best Paper Stack patterns. I always love to see what papers are fussy-cutting-friendly. It stretches the creative possibilities of papers to boundless limits!
I’ll be honest: When I first started this card trio, I really thought I was going to die-cut stamped images and use them as design elements. However, fate steered me in another direction. I decided to use die-cut images as design elements for the stamped sentiments. Yes, the embossed clouds and the sun’s rays were die-cut using the Big Hugs Metal Die. The sun’s middle was created by punching a 1″ circle from one of the The Best Paper Stack‘s patterns. Super simple and totally fun. And there you have it! Three cards, ready to send to friends and family who may need a bit of encouragement because of unfortunate circumstances. By keeping it simple and using the same design elements in different ways, I had an absolute blast creating. Remember, not only can stamp sets be as versatile as you want them to be, but die sets absolutely can, too. Sometimes, you just have to look at what you have on hand from another angle to see just how much you can get out of them.
We can’t wait to see what you’ll come up with using the April 2022 kit and add-ons! Please share your projects with us at our Elle’s Studio Facebook Group or on Instagram using the hashtag #ellesstudio.
